Glimpses of the Past

After everyone had collected himself or herself they went to the conference room once again. Batman placed Broly who now had a new set of one-year-old clothes on in the crib. Once Batman sat down they all started asking about Broly's mindscape.

"It was unlike anything I have ever seen. It will be easier to show you all." With that Manhunter's eyes glowed green as he pulled everyone there into the mindscape of Broly, who was originally a SPARTAN of the Halo Universe.

Batman upon entering Broly's replicated mindscape took a good look at the armor on the rack wondering if he can get any ideas from the mental impression. He was amazed, as he had never seen the design of most of materials used to make up the suit of armor. With all of the tech put on the armor he was at a loss since no one, not anyone on Earth at least, was able to build something this exquisite at least not for a hundred or more years from now. Even with the help of Alien technology this high level tech was not possible for decades if not longer for humanity.

Superman who knew the tech level of many different alien civilizations was shocked to see the armor that so closely resembled the armor of his lost race with some differences in the design.

Looking away from the armor Batman came to an understanding that he was not in a warehouse as Manhunter originally thought.

They were standing in a hanger bay of a spaceship. There were a lot of oddly designed ships that were not anything humanity had created, but here was the weirdest thing, there were humans in military uniform marching, fixing, working, and training all over the gigantic hanger bay.

Off to the side there was a gun range where guns of unknown make and designs were being fired at holograms of aliens, monsters, and what looked like robots of even higher tech.

Green Lanterns was shocked to see Marines in the mindscape of Broly. He knew they were Marines only because he was one. Even though he didn't know the organizations name he knew that they were based of the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy. They were not exactly the same but they had he same bearing as the military he was in.

"W-what exactly is this?" Wonder Woman asked shocked by the complexity of everything surrounding her. Even though she had been on alien spaceships, it did not have the same effect as seeing a human run and built spaceship that was not in the hands of a super powered individual like Batman. It gave her a glimpse into the future. One where she felt the amazons were threatened but at the same time protected. Specifically by men.

"If I was to hazard a guess this is the ideal that Broly or another person sees the military of humanity in the future." Hawkgirl states as she watches everything like her namesake. It was of a similar make up to home world's military. But she had to grudgingly admit after a short amount of time that these humans were even sharper than her own military, which was class based.

"Why would Broly have this kind of mindscape? I thought mindscapes were what a person experiences throughout life. How could Broly have such a clear mindscape?" Green Lantern asks. Even he did not have a mindscape this thoroughly developed and he was much older.

"I do not know but I think everyone can see how I meant a regimented mindscape now." Manhunter said.

"This just gets weirder and weirder." The Flash says.

In his mind the Flash is thinking about something he had been through a couple of years ago. He had been on a mission to a different earth in the multiverse and when he was passing through a few of them there were some worlds he caught glimpses of that he had not really understood the background on. In one he saw a massive space battle happening. The design of this ship was oddly similar to it. In that universe he felt his attachment to the Speed Force flicker for the first time. So he escaped without finding anything out. He wondered…

"Whatever is the case, we know for sure that we can't have Broly outside of our care at all anymore. If anything here is even feasible, then there is an even higher precedent to keep him hidden from those who would pick his mind and body apart." Batman stated to the League. "Broly has now become our number two directive. Once he is older we may be able to get him to explain this to us. If he is able to build any of what is possible here then he will become the most wanted person on the planet if not across the galaxy if what I am seeing is correct."

Everyone looked toward where Batman was looking and saw the iconic Halo out a portal on the side of the hanger. As they watched it fired and obliterated everything living surrounding it.

"Make that number one directive." Batman stated.

No one questioned Batman's words.

Batman after staring at the Halo for a time walked over to the computer and asked, "J'onn can we interact with Broly's mindscape?"

"Yes but to only a limited degree as I do not know how much longer we can be here." Manhunter said.

"Well I want to see if I can access any files on Broly here an try to understand what we are seeing. As well as understand Broly more." Batman said as he started interacting with the computer. Batman searched everything he could on the current Broly and came to understand him a little better. A little later Batman eventually got curious and searched the history of Earth last. He responded to the Flash who had said something. He soon got more than he asked for as he saw the date of the information on the computer and was shocked. It was five hundred years in the future.

It was then…

As Batman was examining the computers the others were looking out into the center of the hanger where there was a green floating light. Inside the light they saw the baby Broly curled into a ball. The light flashed with each heartbeat and steadily grew by a small amount. Even with the growing green sphere of light the hanger grew to fit it in the center. There were three green lines of thread that led off into the distance of the ship. The fourth line led to a closed door off the side of hanger bay that had a massive steel door easily reaching over 100ft tall.

Pointing to the closed steel door Martian Manhunter said, "That is where I stored the block."

Wonder Woman floated up till she was at the edge of the sphere. She put a hand to the green sphere. There was a ripple of light all across the sphere.

The Flash who had been wondering something for a long period of time, at least for him, raced off following the glowing lines. In a few minutes he came back with a terror stricken look on his face. Green Lantern and Hawkgirl who had not been doing anything came over and asked Flash what was wrong.

"I-I saw…I saw what could only be a war zone outside of the ship we are on. The ship seamlessly transitioned to three different locations where the lines led to. It seems as if there are three wars going on at the same time. There is so much death and destruction. It's unlike anything I have ever seen. In each of these war zones there is an ever-shrinking number of the suits of armor. The green line connects to one of the suits fighting." The Flash says.

They all looked at Broly and came to an understanding. He was one of the suits of armor. If that was the case then Broly had fought three wars.

"But he was a baby? How did he fight in three wars that we have no knowledge about?" Stewart asked.

"J'onn what does all of this mean?" The Flash asked.

"I do not know. It is almost as if Broly has already lived a life before the one we know." J'onn said to the group.

"Reincarnation…" Hawkgirl says unbelieving, she had never expected to find someone else who had gone through the same thing.

"Wait! Do you mean the Broly outside has the soul of this Broly from another time and/or Universe?" The Flash asks almost as if he had been expecting it.

"Since I have nothing else to go on then I would have to agree with that statement. I have never met a person who has reincarnated before though." J'onn said.

"No, you actually have." Said Hawkgirl as she looked at the ground.

They all looked over at her except Batman who was still combing through the computer.

"I…I don't really know much but I get flashes of memory almost as if it is a flashback to something I did. Even though I know I haven't. If I take in everything that we have seen and what I have been through I believe that Broly is a reincarnation. From where I don't know." Hawkgirl stated not giving away any more information.

"But it seems to me that this a far more advanced Earth than even ours. I have been through the multiverse and have come across some of the same worlds, but there was one that I had never seen before where everything you see here was present. That universe was extremely hard to pass through as if there was no Speed Force present there." The Flash stated.

"Or it had not been created or born at that time in that universe." Batman stated as he continued to examine the computer and its information.

It was then...off to the side a hologram of a beautiful woman appeared. She had a digitized librarian look with glasses. She looked at Batman and asked, "What is it you are searching for Batman?"

Startled Batman looked at the hologram and asked, "You know me?"

"Yes, I know you and I also know everyone here as I have heard everything Broly has heard." The A.I. said as she looked at the group.

J'onn felt a power unlike any he had faced before come crashing down on him. "W-what are you?"

"I guess you could call me a god. Though that wouldn't do as I have no physical body. Lets just say I am a deterrent to prevent this universe from bleeding into another due to a rupture in space-time-reality. Since Broly was sucked into this universe I was brought along, in between universes I was given a mission by a true god to protect Broly's soul from revealing truths about the world that you mortals are not ready to understand. One of you has already touched on the subject so I can speak with him. Otherwise once the rest of you understand these laws I will be able to speak with you again. Until then I will curtail your information collecting mission here." The A.I. said to the League as she raised her hands and forced them all to the ground. Everyone was on the floor slowly dissipating back to their own minds except for the Flash.

"Why is Broly here?" Batman asked as he was pressed to the cold steel floor.

"He was sent here at the whim of a god because someone in this universe messed up badly. There is a war coming and Earth needed a leader who would be able to fight the battles the humans could not and who could guide humanity to survival. He has already begun his planning for the future and the willpower of a Spartan is not something this universe can shake. With the power of a #$^%*@! He will be able to have a much larger effect on the future. What you must know is that a war is coming and Earth is not ready for it. Even with all your powers you will not be able to completely protect humanity from it. The only way for humanity to survive is if you let Broly free to do as he wills. Eventually you will come to see it is the right answer." The A.I. said the Justice League.

"What makes this universe different from the others? Why do we need Broly here?" The Flash asks.

"The things you have seen within Broly's mind, the Flood are here in this universe." The hologram pointed off at the ballon insect creature. "They broke through an already weak wall in space-time-reality when one of the forerunners halo's went off and were sucked into this universe. With their unique biology they will quickly overcome the galaxy unless someone can guide humanity as well as its other species through the future war. Unless you unite humanity as well as much of the galaxy then oblivion is all that awaits you. Though there is one thing in your favor that Broly's universe did not. Well, two if you are counting. You have magic and super powers that will be of great help to fight the flood. But know this that this difference is a double-edged sword as the flood will consume these beings with powers and turn them to their own devices. Though this will take time as the flood will take a long period of time to understand what it is they gained and how to properly use it against you.

"The other thing you have on your side is time at least a decade if not two. When my god saw the flood leaving for another universe he placed a bubble of space-time around the largest group and communicated to this universes god to send it to an already specified location. This became what you would say is a forced hibernation period. As he had such a short amount of time he could not get them all. There was one group that escaped his bubble this was a small enough group that you will be able to face it with help from your fellow organizations. This will give you a taste of what you will come to face in the future and make your governments and groups to prepare. This was all he could do in that short amount of time, plus give you a leader." The A.I. said to the group.

Batman looked at the Justice League and then towards the A.I. and finally at Broly. He came to understand the reason for Broly's presence here. If what everything that was said was true then there was a very specific reason Broly, a previous Spartan super-soldier of a different universe, was given a body that made his previous look weak by comparison. If he was guided and directed he could become an even better leader in this life to help humanity survive the coming war.

"Am I right in guessing that the god cannot act on the flood due to this being a different universe or a hands off policy that gods have?" Batman asked.

"Yes the god I serve is not able to act in this universe without punishments being sent down. So he chose a hero who could fight the unknown invader without godly intervention the gods of this universe accepted his help in this form. He sent me to help the hero accomplish his mission." The A.I. stated.

"Then is there anyway the god can give us information on this Flood and its present location in the universe? If we are able to send out scouts to tell us where the infection is we can start doing something about the threat. As I am sure your god understands information is power. With the help of the Lantern Corps the Justice League and other organizations we will be able to prevent enough bloodshed till Broly is able to face the threat with us and humanity at his back, as I am sure you know he will be the leader who is at the point of the spear. We need him to grow up at the butt end of the spear till as you said he puts humanity on the proper footing." Batman explained his reasoning for the information.

The A.I. looked at Batman and stared before saying. "One of you already has the location of the Flood. It is up to them to give out this information. But since you do not truly understand the threat I will give you a small understanding I happened upon in my previous universe. Since believing is seeing, I suggest you find this nest and exterminate it. Then you will understand my warnings." The A.I. warned as she waved her hand and the group received a front row seat to the oblivion that met the galaxy a hundred of thousand years ago when the Flood first appeared and their subsequent destruction of all life in the galaxy, as well as the information that the Flood also destroyed other galaxies.

"I have given you all the information I could. Now here is my second gift to you. Train him well. He will take over his own training at some point but until then please care for him. Give him the life of someone that is not a soldier. If you do then he will guide you and humanity towards a future that does not consume the universe. Should he not be shown the light he will fall into darkness like he almost did in his previous life. If he does then you will fall as surely as he will. He is unique in this universe for the very reason of fighting this war. Don't let this war consume him. This is his second chance at life one where he can find real happiness that he could not in his war filled life before. Don't mess this up for him or yourselves." The A.I. had a sad look on her face as she looked towards Broly floating at the center of the hanger bay. With this information the Justice League, save the Flash, were sent out of Broly's mindscape.

The A.I. turned towards the Flash and squinted her eyes at him, "You. You are the one."

The Flash was shaking in his boots he could do nothing to this being and with everything he had just learned he didn't think he would do anything. He remembered and understood the situation in far greater detail than everyone else since it is his life, his actions that led to this situation.

"You run at speeds not feasible by any mortal or even gods but your running causes shockwaves that affect the fabric of reality when you don't know where you are going." The A.I. said to the downtrodden Flash. "If you do not curb your action of running without thinking, then I don't think the gods of the multiverse will keep giving you a blind eye. Your build up of space-time-reality warping, caused you to reach a place that no mortal or god of this multiverse should access. You punched a whole into a whole different multiverse and due to this the two universes that were connected to this hole, to save the two multiverses, self imploded." The A.I. said flatly.

The Flash was devastated beyond comprehension at the words dropped on him.

"You are lucky due to the intervention of two gods of the two multiverses who in their wisdom switched the position of two empty universes with the ones you connected. They were able to save those universes from their self-implosion. Keep this in mind in the future when you decide to go world hopping that there is always an end as well as beginning should you reach that end, stop. This is your last and only warning. Give my regards and warnings to the Speed Force as well." The A.I. said as the Flash collapsed in relief to know he did not just destroy two universes. With a wave of her hand the A.I. sent the Flash back to the council room.

Footsteps approached the A.I. who had just finished her initial mission. She turned to start the second mission that was granted to her by the god of her previous universe as Broly did something worthy for it. The mission she had been hoping for the longest time even in her previous world. The mission to allow her Spartan to rest and relax for as long as she can manage. The third mission was the one spoken of in front of the Justice League.

"So that is the situation? Do I need to know anything else for the mission, Valkyry?" Broly said as his future body appeared in front of the A.I.
