Solitary Vampire

It’s the year 2357 on earth and the world has been at war in a three battlefront against humanoid lizards gifted by magic called dragonkin, aliens that had far more advanced technology called the Xalorians, and the remnants of angels and demons called ShadowFallen.  No to mention the aggressive beasts that roam the universe Through the war humanity has grown too big to stay only on earth, having finally gone to space and occupied planets that one could only dream of, but the universe’s mysteries are far and wide but closer than you may think. Rosaline, a young 16 year old girl, had been given a book to her by her dead parents that had died on the battlefront against the dragonkin before humanity and the Xalorians signed a treaty in the name of ‘preventing’ war and to deal with the powerful dragonkin. Like that treaty had ever stopped war and the Xalorians being hostile towards humanity. But no matter how hard she tries to open the book it wouldn’t give her face, not even pouring acid. But one day just before she goes off to her new military school after middle school, she accidentally poked her hand and a drop of blood fell onto the book.  A system appeared giving her a chance to become stronger, thinking this was a miracle. What she didn't know at the time was that it turned her into something not human. A Vampire. ********************* This novel was inspired by a lot of different media that I have seen so you may see some similarities between them. I will make sure to mention and give credit to the media when that happens. Updates everyday at 16:00 EDT I will probably be able to pick this novel back up again in December of 2026.

Blooded Human

Lelia got back to the dorm when she saw Roseline going through the fridge devouring anything there was in there.

She looked haggard and exhausted as if she had done something that sucked her energy away.

Roseline  had long heard Lelia coming back and instinctively knew she had to satisfy her hunger or else something bad might happen.

"Are you alright?" Lelia asked, looking at her.

"Yeah…"

Lelia assumed that she must have trained quite intensely for having such an appearance after.

Going on to do their own things, Roseline was still hungry and went to go to the convenience store near the dorms and Lelia got to her bed side and pulled the drawer open, pulling out a bronze gear and placing it on the table.

Looking at it, she pressed the center of the gear and a hologram appeared showing a countdown.

Lelia didn't know what the countdown stood for but that it was important.

Every second the last number of the hologram ticked down one after the other.

Roseline had opened up the interface to check what changes had happened as a result of 'changing' to a Blooded Human and what it was exactly.

——— SYSTEM ———

Blooded Human:

A human that evolved to drink and consume blood as a new source of energy together with normal human food.

Origins are unknown to the SYSTEM.

——————————

Blooded Humans were like normal humans in every way except for slight night vision and drinking blood.

But another thing that the System doesn't mention is that they don't have the ability to taste sweets.

Roseline had found out about that while looking for food to eat in the fridge at the dorm.

Changing species didn't seem to bring any more benefits to the System either.

Thinking back on the options after Blooded Human, Cannibal and Vampling, Roseline was glad that her cells had something in them that made the System change the chances of both of them.

Now that she thought about it, the System had always mentioned 'unsealing' of the cells and not some form of evolution.

But in the end she decided to put that in the back of her head, heading back to the dorm to sleep after ransacking the convenience store for food with points.

Points are the military base's form of currency. Students get 10 points daily so that they can use it on renting a private training room, getting extra food from the convenience stores, getting Core weapons and upgrading them, or buying items and products for personal use.

There are other ways of getting points too but as long as you don't waste your points stupidly, it should be fine.

Even after taking all of her points and buying all kinds of snacks, she was still hungry.

All she had to go off was that it was related to that new Daily Quest.

Getting to the dorm, she went to her bed and fell on it. Doing so she immediately fell asleep.

There was a giant building in the middle of the military base that was bustling with people walking in and out of it. That building was the main building of military base 3.

In one of the teachers meeting rooms 4 different teachers were talking about taking the students on a trip.

"It's a bit early into the school year, I think we should wait a bit." Raven said. "We can do that for the students that are sophomore and up but not the freshman."

"I agree with you but that was only the case if we truly reached peace. We still don't know if the dragonkin or their allies may attack us again, after all they aren't humans so they won't follow human rules." Atlas said.

Another man spoke up in support. They had white hair and green eyes similar to Lydia Reese.

"Like Atlas said, those bastards are extremely violent and hostile to us. They think that we're lesser than them. We should use this time of 'peace' to train new soldiers so that the time when we start the war again we will be better prepared to fight them."

Atlas responded to the man's answer. "Well, I don't necessarily think that the dragonkin will recklessly attack us. Dragons, their masters, are after all one of the most knowledgeable species in the universe."

"They will probably do the same thing as us, training soldiers for a fight that one of us has to start. If this goes on, some third party will take advantage of the situation."

The man looked back at Atlas and said. "So are you suggesting that we take the opportunity to attack first? We haven't even recovered from the war a few years back."

"I never said to attack now."

Lydia kept moving her head from the two before saying. "I agree with Raven. The new students are too young, only 14 to 15 years old."

"Well war never gets too old and stops now, does it sister?"

Raven interrupted. "Sean, we should first train the students fully before sending them anywhere off. Having untrained soldiers is just suicide, for both the soldiers and higher-ups."

Atlas also agreed in a questionable way. "Yes, trained soldiers are much better than untrained ones, though I still think we should send them somewhere after a while."

Sean Reese thought about it for a moment before agreeing and with that the conversation was done.

Lydia looked at Sean and said after some thought. "Hey you look a bit anxious. Has some bad news come over from the frontlines? You wouldn't have usually agreed with Atlas considering how you two don't get along."

"Nothing too serious right now but there have been signs of a group of dragonkin going somewhere close to our territory and doing something. They seem to be contacting one of their allies that somehow got into human territory."

"There hasn't been an update yet on the situation."

Sean closed his eyes and tried his best to ease his anxiety as it may just be a small event of a group of dragonkin unrelated with the war, but he had a gut feeling it wasn't.
