5th Gym battle part 1

Rex spent another hour enjoying the rides before he left. He walked under the night sky enjoying the peaceful empty streets and the soothing night breeze with the smell of flowers due to the cherry blossoms nearby.

"Ahhhh, this is the life." He said taking in a deep breath and opening his arms wide as if he was attempting to hug the world. It took 30 minutes for him to get back to the hotel since he strayed now and then enjoyed the quiet.

The next morning was welcomed with a heavy downpour. It was raining heavily but this only served to further brighten Rex's Day. He walked out of his room in a simple white dress shirt, black dress pants and a jacket and proceeded to enjoy the rain as he made his way slowly towards the gym. People would give him strange looks as they saw his completely drenched clothes. Everyone was either rushing to their work or doing other things, yet this strange man was simply enjoying a stroll while getting pelted by strong waves of rain.

Rex couldn't care less about the rain. He simply walked slowly, with his hands in his wet pockets and headed to the gym. 10 minutes later, he was staring at the entrance of the gym. It was a purplish-pink one with weird psychedelic designs painted all over the walls. It was strange, to say the least. Inside, there was an older woman at the reception desk drinking a coffee as she watched something.

When she noticed Rex walking in, she was surprised to see him wet.

"Are you ok young man? Won't you catch a cold if you stay in those clothes?" she asked with a worried expression.

"Nah, don't worry about me. I came to challenge the gym; is it open today?" he asked while waving his hand dismissively.

The woman nodded, "yes it is, my daughter is currently idle, you can challenge her now if you like."

"That would be best." He smiled and headed into the Arena. As he walked through the sliding doors he could hear the woman talking over the phone and soon after, Sabrina walked out. She seemed livelier as she walked with purpose and confidence. But she was smiling.

"Good morning, I am the Gym leader Sabrina, this will be a one-on-one battle, agreed?" she said succinctly. It seemed that even though Ash cured her whatever it was, she was still strict and didn't care for idle chat.

"Agreed." I nodded and pulled out a Pokeball. Sabrina did the same but with her mind. it levitated there for a moment before opening and Alakazam came onto the battlefield. Rex smiled and gently threw his out and a small black Pokémon appeared which instantly disappeared into the floor.

Sabrina frowned when she saw that. She couldn't quite see what Pokémon it was. But she was sure it was a ghost type simply by what it had just done.

"Ready?" asked the woman who had been talking to Rex before. She was now standing off to the side looked at him. He nodded and so did Sabrina.

"Then let the battle between Sabrina the Gym leader and Rex the challenger commence!" she yelled.

"Marshadow use night slash!" Rex smiled and waved his hand. Sabrina didn't say anything, but Alakazam raised its hand and created a barrier in front of him. It was protect. And just as he put it up, a little Pokémon burst out from Alakazam's shadow and struck the shield.

"Use it again, Night slash!" he said. Alakazam didn't let that happen and used teleport to move away from the attack. And just in time as Marshadow struck where Alakazam just was. Sabrina was staring at Marshadow with interest. She had never seen this Pokémon before.

"Use shadow sneak!" this time Alakazam didn't have enough time to react as Marshadow sank into the floor and instantly appeared behind him and smashed down on his head. Alakazam wasn't physically defensive, so he took a lot of damage from that one.

Alakazam quick teleported again and used Recover to get back all of his Hp. Rex simply shook his head. it seemed that this was going to be a long fight. Electricity began to surge around him and sent it towards Marshadow. It was thunder wave.

"Go underground Marshadow and use shadow punch!" he said quickly. Marshadow sank into the floor quickly, effectively evading the attack and instantly appeared behind Alakazam and once again smashed him on the back of the head. Alakazam was sent sprawling onto the floor.

But soon he got up, teleported and used recover again. Rex grimaced, so this was what it felt like to be on the other end of high sustain. It was annoying. Alakazam was instantly back up to full health and sent out a psychic wave of energy that surrounded Marshadow and lifted him off the ground and sent him blasting into the wall.

It was super effective, plus the ridiculous special attack from Alakazam, he was left with almost no health. The only reason he survived that was due to his status as a mythical and Rex's training which further increased his stats.

"Use phantom force!" Rex yelled. Marshadow disappeared into a black vortex. Alakazam used protect and waited for the attack calmly. It was obvious that they didn't know what such an attack did. Marshadow appeared like the grim reaper and smashed both his fists towards Alakazam. The opponent was calm as it expect it to be blocked but his face soon turned to one of panic as it got hit with the force of a freight train sending it smashing into the wall.

But Rex wasn't happy like he was meant to be. Simply because Alakazam had used reflect at the last possible moment. Instantly halving the damage. Rex couldn't help but admire his opponent, after all, it took immense trust and skill to perform such a move in such little time.
