End Of Another Servitude

"Protect Zamright" Shisha's orders echoed, and Mudi dashed toward the abomination that just passed them.

The 15-year-old kid was equipped with battle gloves that could heat up and deliver fast punches. They can also shoot heated knuckles that return to him.

Also, he wore a booth that increased his speed and agility, not to mention a helmet that covered his face which aided in his perception and control of his equipment.

Even with all that he cannot keep up with the fast speed of the bursting bubble that propels the ugly fish. For that, he decided to use a projectile knuckle.

Right as he was about to the fish burst and escaped toward the door Zamright was in. Mudi's overheated gears sped up and he almost rammed at the fish, unfortunately, the fish was fast.

Nonetheless, he charged up the knuckles and shot them, moving faster than the speeding fish, they rammed at it.

POP!

The whole ugly slimy fish burst, this time into the afterlife. Zamright moved in time to avoid the splashes of the goo.

"Are you alright!" Mudi asked.

"Yes!"

"Good. Enter into this compartment okay? Lora was inside one of the rooms. You can have this one!"

Zamright stared at the boy, his attitude reminding him of home. He has this charm that makes people around him want to take care of him.

Booooooom!

A more dangerous explosion happened and the whole city flipped, people rammed into the ceiling before it returned to normal after another violent attack.

[Four Breaches]

[Awakened Please activate….ahhhh] The voice was cut off with a scream. Zamright was still standing but Mudi had tumbled two times over.

By the door, blood flowing and with another tilt, a guard's headless corpse slid and revealed itself. The steel walls began to bend around the room as if a confined beast was passing by.

The confidence Mudi drained as he muttered, "Many Alphas are in the Floating City!" fear now tainted his eyes.

Bang!

A bigger and more uglier fish rammed at the headless corpse and began to chew. Just one swallow made it increase in size and its body emitted more slime bubbled around it.

What more was a scent that made the stomach contractions.

Its gaze veered and landed on the two teenagers. Seeing a living young delicacy it burst toward. Very fast, Mudi only saw blurry.

Pusss!

Mudi stood panting as he stared at what had happened, the ugly thing exploded like a wet balloon. And it was the little boy he was tasked to defeat, swatting it with his backhand like a bug.

Nothing changed on Zamright's face but he was looking at his back hand in thought.

"You didn't know you could do that?" Mudi asked excitedly.

"I know!" Zamright said but he didn't elaborate.

The thing was he somewhat felt disgusted by killing an inferior species. That should be beneath him.

This was an Exalted One attitude, they don't kill inferior beings, no matter the aggression. However, they always have an executioner that can do that if need be.

Screaming filled their section and so Zamright stepped forward, his visage blurred and reached another alpha in another room.

Pusss!

He left for another.

Pusss!

The alphas were stronger but even normal guards would face less difficulty fighting them the most annoying thing was their fast burst movement that confused people.

However, Zamright was faster and he wasn't being confused at all by them so smacking them was all he needed to do for them to burst to death.

After about 5 minutes everything calmed down before the creatures were truly expelled and stability returned.

All this while the floating city was still speeding toward the mainland.

Zamright has only sped around the section he was placed in and because there were many children they placed a lot of guards, sadly most of them were mundane and speed was not their forte.

In no time, the situation was taken under control and the blood was cleared. This time though, everyone settled down in their group compartment.

Food and water were delivered to them. Zamright, unable to sleep at all makes a habit of just listening to the occasional tremor, trying to decipher it to kill time.

"Zamright!" Mudi called, the pale small boy looked at him in response but found the 15-year-old quasi-seer nervous.

"You want to ask me something!" Zamright said.

"Yeah. I mean what language are you?"

He wanted to ask what race he is but that would be inappropriate.

"It was called Hausa!"

He nodded but then he said, "I never heard about it and I'm from Charred Island!"

"Well, that was my mother tongue. But now I speak what you speak!" Zamright said.

Zamright understands that the boy might have told the others what he saw but then later he realized it was only Shisha who knew because the rest continued to treat him like a kid. They kept asking why they weren't you. eating or something like that.

[Floating City Control Room]

The captain stood with a severed hand, but his face was stern as he looked at the approaching mainland. His Clan were prepared to take him to the city.

His mood was foul because the city was damaged severely and he will also need to go back. The infuriating thing was that he would have to take another city and let this one be repaired.

Most people assumed that Floating City was a benevolent force that cared about Charred Island, that was why for centuries now, every single day they travel back and forth to carry people or to deliver goods.

However, the truth was far from that. The floating city was just a legacy machine they obtained but to own it they had to perform that journey every day, whether with people or not.

The Captain was the current Patriarch of the city and he was lamenting the cost of repairs and more so taking another city from their vault.

Suddenly a petite girl appeared before him and bowed deeply to him.

"Father, something was happening to the Floating Core!"

" What?" he shouted, agitated and terrified. Many times the core has faced the threats of destruction and theft by enemies.

The shout shook her but she held on and said, "It was seeking to bond with someone. That's what the prompt showed."

The old man stood shakingly and walked toward her in shock, he lifted her to face him and asked softly, "Are you telling… " his eyes were red with tears and forced out, "...the truth!"

"Yes, father. The moment you approached, it showed the prompt to me!"

"Who did you tell this to?"

"No one!"

"Good, Sisa. Thank you." he hugged her with one hand, forgetting his injuries, tears running down from his face.

'In this world of treachery where those without foundation fade from history, we finely owned Floating Core. The cities are absolutely ours!'

He calmed down and looked at her. He knew he was not a good father, in fact, he was abusive but he knew among many of his children Sisi was the most trustworthy that was why he was put to guard the core.

Of course, he used fear and coercion to make her more loyal but he knew she was loyal even without those nefarious ways. But it was just an assurance.

'Things will go out of hand if many people know but then. I'm too old to bond with it. She can carry the burden right!' thinking in that line he shook his head, 'No one will accept a ruling woman.'

"Go wait for me!" he ordered, his stern nature returned. She bowed and vanished.

He closed his eyes and muttered, "4000 thousand years of services to dead masters and we finally owned it. We no longer need to travel to that cursed island!"

With a frown he asked, "But why now? There are still people there. Even though we announced the last ship that was to force them to come out due to the war in the sky!"

He pulled through the list of refugees to check something. In the end, he couldn't find anything out of the ordinary.

"Not my business." he said before he laughed, "I finally fulfilled my ancestor's wish. We now own the relic. Haha."

He pulled out a communicator and called his brother, "Prepare a feast and I want every refugee to be given a super prize starter pack and a chance to be a citizen of any of the nations that are our partners."

"Why!" a brutish voice asked from the communicator.

"Because I said so!" he ordered, annoyed.

Zamright walked out from the vessel and looked at the sky. He breathed in, the air was familiar yet strange.

They were guided to different places and gave lectures about the mainland culture and rules. Then they were fed, given 4 sets of clothes and a free ticket to travel to any of the listed countries.

They were also given 1000 CC which was Continental Currency. It was a digital currency stuck to their badge that served as an ID card among other things.

At that moment, Zamright saw a man escorted by other men, certainly a celebrity walking toward a large building. For the first time, an emotion was triggered in him—longing.

The man was lean with white hair and pale skin. These were his tribe features.

The man sensed the gaze and he looked toward Zamright, a curiosity appeared on the man's face before he smiled.

It was not like the guy recognized him but rather curious about what their features looked like. Zamright has white hair and pale skin just like the man but Zamright's pupils are even whiter.

"He looks like you, do you know him?" Mudi asked but Zamright shook his head.

Zamright knew that the man was from his ethnicity, even though it seemed the man had plenty of mixed blood in him.

'I need to visit Transparent Lantern,' Zamright thought, 'does it still exist?!'
