Kanrei : Road to greatness
I'm surprisingly still alive. Yes the fact that I'm thinking should be a clear give away that I'm living and not dead but to be fair my surprise came from the fact I'm sure I died. I'm an average sociopathic self proclaimed genius from a decently wealthy family with a good but boring life. The thing is that I'm sure that I fell in a manhole with my bike on a rainy day in the middle of the night. My left arm and my right leg got broken, I probably have a concussion and I drowned in human feces and others wastes. It's still terrifying me now.
Anyway rigth now I can sense my body but it's so weak. I suppose they gave me some strong analgesics for the pain. I can't even open my eyes. I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my but then proceeded to yell and I heard some women laugh. I suppose I was saved by a bunch of crazy teenagers.

I don't know how long it has been but I'm still as weak as a newborn. A woman kept talking to me bt I don't understand shit. She isn't talking any language I know.
Soon I started to hear cries from the woman who kept talking to me then a male voice then more cries. The woman started suffocting until she died. I think I may have fallen in the hands of a psychopatic murderer.
Better play dead.

I think the drugs are still affecting me as not only can't I keep my breath for 2 seconds but I'm spacing out. It's either that or the conversations around me don't make any sense. Anyway, I think I acted correctly as the murderer went away.
I have a ridiculously good hearing and I smell salt and fish everywhere. Might be the drugs as I'm even hearing the heartbeats around me. That's how I knew the woman was killed. In fact all my senses are coming back and I'm feeling my body much more than before. Only that I still can't see anything.
I should rest for now. I'm imagining the pain when these drugs wear off.

I slept more than 200 times now. I don't know how many days, months or maybe years it has been. I'm still hearing everything around me (mostly kids), I can even guess where they are and what they are doing (I receive randomly blurry images of what they are doing).
Someone kept feeding me at random time and take care of me. A crazily strong nurse I think (as she kept manhandling me in spite of my best efforts). Maybe I would think of dating her if she's pretty. If only she could let me go to the toilets instead of doing it in my pants. Unfortunately, we don't speak the same language so I keep quiet.
I can feel my body and even though I'm still weak I can move around a little. My body feel a little weird but I should be fine after a little reeducation. Surprisingly, I don't feel any pain from my broken limbs. I can move fine. There's only one problem, I can't see. I think and I hope I'm wrong but I think I'm blind.

Ok, it's confiirmed I'm blind and that isn't the greatest news, I think I reincarnated. Yeah, I know I should have understood it earlier but hear me out. As they weren't speaking a language I knew, I didn't try to talk after my first attempt when (I thought) I was under drugs (hence why I wasn't stunned by my unintelligible noises).
Afterwards, I kept finding reasons for everything happening around me until today when a kid took me and launched me in the air until I vomited on him which prompted him to let me fall. He was afterwards punished by caretaker and I was put back in what I can only assume to be my crib.
So hourray, I'm a blind baby. Hope they don't give up on me. In hindsight, I think the woman that died the first day was my mother and her murderer my father. Assuming, he is in jail or at least on the run, I should be in an orphanage which would explain all the kids.
I'm really a genius. I should now find where and when I reincarnated to or maybe I'm not even on Earth anymore.

Ok I still don't know where I am. But seriously how could I find that out without seeing or understanding anything. Think about it.
The good thing is that I'm able to walk on all four now. And I started repeating everything they say around me hoping it would make them teach me how to speak their language. It will be hard without seeing but I can see somewhat with a pseudo sonar I think. I got used to use it that I don't even bump into anything or anyone anymore. That's what kept giving me those blurry images. Yeah confusing, I know, I don't understand it too much myself but it makes me think I'm not on Earth.

It's been a while but they seriously started teaching me after noticing my genius. It's the hardest language I ever learned and I already learned five different languages. My blindness doesn't help either.
If I was a betting man I would say I'm in the Naruto world or a ninja world with powers. They gave me wooden kunai and sword as toys. The other kids want to become shinobi and fight for the clan. Yeah nice brainwashing there.
And I also have these absurd senses and sonar. I think it's more like boosted electroreception of sharks than bat sonar. So I'll assume that I'm in Naruto. The kids want to fight for their clan so either I'm in a clan orphanage of a rebelling clan or my clan doesn't belong to a village like the Chinoike. Maybe I'll get an awesome kekkei genkai.

Ok, it's been 3 years now. I have neck long hair, I love long hair they look cool and I think I look handsome since all the orphanage staff keep sloberring about how cute I look.
So time for revelations. I'm from the Hoshigaki clan from my father side which explain all my quirks. I'm basically a blind shark in human form. I don't have bones either hence my suppleness which I'm the proudest of. My mother was a prisonner of them. Confirming my fears, I do indeed look like a fish like other Hoshigake clansmen. We are in the Warring States period as there's no village for now.
Today is a special day. My father is taking me in. You see I'm apparently crazily talented as I can now beat all the children from the orphanage easily. I'm the best in everything we were taught: mathematics, physics, chemistry, kenjutsu, bukijutsu, taijutsu, survival training... They are really craming us with knowledge but in times of war llike this I think it's normal.
We were talking about my father. My father is the eldest son of the clan patriach but isn't his successor as it's my younger uncle. If I have to guess I think my father wasn't talented enough and wanted a talented son to accomplish the dream he didn't accomplish. As I was talented despite my blindness he decided to take me back.

I think I was better of at the orphanage. This dude is a monster. First thing he did when he took me in was to give me back my sight. Here, you're thinking that's great what could be wrong? I was like that too. He replaced my eyes by shark eyes and I wasn't anesthesied during the operation because daddy dearest want me to get insensitive to pain. We have to do the operation five times as the four first times I moved and damaged some nerves. It's been two years but I still do nightmare of that day.
If it ended there it would be great. I even got night vision from it and I can see colors again. Now start my 'training'. He's trying to kill me in the most painful way possible.
My day start at four o'clock with pain resistance training i.e torture.One of his subordinates would torture me in any way he thinks of. After one hour of torture, I will do my morning 'jogging'. I'm put in a pool with sharks (the number keep growing to give me challenge) and have to escape with chakra bocking seals.
After that morning routine, I relax by doing chakra control and molding exercises. My chakra nature is unsuprisingly water. At 8AM, I can eat my breakfast with poison in it like all my meals. He's doing me Zoldyck training here. I can see how this will help me later on but it's still helly painful.
After breakfast, I improve my theorical knowledge (acting, information gathering,...) while getting attacked at random moments to increase my sense of danger. After that, it's steath training with some sensor clansmen that actively try to kill me. One thing is sure he does put in the resources to get me strong.
I then train my bukijutsu, kenjutsu, taijutsu for some hours with my father before switching to ninjutsu and genjutsu. He's stronger than I thought he would. After all he did survive in these times of war. I still didn't manage to kill him despite trying for some months now.
Before going to bed, I'm put in a cage with one or more (depending of my father mood) prisonner shinobi and only one get out. Sometimes he put monsters in the cage for variety. Thanks to that I'm proficient with many weapons now as I was given random weapons or no weeapon at all during these life and death fights.
During my sleep, I get attacked at random times to keep my awareness. I'm grateful for all this training as it will make me survive in this world but I'll still kill that guy the first chance I get.

I unlocked my kekkei genkai Ice Release. Now I know the provenance of my mother and my father confirmed it. My mother was a strong kunoichi from the Yuki clan. She was made prisonner by the Hoshigaki clan but the Yuki clan didn't accept to pay for getting her back hence she was condemned to death. That's when my father got a genius stroke and decided to get a kid with the Ice Release for the clan.
With consent from the higher ups, he raped her until she got pregnant. Then I was born but I was blind. In a feat of anger he killed her and put me in an orphanage waiting to see if I would unlock the Ice Release and become a breeding horse for the clan.
To be fair, this little story made me reevalute him in my heart. He got my respect somewhat. I mean it's objectively a good plan and I'm not a little innocent boy. Worser things than **** happen in wars. Maybe I won't kill him when I get out of here. I could maybe go to the Land of Lightning and settle there as a daimyo guard or something.

I'm deployed on the battlefield for the fifth time against the Terumi clan. Bad matchup I know. Somehow, I survived and get back with honors. The clan allowed me to use their summoning scrolls thanks to my war accomplishments. My father re-integrated the higher ups circle thanks to my stellar perfomances.
I tried the summoning and it went without hitch. I can now summon the signature sharks of my clan. I think I can now get out as I don't have much to learn here anymore. I will miss Gengetsu my little rival and his antics. Thinking about it he's two years older than me but calling him little never fail to get funny reactions from him. How I would like to get his hydrification technique, it's so useful. Maybe if I sell him the Shark Summoning Scroll he will give me the hydrification technique.

So I took an assassination mission from the clan. Some little noble angering those he shouldn't. I dashed away to never come back. And this is me Kanrei Hoshigaki, 10 years old a little killing machines in the wild.
Ok first I have to live so I should build my work network to get jobs and money. And I should also keep away from the Hoshigaki clan. Hopefully with the ongoing war against the Terumi, they won't bother me.
I will go see a little noble and 'convince' him to accept my service and start from there

So it's been three years. I got my little network and is living rather well. The Hoshigaki clan started targeting me so as I promised to them I sold the clan mapping to the Hozuki clan in exchange of their hydrification technique. They tried to cheat me with some tweaks in the techniques but I also somewhat cheated them with the map so we're even. I'm not an unreasonnable guy.
I managed to create many technique with my Ice release and recreated the Rasengan. It's a handy technique.
Now I've a mission to do. Escort mission of a merchant daughter. Yeah boring but it pays well.

I met a 14 year old girl, black and ginger hair and as strong as Gengetsu. I wonder where this little monster popped from. She use both Water and Fire Jutsu (which make me think I should start training the other Nature Release) but her strongest point is her precision with all her attacks. She is also proficient in iryojutsu.
I could have died if I took any of these. Where was this girl in canon. Anyway, she was a solo player as well and her mission was to capture the merchant daughter for ransom. As I'm the asshole I am and learned that the ransom sum was ten times my pay for protecting her, we came to a deal and kidnapped her ourselves for the ransom.
We were suspicious of each other but it played out well. We decided to stay together and do profitable jobs like this. Hence started our cooperation.
My little partner is a Yuki clan member. Her name's Asuna. Her father was from the Terumi clan. Her birth was like mine, her mother raping her father hoping to get a child with two kekkei genkai. Contrarly to me she was raised since young to be the clan weapon.
At ten, in spite of all the clan effort she couldn't awaken any of the two kekkei genkai even though she has affinities two all the required elements (Water, Fire and Earth). The clan gave up on her but still send her on the most difficult mission to get back their investments. So she faked her death and fled after one particularly deadly mission and is on the run since. I met her two months after that.
Thanks to her I perfected my Ice Release.

It's been two years and we're leaving the Land of Water. We're now renowned criminals and all majors clans are after our asses one way or the other.
Fate (heads or tail) decided we were going to the Land of Whirlpool.
Oh yeah. I learned Senjutsu. Fun facts I met a shark sage renegade that wanted revenge on the Shark Reef because he was expulsed for stealing the Reef secrets. Perso I think they should killed her. She taught me everything she knows. All I need to do was killing some shark summons to show her we're on the same side.
Finally, I perfected Senjutsu some times ago and tried it on my dear teacher. Unfortunately she died. It's not always easy to control own power when suddenly boosted. You can't imagine how wonderful Ice Release got with Senjutsu. I just entered the big players field.

We have been here for 6 months and the only thing we did was build our job network. We got close to a forty years old dude. He's a seal maker. He's an Uzumaki but crippled in his youth. Since then he dedicated himself to fuinjutsu and is pretty good in it.
He's even teaching us some seals that aren't clan secret. Maybe I should make my own team. The Uchiha and the Senju are acting weirdly and I know that mean Konoha creation is near us. Maybe build my own village. But I don't want to have some daimyo or others weaklings on my head. Thought for later.

We traveled around for two years and I'm now 18 and I now know the perfect place for building my own village. The Land of Sky. Contrarly to other territories there's no clans there, no daimyo, no noble. A floating fortress, haven to renegade of all sorts. There's few civilians, few lands but this can be corrected with times. It's hard to access which made it easily defendable and have many plans for it.
We're on our way there now. We invited Masaki, our Uzumaki friend and he accepted to come with us as long as he doesn't have to betray the Uzumaki clan. He came with his family.

All the countries have war going on. The villages will soon be created and I want my village to be part of the great ones.
Here my team also somewhat grew. I got a Ronin from the Land of Iron. His name was Ryuma. He was the heir of the previous ruling clan, the Shimotsuki. He was respected by everyone for his strength and his kindness but wanted to discover the world. He then goes on his way to know the Elemental Nations and was gone for many years. He even got married to a civilian and made kids (one son and one daughter) before finally going back.
When he got back, his clan was taken over by their previous servant the Chô clan. His father presumably died from a disease and he beaqueathed them the 'throne'. By asking around he learned the truth and that his people were suffering. When he went to get justice, they had hostage and outside help he was forced to leave the Land of Iron and become a Ronin.
He went to the Land of Sky to build a little team to tak back his birthright. But he stumbled upon me and got bested. I then offered him two choices: Serve me or die with everyone you love. He knew better. Now he's my general in the conquest of the Land of Sky and forsaked his revenge.

It's been a year and with unequaled strength the Land of Sky became a monolith under my rule. Konoha was also founded. Unfortunately, our number is smaller than the other birthing villages. We had to kill many because they didn't want to submit, as example or because they betrayed us. Now we have 124 shinobi (of higher quality than other Lands since they just survived this purge) and 765 civilians (many collateral damage) for all the Land of Sky.
We have to repopulate. So I send my Generals (all of them with S-rank fighting strength besides Masaki) on that mission. They would go a little everywhere to collect all abandonned shinobi and civilians in these times of war. If they could attract clans it's for the better but the clans would get dismantled once here as I don't want power to get accumulated inside clans. There's only one ruler here. Anyway, we have:
+ Asuna, my girlfriend? I mean the Land of Sky was as known for its criminal as for its whores so I tried my fair share of them. I got good doctors. But she doesn't have to know that. She is the head of our information department (spying, torture, interrogation, brainwashing,....). She was assigned to the Land of Water as she was familiar with it. She will also start building our spy network as we need to have spies in every village.
+ Masaki, he's assignated to the preparations of the defenses of the future Tengokugakure . He is as such the head of the defense department. Each grain of sand should have a seal on it. I want to always know everything happening everywhere. I let him choose some helpers that he would teach.
+ Ryuma, he and his team has to go to the Land of Iron and its neighbors territory. He is in charge of the military department.
+ Black Jack, a defigured young physician with strong fighting ability but without chakra. He is the head of medical department. Using his wonderful medical skills he even bests some trained shinobi. He's in charge of the Land of Fire and its neighbor. With his partner Shannon.
+ Hououin Kyouma, a mad scientist whose parents were from the Land of Snow. He is the head of engineering department. His gadgets often explodes but I still gave him some testers. Those that commited crimes that I don't judge worthy of death or imprisonnement become his testers. He went to his parents home to hopefully get us some more scientists.
+ Jinasu Hakase, a world-renowned scientist. He is the head of biology department. From an early age, he doubted the claim that humans have unlimited potential; he considered the people around him to be primitive and found it painful to live among them. At age fifteen, he resolved to make humanity evolve further and create a world suitable for him. Over the next few years, he used his intelligence to make various contributions to his country the Land of Earth. However, despite all the praise he received for his intellect, no one would approve of his ideas to artificially evolve human beings through man-made mutations. So he went to the Land where everything was allowed as long as you have strength, the Land of Sky. He is my own Orochimaru. He was sent to his hometown to get recruits and test subjects
+ Kamatsu, head of the craftsman department. He is blacksmith. He's from the Land of Sky. In his youth he went a little everywhere to learn his craft. He fight with a hell lot of weapon a little like the future Tenten but more overbearing. He has to gather his old friends.
I myself have to make sure other nation know that there's another big player and not oust us when it's time to make the big decisions. So I went to the newly founded Konoha to show my strength.

I went to Konoha and asked them to give me all their scrolls or I will destroy the newly created village. I fought Madara first. As nobody was getting the advantage, Tobirama interfered. As I was prepared for that, he fell in my trap and got injured. His water jutsu were greatly hindered against me and I dealt him a heavy blow. Hashirama then intervened and I retreated.
I announced that I would build my own village Tengokugakure and that they'll then lose their number advantage. I was spewing bullshit at this point as there was no fighter in my village able to match them but that's for me to know. Anyway, I accomplished my goal and got recognized as the third SS-rank shinobi of this era.
Now we play the waiting game.

It's been a year and my generals are still on their missions but our numbers kept increasing. As I'm a little iddle I decided to get a signature summon for my country like the dog summons of Konoha. For that I decided, that there couldn't be better summons for a village in the sky than bird.
After searching many records, I finally found the location of the Eagle Nest, the eagle summons home. I went there and asked them to become affiliated to my village. They didn't want to and asked me to do some silly tests. So I beat all of them to submission. To be fair I almost lost with their numbers and varying abilities but I finally won with sneak attacks. They had the number advantage after all.
I should work on my stamina.

We're a proper country now. My generals came back with their missions accomplished. Tengokugakure creation was announced and I was proclaimed the Sorakage as well as the daimyo of the Land of Sky.
Now we enter the development period.

Two years passed. We started training the next generation. To enter our shinobi academy, the children should be able to do the three basic Jutsu and pass a taijutsu test. Their parents or the orphanage should prepare them for that. Any child able to do it whatever his age is can get enrolled in the shinobi academy. If a kid can't do it until he is 8, he is tested by the medical department to see if he has any special condition. If yes, we deal with it accordingly otherwise we wait two more years. If at 10, a kid is still unable to do these jutsu and fail to the taijutsu test, he will return to the civilian academy.
Besides the usual mentality controlling (brainwashing), the students are taught how to survive and are put in actual danger. Even with the professor protection, we still predict a 5% rate of mortality with a 15% rate of delibitating injuries.
Students are taugth all the general subjects for three years. They have to be competent in all the subjects before passing. Hence there is a test after the three years. {Like the chunin exam}
After that they will choose their specialisation and receive two years of advanced training in these subjects. The available specialisations for now are field shinobi (they will be mostly used in defense and war when there's no mission under the defense and military departments, ninjutsu and taijutsu are the main points), information gathering (directly under the corresponding department management, genjutsu is taught here), medical nin, scientist (biology or engineering), crafter.
The passing testes depend of what department they will integrate and are decided by the department head. Some geniuses can do two or more specialization at the same time.
The students that suceeded get the Genin title and are assigned to their respective department. If judged appropriate some genius can directly get the Chunin title. The promotions are handled by the department heads with their own criterions.
Jonin are the main force of the village and we wish to have many S-ranks members. Hence the talented children are specially taugth by Elite Jonin from their 4th year. If they still shined upon graduation they directly go under S-rank or higher (me). I created the perfect automanaging system. I just approve the big decision.
Konoha is asking for a Kage Summit. I shall go see what they want and meet my peers.

I went with Ryuma as my guard. As in the show, Hashirama is selling away the bijuu. I said we don't want any of it but in exchange we will build exchange points in every country. They could choose the location of these places. If they have their attention on these places they won't find our spies. Plus, we could get some resources legally in that way. They gladly accepted.
Now we will close ourselves to the world and gather our forces to take it in one go.

It's been fifteen years after the First Shinobi World War. We didn't participate but everyone trespassing our borders were disposed off. We managed to get many talented orphans from this war and they now grew up.
We grew up. We have the best weapons, the best medics, the best gadgets, the best seals, genetic modification and many more. We have 12 SS-rank shinobi and 56 S-rank ones.
It's time to start my world domination plan. Masaki the only one attached to the Land of Whirlpools is already dead so now we're united for my goal.
But we will still make them tire themselves out instead of fighting fairly. That's what our spies are for after all. Some even managed to get into the council of their villages or as concubines of the daimyos.
