Chapter 37

On a whim, Emma bent and brushed a kiss across his mouth. By the time she straightened again, Jesse’s eyes were open and dark as they regarded her in curiosity.

“We all worry too much. And we’re supposed to be on vacation. So let’s let it all go, okay?”

“It’s not a matter of convincing me.” He trailed his fingers up her arm in an idle caress. “You need to convince Gideon. Or give him something else to think about if he starts in on you again.”

“I’m not nearly as good at that as you are.”

“Oh, I think you’re better at it than you give yourself credit for.” Jesse looked at her from beneath his lashes. “But you could always practice on me, if you’d like.”

Her brows shot up. “You didn’t get enough with Gideon today?”

“Well, I thought I had, until you came in here and started touching me.”

“That wasn’t touching. That was nursing.”

“Technically, there was both. Plus, I think there’s something in this cream that makes me all…touchy.”
