Chapter 38

It was none of his business. These were strangers. He wasn’t going to feed from them, and what they decided to do in the privacy of an alley in the middle of a row of sex shops had nothing to do with him.

His steps slowed as he approached the alley’s mouth.

He wasn’t going to stop. He was just going to peek in and make sure they were all right. After all, it was a dark alley in the middle of a row of sex shops. Anything could happen.

A woman’s muffled whimper made his skin crawl. His final steps were much faster, and then they stopped altogether.

The couple wasn’t alone. The man leaned against the side of a Dumpster, and in his arms was a plump redhead, her back to his chest. His hand was clamped over her mouth, and though she struggled in his arms, his strength kept her from getting away. Gideon couldn’t see his face. It was buried in the woman’s neck, the sound of sucking all too clear.
