“Then I guess I spend it with just one of my favorite fellas.” She deliberately kept her tone light. “You want to make a bet on how long it takes Gideon to bring up the moving in issue when it’s just him and me?”

“Probably that’s how he’ll wake you up. Good morning, Emma, how did you sleep? What would you like for breakfast? Oh, by the way, why won’t you move in with us?” He stopped talking while she smoothed cream over the top of his thigh. “This is one of the reasons why, isn’t it?”

Emma kept her eyes averted. “It’s intense. I don’t think he realizes how much.”

“No, I don’t think he does. And if you think the aftermath is intense, I don’t know if you’d be able to tolerate being around during the actual festivities. Because that whip…it didn’t tickle.” Jesse sighed. “I know it sounds like I’m arguing against Gideon on this issue. I’m not, but I don’t think it’s fair to expect you to experience…this…if you don’t want to.”
