"Who are you?" Caroline felt her heart break. She felt hurt, betrayed, pain, and anger towards the man in front of her. "Who...are you?" Her voice started to break. The man sighed deeply. He stared into the eyes of the person he loved the most in his life and whispered. "I am your Harvey-" Caroline pushed him but failed to make him budge. "Harvey would not lie to me this much." every word was filled with hurt. The man held her in a tight hug that prevented her to escape from his arms. "I have relied on you for so long. I followed what you said and learned everything that I know." She sobbed. "You know me...but I do not know you." The man held her even tighter. "I am still the one who loves you with all my life. Please, don't leave me." She felt helpless. "Was I just a doll that you carry around? Was I a toy that you groomed and played with?" She gritted her teeth. "Was I just your little doll?" She whispered in disbelief to her own realization. "A little doll that you toyed with." The man shook his head as he hugged her even tighter. Meanwhile in the depth of the oceans, a war is brewing and a new heir will rise. A young merman named Kosair roams the human world to stay away from his duties. However, as the war draws near and threatens the whole ocean, it triggers a fire inside him. As it is written by Destiny, he'll fulfill the role as the heir and fight for the ocean and its people. Part 28: Walk away

"BECAUSE I LIKE YOU, DAMMIT!" I yelled at him with my eyes closed shut with annoyance.

I thought he said that I was his soulmate or whatever! I believed that he and his family were sirens and they were different. His brother tried to kill me and now he's giving me the cold shoulder. He really is an idiot!

I opened my eyes to see him look at me with irritation. I can feel myself feel small and in disbelief.

"I won't run away from any of this but you clearly need some space." I said in defeat as I looked at the sand beneath my feet. "Since you're giving me the cold shoulder, I'll leave you alone for a while but I hope that we can talk this out soon." I looked at him, looking back at the horizon with a bewildered and irritated expression. "I won't run away. I promise...but today, I'm walking away from this misunderstanding."

I start to walk away from the hut. "Goodnight, Kosair." I said in a whisper but still audible enough...so that he can hear me.

I walked a bit further then heard a scoff. My heart fell.

I woke up to my alarm. I looked at the time and it was 12 am.

I remembered. It's Harvey's birthday!

I quickly texted him a happy birthday text and started to clean the house from top to bottom.

At 3 am, I got out of the house and bought a cake, plastic forks, cups, and soda. I placed everything inside the basket that I was bringing along with a blanket.

I went to the beach to our regular spot. When it's Harvey's birthday, we'd celebrate it first with watching the sunrise since it was the reason why we became friends.

I set the blanket while the quiet waves crashed on the shore. I put the backet down and took out the cake and the drinks.

"5...4...3...2...1" I whispered and looked to my right. There he was, carrying a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine. He was still far away but I gave him a big grin. I yelled, "Happy Birthday to the man who is Harvey my dear friend!"

He shook his head and laughed a little. "Just a dear friend?" He yelled back. Could he walk any slower?

He finally arrived at the blanket and I lit up the candles and started to sing happy birthday.

"Make a wish." I said silently.

Harvey looked at me with a smile. "How about both of us make a wish?" He leaned in with a sly grin.

"If that's what the birthday boy wants." I said as I closed my eyes. I thought to myself for a while and frowned a little. I wish I could've fallen for Harvey instead.

I opened my eyes to see his still closed.

It took him a while before taking a deep breath and looking at me. "What did you wish for?" I asked him.

"It won't come true if I told you." He smiled and blew the candles.

Harvey's POV

I looked at Caroline as she ate the cake. It's like looking at a cute hamster with cheeks filled with food.

I wished that her wish would come true no matter what.

How stupid could I be. Maybe she wished for eternal happiness with Kosair. I feel my heart tug at that thought. I just want her to be happy.

"Look, the sun is rising!" She exclaimed.

I smiled and looked at her. She has seen the sun rise with me a lot of times but it somehow never gets old.

Will I ever have a chance with her?
