Secrets

"What's up ?" asked Zoe, startled.

"Calm down, we can explain" replied the mother.

"Where am I? What have you done to me?" asked Zoe in panic.

"Calm down, I'll explain everything" said Joe sitting in a chair.

"You and everyone in that theater were infected with a substance known as ChimeraX, I used that weapon to neutralize people's substance and we are in my secret lair in the basement of the house," Joe revealed.

"Why do you have a lair and what is ChimeraX?" asked Zoe.

"ChimeraX is an unstable formula that gives super powers and kills whoever uses it after 2 hours. The lair is because I used to be a super villain" replied Joe.

"What?" Zoe said in shock.

"My villain name was SoundBoy," Joe said.

"But SoundBoy died fighting the Spectaculars," Zoe said.

"I faked my death so I could live in peace," Joe said.

"Mom, are you a super villain too?" asked Zoe.

"No" replied the mother.

"So you've been a criminal this whole time," Zoe says angrily.

"Ex-villain, it's been a long time and I've never done anything wrong again," Joe said.

"So it was a former villain this whole time, is there some other secret they're keeping from me?" asked Zoe angrily.

"Yes, but it's better to forget about it," Joe replied.

"I want to know," Zoe said.

"Daughter, listen to me when I say it's better to forget, you're okay is what matters" said the mother.

"We'd better keep it a secret and get on with our lives," Joe said.

We left the lair and went to the living room, I was still angry and wanted to know what they were hiding from me. That night I went to see Joe.

"Hi," Zoe said.

"Can't sleep, I'm sure," Joe said.

"Yes," Zoe said.

"Want to talk?" asked Joe.

"Yes," Zoe replied.

"Do you and my mom have super powers? Have you ever killed anyone? What was it like to be a supervillain and why did you become one?" asked Zoe.

"I've never killed anyone, your mother doesn't have super powers, I have the ability to heal myself and I became a super villain for personal reasons" replied Joe.

"What personal reasons? What do you mean by healing powers, didn't you send out destructive sound waves?" asked Zoe.

"My personal motives are secret, and the sonic powers were because of my fantasy," Joe replied.

"The other secret you guys have, could you tell me?" asked Zoe.

"Sorry, I better ask your mom," Joe replied.

"Because?" asked Zoe.

"It's complicated," Joe replied.

"Why did you decide to tell me the truth?" asked Zoe.

"I decided to trust you, good night" replied Joe going to sleep.
