CHAPTER 30 ALL ALONE

Garen slept peacefully, without any one disturbing him, and woke up at dawn. Taking some time to mediate and refine his control over his soul energy before he leave his tent.

Garen left his tent and stood outside. He stretched his body, and gazed at the mountain peeks. They shot through the clouds like pillars supporting the heaven, and serene atmosphere came upon him.

Meanwhile the camp was eerily quiet. The walking bandits tried as much as possible to reduce the sounds of their footsteps and they all talk in wispher. It was as if even the birds and crickets had also joined in a competition to see who could keep silent the most.

Garen didn't bother about the strange atmosphere and kept on gazing at the majestic mountains peak. And he suddenly thought of how great it would be if he one day, stand at the peak of a mountain and gaze at all creatures like ants.

The young boy let out a Condescending laugh, and threw away the strange thought. He his nothing more than a lucky brat who had the chance to become a sorcerer, his only wish is to become strong enough to direct his own life, and he had no extravagant thought of being the chosen one nor ruling the world.

"garen." a gruff voice and a pat on his shoulder brought him back to himself, and destroyed his serene atmosphere. Garen already knows who it was, after all, he his only close to a single person among the whole group.

"olauf" he said without turning back and shrugged the hand off his shoulder.

Olauf kept his hands to himself, and relayed his message to the boy. "pack up, we are returning to the hideout." olauf's face was as calm as always. The death of 20 bandit seem to have no effect on him.

Garen looked at the man's scar covered face. At first, he would always get scared or frightened, but know, he his used to it so it didn't feel all frightening as before, bit not anymore. This is the most frightening face now. How dare feast return tithe hideout. 300questpoint in on the way and it's right in front of him, how dare they dash his hopes.

"am not returning. I have an important thing to take care of in whiteriver city. So, I am sorry but I can't return with you." garen can't let this chance slide. Even if he there was no quest, he would still go. After all, this is a chance to improve his sorcery. When he created his soul palace, his master told him then, that though he his now a full fledged sorcerer, he his even weaker than apprentice, since he spent too little time studying and most were rushed.

Now, he has the chance to rectify his weak foundation. A chance to really become a proud sorcerer, how will it let go of it and return to some obscured hideout.

Olauf raised a brow at the reply from the kid. He didn't understand why the boy would refuse to return back to the hideout. But it's still the boys choice. This place is really close to the city and the bandits are less active here. Should they go out of their way to loot or kill, the northern shield army, or the city guards are not against making extra Rollins out of them.

"fine." olauf said, he thought for a while and continued "you can continue onwards to whiteriver. But be careful. There might be some desperate bandits who have nothing to lose, so you have to be careful." olauf warned the boy, and laid out things he had to watch out for.

Garen didn't think he have to nag so much. It would only take his four hours to arrive at the city. It shouldn't be that hard for him, after all he his still a sorcerer even if he his the weakest type, he Gus still one.

Garen accented to all his words, even though his mind was else were. He watched on as the bandits pack up and quickly picked up anything that wouldn't slow then down, while leaving the bulky goods.

Barnuld's face was scrunched up through out the ordeal. He looked as if everyone owed him money and his handsome face was twisted. Though, he kept throwing some glance back at Garen.

Garen at first thought the guy was thinking of dealing with him, after all, the signs seem o suggest that. But, he felt it would be an insult to the guy's intelligence. He had already raked in so much loss. Would he also risk losing more men just to end one small grievance. After all, it was not barnuld he attacked.

Garen threw all about the bandits and barnuld at the back of his head. He looked forward to his new life and couldn't wait to arrive at whiteriver.

As the group finished packing up, and set out, so did garen. He spurred his horse south east, and he could already feel the cool breeze from the city.

After two hours on the road, garen stopped to take a rest. Though the horse could still go on and didn't seem to be tired yet, garen is only a human, albeit a string human. He still needs food.

As be tied the horse to a tree and took out some rations to eat, garen kept on replaying all that had happened all this while in his head. His increased intelligence also add him have a good retentive memory. While going through it all, garen couldn't help but think that he might be wrong this time about. The young boss might actually sent someone after him. After all all clues pointed at him being some who's pride is more important than reason. And he wouldn't take being slighted go down.

So garen sat where he was. He wanted to wait see Is deduction is correct. And also, he could use the extra time to extract soul energy from the soul orbs he had on him.
