When the heart is involved

"How, how did you know? It's just something small, it cannot hurt anyone."

"Ah, your first mistake is saying "It", your gift is part of you, like any other part of you. And it is also the way to resolve what you came here for. Like the others, you wanted to know if your husband would die early, yes?"

The Mayoress looked down bashfully and slowly nodded, David knew they were teen sweethearts and John Hylan had left his home to work hard, not only for his family but to make a home so he could bring the then Marian O'Hara to his side.

"If you had accepted your gift you would not need me, you see your husband has a weak heart, and early January in 1936, at your home, he will pass. As you are now though, you do not have the ability to help him. I can help change that, but it will involve a great risk for you." David grinned slightly as he explained.

"What do you mean risk? Will it mean I can save my husband?"

"Well, I can unlock your power fully, and it will mean you can easily heal your husband, you will regain some of your youth, you would live for a few hundred years. Or I could unlock just enough that you would be able to heal most injuries, but you would need to wait for your husband to have his heart attack to heal him and you would continue your lifespan as you are."

Without hesitation, she replied, "I would want to live my life with him and die with him. But what is the price?"

"The price is simple. You need to reveal your Evolution to him within one month after I Evolve you further."

Chewing her lower lip, she asked, "How can you be sure I will be strong enough to heal him?"

"If, on the night it happens, as long as you call me within 4 hours, I can guarantee I am able to revive him." Although he was sure he could just re-create her husband if need, he did not want people thinking he had unlimited god-like powers. This way he would just warp reality and turn back time for the body, although 4 hours was by no means his limit.

"What? You can do that? Who, no, what are you?" As she asked this question in a slight panic she glanced around, realizing her friends were still frozen.

Smiling David responded slowly, "I am the first Evolved, I came before all others. Do not be concerned, it is you and I that are not at the same time as them. I moved us into our own reality where time moves a lot faster."

Taking a big sigh, she nodded, "Okay then, I agree, when can you do it?"

Chuckling David pointed at her, "I just did, you have one month."

Since it was only a gentle nudge the Evolution caused almost no pain, but the Mayoress seemed to realize she had evolved as she nodded to David, "Okay, thank you, Mr Bater."

"Thank you for what Marian?" Mrs. Mitchel asked as it seemed they were all back in the same reality.

"Oh, nothing, something I need to work on myself." The Mayoress smiled slightly

"Well ladies, apart from my dealing with the Mayoress, I do have one bit of advice, but it is not the kind any woman wants to hear. Is it something that I should say?"

The woman looked among each other and slowly nodded, each one seemed to be dreading he would direct this to them.

David looked towards Mrs. Walker, "1932 will be a harsh year for your husband, some might feel he has done things he should never have, and on a personal level, you and he should be parting ways. Although the year after Ms. Betty Campton should be happy to be with him."

Mrs. Walkers' eyes began to tear up, as David reached forward and smiled, "You though, will remember none of this, your friends will, and they will be there to guide you."

The tears dried up almost instantly as she looked around at the concerned looks of her friends, "What wrong? Did I miss something? Aww common, tell."

Only Mrs. Collins seemed a little confused, the other two adapted fast and laughed, reassuring her they were just jesting with her.

"Very well ladies, there will be noting more today, so be safe."

They thanked David, more so for letting Mrs. Walker forget, then left in an overall better mood than they arrived.
