Chapter 62: Call with Pang Lai (2)

" It is still in the early phases, it is a long term investment,so no payouts expected in the near future"

" It seems I have to go now, my teammates are waiting" said Pang Lai with a sigh, "I'll hear from you afterwards, yeah and the person you've been wanting to meet is in Ancient Capital for the next three days. Go see him".

"Alright".

His teacher, Pang Lai had been away as soon he was accepted as a disciple. He and a team of friends were preparing an exploratory trip to one of Forbidden Lands for Humans, Antartica or as it was called in this world the Southern Ice Realms.

They had been planning and collecting information for about an year. And tomorrow they take off from Ushuaia in Argentina. They were all peak Super mages minimum yet the trip would break them.

Cao Guang knew what exactly his teacher would go throw and how the trip would change him. His teacher was brash, outspoken and aggressive, he wasn't the nurturing master that Jiang Yu had.

He also hoped of being the first Forbidden Curse mage of Summoning element in recorded history. He had been hoping to gain something out of this trip to Antartica.

He left as a Peak Super mage with Super powers and Soul seeds or equivalent in every element, came a back a Half step Forbidden Mage in more than one element. But he still claimed the trip had humbled him.

This was the nature of a Forbidden Land. Cold southern winds blew as strong as an Advanced spell every second even when it was weakest. The icy breath invaded the body like poison and made one rot and die from the inside as one took one's breath.

The Southern Ice Emperor was one of the strongest individuals on the Planet and one of the contendors to be a Plane dominate.

He had warned his teacher indirectly but Pang Lai was sure the trip would be conducive to his cultivation one way or another.

He just hoped the guy returned alive.

"You're transferring to the Pearl Institute in Shanghai, why I thought you just got promoted to First Lieutenant" asked Song Xia.

In fact it wasn't just Cao Guang, all them had become Second Lieutenants. Song Xia was just suprised why Cao Guang was moving to the Pearl Institute.

"I am not quitting, it's more of a long term mission that I have to do, besides the group was about to be split up as well".

"True, but what's the mission?"

Cao Guang's unwillingness had piqued Luo Heng's interest.

" Something related to a Formation that the Dean of Pearl Institute is working on, I don't have the details myself yet".

"Brother, how about I come as well. We are about to split in to other groups as well" Gao Xuan asked.

Lieutenants needed to lead larger squads and needed to either have exceptional combat prowess or specialise. The group was going to be put into a few specialist squads temporarily to be assessed.

"Your missions has been decided, I was just going to mention it to you guys. Song Xia is being posted at Tarim Basin, Gao Xuan is going to be a part of the Qinling expedition from their side and Luo Heng is staying here in Ancient Capital".

Cao Guang had spoken to Fei Jiao after his call with Pang Lai. He wanted Cao Guang to be representing the military, but now he had share credit with Pearl Institute, why would he be happy?

But he gave in, when Cao Guang mentioned a few details of his plan. It was something the military had been crowing about, Cao Guang merely used the fact in his favour.

The military were curious what Formation he could come up with when he was researching on Ancient Capital's and Qin Emperor's history. They had supported him on the matter with resources.

Initially he had zero interest in doing anything significant to the field, but because he needed to move to Pearl Institute, he gave the military what they wanted. He would work with Dean Xiao to make his own ideas from the future a reality. Everyone was happy and got what they wanted except maybe Dean Xiao.

But the man didn't seem a credit hog.

As for why Gao Xuan was a part the expedition from Qinling's side, it was because the Southern HQ called of it from Ancient Capital's. They would still have a small base on the foothills of Qinling but wouldn't be heading over.

The Qinling military were supposed to take things slow as well. After Jinling City they didn't want to rush in to building a city on frontier lands.
