Chapter 61: Call with Pang Lai

A day had passed since Jinling had fallen. Cao Guang and his friends had finally gotten the drink they were craving. They had gone to a famous barbeque place in Ancient capital.

It seemed that none of them could hold their liquor. Sad and out of tune songs flew out of their mouths after three shots and a couple of beers. Neither their wounds nor their worries mattered anymore as they sang till their hearts or ears exploded.

"You guys suck...Hick, I am leading by two shots now Hick" Luo Heng gulped the rest of the sentence along with his drink.

Throw a bunch of young adults into a barbecue slash bar, all sorts of weird games were sure to emerge.

"It doesn't make sense.... why you don't have ,,,,, a second Contracted Beast yet?"

asked a sloppy Song Xia.

"Look at you still thinking about cultivation"

Gao Xuan chided "you have to learn to relax as well, like my brother here just did".

This went back and forth until they passed out...somewhere.

"Could you please talk a little softer" Cao Guang retorted.

"Nonsense, your hangover should be over by now it's already the evening again. Now back on question how's the Little Flame Belle's cultivation and what's with your wolf, why isn't he a great warrior yet".

" He is close might break through in a day or two. Little Flame Belle is still in her mid to late adolescence, no quality of food can make up for the time she needs unless I feed a Heavenly seed fragment"

"Or you are too soft on them and let them slack of too much, okay that aside, I will only be returning a few months before your tournament and you might not be able to talk to me for some time from now on.

So I want to know about your plans and stuff. You are going to take part in the World College tournament from the military's side right?"

" Yeah that's something I been thinking about. Do I have to be representing the military. They only have two slots, regardless of Gao Xuan, Song or Luo Heng, they are all more than capable of being the military representative."

"It doesn't work like that"

"Yeah I know that's why I don't want to represent the military. I can have your vote and the vote of Zhan Kong's teacher. That's two if I join a university like the Pearl Institute then I can gain the institute's vote and the Dean's one. With four votes I can take part in the World College tournament without occupying one of the military slots"

" Just say that you want your friends to have an extra slot, no one's judging here" Pang Lai chided "But your plan depends on whether the military and the Institute would want to share the credit for you. You can't just double dip in the resources. The institute won't have a problem, they are a getting a seeded candidate for nothing but the military not so much. Besides you won't be the Captain, if you aren't representing the Military"

" Yeah but will it work?"

"Like I said as long as you don't hope to double dip for resources it will work, the choice is yours whose resources do you want".

"I see, indeed the three step tower is indeed an irresistible offer for you, I'll see to it"

" One more thing, I found a promising young mage in Jinling, can you help me get him into the Pearl Institute as well" interupted Cao Guang.

"Of course while we are on the subject, how about a couple more of your neighbours from Bo City as well. The Brownie points must be good."

"It's not like that teacher, the kid's kind of talented, Primary Chaos mage with innate talent for it as well".

" I'll see what I can do, don't forget about the money you owe me, and how is your business going".

Of course Cao Guang would empty as much Water of Kun as he possibly could from the villages before he left.
