014 - Project Akkadian

[November 7th, 1951.]

Mike was in his lab looking down at an electron microscope.

He was writing down sequences in a notebook while muttering to himself as music played in the background.

It had been a pleasure seeing the star live, which was impossible in his previous life.

Nicole had been an avid record collector, but any good ones were always out of her reach so in this life Mike had decided to buy future collectors' pieces as they came out but not just records. He included Coins, Cars, Stamps, books, art, wine and other novelty items.

He even had a small aerodrome. His prize planes were three Supermarine spitfires, a Mk I, IX, XXIV. He also had planes from America, Japan, and Germany.

He had also bought several historical sites that would fall into ruin or disrepair. As well as several Chinese relics that would be destroyed eventually by the communist government there.

All this had been donated to his own Cane Trust which was a registered charity. This basically meant that anything he buys on a whim can be classed as a charitable donation.

The wider scientific community just thought he Michael Cane, head scientist at Augur technologies, was an eccentric genius/hoarder.

Nicole had always thought that when she heard about a millionaire owning several cars it was stupid. But now he had turned into one of those people.

But to him everything he did had a purpose.

Augur technologies only really provided funding and manpower to other companies and institutions and took a percentage of any profits.

That was their entire policy, to be as anonymous as possible.

When they donated or invested in something it was through multiple different shell companies.

If they bought the stock of a company, it was limited to fifteen percent and was divided between several shells that officially were all clients of their trading firm.

The only exception to their rule was McDonnell Douglas which he had personally also bought ten percent more of because he wanted a personal phantom when they started production in ten years time.

Currently he was doing research into a personal project of his. Project Akkadian was a little thing he had been working on for years and it was almost complete.

There were several projects that Augur Tech was working on for the future but this one only the council knew of.

It was essentially a dissection and application of the super soldier serum that Erskine invented.

'He really was a genius at genetics, if I could have I would have saved him.' He thought to himself.

'Maybe, I should help Isiah Bradley from being experimented on by hydra. It would not affect the timeline to much.' He continued to think in his head as Claire walked in she was wearing a blue dress covered by a white lab coat as she approached and kissed him on the cheek.

She currently had a small bump on her belly as Mike continued to look down the scope but put one hand one the belly as a smile formed on his face.

Basically, the serum application could be divided into three steps. That was the reason why all the attempts to recreate it failed. First when the serum is injected a few cells are genetically changed to be whatever you wanted.

Then the serum starts causing those cells to multiply faster than the regular cells. The vita-rays just speed up that process.

So the actual genius part is the part of the serum that causes the modified cells to divide more than the regular cells eventually replacing them. After all it was impossible to have every cell in the body changed but if it didn't then it would cause problems down the line.

Mike had improved the serum for eventual use in his plans except they would not need any vita-rays this time.

He had begun tests on mice and then pigs and had decided to begin on human trials.

Jim would be an obvious guinea pig. Hopefully the effects would keep getting stronger until the effects where fully realized.

[2 weeks later…]

Jim had been injected with the serum and he had experienced slowly increasing effects. His reaction time five years ago was 194ms and before the dose had dropped to 274ms.

Reaction speed was the first thing that would start to weaken in the human body.

But it had already decreased all the way to 207ms and was improving each day.

"What did you put in me." Jim asked while rubbing the back of his neck since he was sweating a lot recently.

Mike replied with a smirk a he lent against the doorframe. "Mostly wolf a bit of other things." As soon as mike realized he was in a world like marvel he dreamed on using genetics as a means of enhancement like in the TV series Hanna where the main character was genetical altered as a fetus with wolf DNA.

But with Erskine's serum as a base he could apply changes to fully grown adults.

[Another three weeks later…]

Jim had shown almost no side effects. It was kind of scary actually. His reaction speed had dropped all the way to 104ms which was creepily quick. He could now read perfectly fine with the minimalist amount of light. His IQ had gone from 91.34 to 101.48 but had averaged out at around that since so only a slight increase of intelligence. His bench press had gone from 142lbs to 183lbs.

He had even sparred with Lucas who was a more competent fighter and lets just says that Lucas had his arse handed to him so he asked to get whatever Jim was getting.

[A few months later.]

It still sends shivers down my spine looking at the results on a natural warrior like lucas.
