Misty was adamant that she and Ash wait inside their leased room on the second floor of the Pokémon Center, despite the fact that there was no notice on the door when Ash and Misty returned to the room after their visit outside the Pokémon Center to check on the Pokémon's condition. The room was nicely furnished, and although it was on the smaller side, neither of the trainers reported feeling claustrophobic in it. The room featured a compact bathroom, a kitchenette with a refrigerator, a table that seated three people, and a stove, as well as two twin beds that were situated on opposite sides of the room.

When the trainers entered the room, Pikachu and Growlithe were found dozing off on one of the beds, curled up next to one another while they slept. Pikachu immediately jumped up into Ash's arms and skittered up to sit on his shoulder. At the same time, the orange canine jumped down from the bed and walked over to the door while happily exhaling. He squatted on his haunches as if he were going to maintain watch over the chamber and prevent anyone who might try to enter from doing so.

"I guess this will be my bed," remarked Ash, sitting down on the one which Growlithe and Pikachu had occupied a minute before. He removed some of the orange fur that had fallen off the comforter with a brush. He inquired of her in the most courteous manner possible, "Misty, do you have a moment to spare?"

Misty sat down on the bed on the other side of the room from him and crossed her legs in an Indian fashion. "I think I can spare a moment," she said. "What's on your mind?"

After giving it some thought for a while, Ash planned out precisely how he was going to enquire, and then he immediately dismissed all ideas of deceit or circumspection from his head. "I need to know what you know about Team Rocket," he said, point blank. Nobody in the room failed to notice that Misty was uncomfortable and twitching. "I don't know anything about them, yet despite that, I still get the impression that they're completely depraved. You, on the other hand, appear to be at least acquainted with the current events to the extent that you know about Cerulean Cave and a little bit about Team Rocket.

Misty didn't answer and Ash let the sentence hang in the air for several long seconds. Ash stated, "I'm not accusing you of anything" in response to the question. "I just don't feel fully comfortable flying with someone when I don't know whether or not they're involved in anything they're not telling me about."

Misty spoke to her, her tone icier than usual, and stated, "I've saved your life more than once." "And I've agreed to assist you in delivering this Pokedex item to the acquaintance of Professor Oak. Is that not sufficient evidence to show that I am, at the very least, on your side?

"I'm not saying you're not on my side," Ash said, trying to sound less confrontational at this point in the conversation. "I'm not even suggesting that there are actually any sides to take in this debate. I do trust you. Even though we've been on the road for a relatively short period of time, you've already proven to me that I can put my faith in you... I simply need to know if you are aware of what is taking place.

Again, Misty did not respond, and again, Ash simply let the statement hang without further comment. It was a strong desire of his, but he knew it would be a mistake to press the issue at this time. He wanted to ask her to tell him her story, to tell him why she was suspicious of the police and how she knew as much as she did, but he told himself that it would be a very poor time to do so. He did, however, take note of the fact that Misty had not taken any steps towards retrieving any of her pokeballs. Growlithe and Pikachu both watched the exchange with caution and wary interest.

You put your complete faith and reliance in me. Misty stated.

He was unsure if she had made a remark or posed a question, but he nodded his head in response either way. The response that he gave was, "I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it."

Misty took a deep breath before continuing to stare at the ground for a few more minutes, and Ash waited patiently for the time to pass so that the atmosphere could become a little cosier. The individual with orange hair and a trainer introduced themselves by saying, "I can't say anything much." "There are some things that I am not going to tell you, but I need you to have faith in me when I claim that none of the information that I am omitting pertains to you. It's just little details about my life that are my business. Can we both agree to that?"

Immediately, Ash gave a confident nod. "Sure," he said. "I don't care how you found out; that has nothing to do with me." I simply need to know what information you have."

Misty let out a sigh and then straightened her posture as though to brace herself. She responded with "all right." "I've known about Team Rocket for a long and you have to believe me when I say that they are rotten to the core. They're accountable for a lot of horrible things and the world would be a much better place without them. They have people who patrol the wilds and the roads and will kill travellers without any hesitation to get at their money and take their Pokémon for themselves.\s"Team Rocket is evil," she emphasised each word. "And I'm convinced that if nobody stops them then something bad will happen. I don't know what, and I don't know when, but I'm sure they're planning something horrible and whatever it is, it has to do with whatever is in Cerulean Cave."

Ash opened his mouth to speak, wanting to ask her why she hasn't gone to the police with that information, but it immediately occurred to him that she wouldn't talk to the police for the same reason she was being so elusive with him; it would drudge up details of her life that she obviously didn't want out in the open. Ash closed his mouth and continued to think about what he wanted to ask her. Then why is it that all of a sudden you trust me? He had a question in mind, despite the fact that it became clear very immediately. He came to the conclusion that she could not possibly have another man. Because neither one of us truly has anyone else, she will be travelling with me for the same reason that I will be travelling with her.

Misty said, "I've been trying," she said, "for quite some time now to do everything I could just stay out of the way of everyone's path, but I'm thinking that living like that isn't really an option anymore." "I'm thinking that doing that isn't really an option anymore." She looked up and met Ash's gaze calmly now. "Ash, Team Rocket has to be taken care of. I can promise they're the ones behind the food shortages and this is merely the beginning. She took a deep breath to compose herself and said, "They won't stop until someone actively puts an end to whatever it is that they're planning." "Is there anything else that I can help you with?"

Ashely sat against the wall with his back against it and folded his arms across his chest. "Well, right now all I really need to know is how we are going to stop Team Rocket when the police can't do anything and we can't go to the with what you know," said Ash. "Well, right now all I really need to know is how we are going to stop Team Rocket," said Ash. This was only partially accurate; Ash nearly bit his tongue when he wanted to query her about the origin of the information she possessed.

Misty remarked that this was the crux of the issue. "If I knew what anyone could do to stop them, I would do it in a heartbeat." If it had been up to me, I would have finished it already. To the general public, however, Team Rocket is seen as nothing more than a collection of volunteers and community organisers. We can't just go around trying to expose them, that wouldn't be appropriate..."

Again leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees, Ash stated, "Well, based on what officer Jennifer said," and added, "it seems like they're pretty desperate to get into Cerulean Cave." Ash was referring to the group that was attempting to enter the cave.

Misty responded with, "Which is nuts." "That location is on par with the deepest abyss of unadulterated hell. Some of the less deadly aspects of the cave include rivers of acid, clouds of noxious fumes, and Pokémon that are known to be particularly violent. If they are bringing in heavy machinery and guards, then you can bet that they are trying to get to whatever is at the bottom, even if no one is even sure what is at the bottom.

Ash inquired, "Is there any other entry to the cave?" while also pondering the possibility that Misty, once again, was concealing information from him.

"Not to the cave per say," she said. "Yet, there is yet another path that leads down to the lowest floors." Ash questioned, "Which would it be?"

Misty laughed a hollow chuckle. "There's a good explanation for why Team Rocket is going the way they are... The Elite Four are stationed at the other entrance to the lower level to provide security.

"Just a moment," Ash said. "How did we make the transition from discussing Team Rocket and Cerulean Cave to talking about the Elite Four?"

Misty assured everyone, "I'll be there in a moment." "All I'm doing is trying to explain everything to the best of my ability," she said.

After repositioning himself on the bed, Ash folded his arms across his chest once more. "Sorry," he said. "There is simply a great deal of information to take in."

Misty responded, "I know, but the fact of the matter is that you're the one that wanted to know." She did not wait for his response before continuing on with what she had to say. " The lower chambers of Cerulean Cave are linked to a tunnel that leads up to a gigantic funnel-shaped complex of caves and tunnels known collectively as "Malebolge." This complex of caverns and passageways is connected to the upper chambers of Cerulean Cave. After coming together to form one large tube close to ground level, all of these tunnels eventually form a cavern that is situated extremely high up on a mountain to the west of here. Malebolge is home to some of the most vicious and strong Pokémon in the region, but despite that, Indigo Plateau, the biggest and most opulent metropolis in the known world, has risen up just outside of the entrance of Malebolge.

Misty proceeded, adopting a tone that was almost instructive and stating that "this is possible because of the Elite Four." "In an effort to protect not only Indigo Plateau but also the rest of the globe from the perils that lurk within the caves, the entrance to Malebolge has been fortified by an enormous network of underground vaults and structures that are maintained and managed by the Elite Four."

When Ash slowly began to understand, he continued, "And with the most strong trainers in the world right there," he said, "Indigo Plateau is secure enough that it can develop and thrive." It makes sense, so all we have to do is get to the Elite Four, tell them what Team Rocket is up to, and let them take care of it."
