Chapter 12 I Wanted To

His eyes held her gaze for a long moment till she decided to lower her eyes.

"Look at me." He commanded and she did just that afraid to upset him. He pulled her into his arms making her rest her head on his chest.

She could hear the steady beating of his heart which was like music to her ears. Her eyes slowly closed as she fell into deep slumber.

Lei opened her eyes to an unfamiliar room. She almost panicked but remembered that she got married just yesterday and this was probably the prince's room.

She buried her face into the pillow which had a minty scent just like him. She wondered where he was and what he was doing. She was bored and needed someone to chat with.

Just then, the doors opened and she lifted her head from the pillow and who she saw made her remember that popular saying 'Speak of the devil and he shall appear.'

He was holding a breakfast tray in his hands as he walked up to her and kept the tray in front of her.

"You did not eat anything last night." He said coolly staring at her.

"Thanks, but you didn't have to." Lei said

"I wanted to." Ashton responded.

Lei smiled and immediately started eating not caring that there was someone else in the room looking at her like she was some kind of test subject under experiment. It was only after she finished her breakfast that she looked back at him.

"Did you like it?" He asked and she nodded in response. "I won't be around for a while. I'm going somewhere."

"Why? Where are you going?"

"To Zenith. I have some business to attend to there."

Lei was a little confused. Where is Zenith?

"It is the capital of this Kingdom." Ashton said answering her unasked question.

"When will you be back?"

"I don't know yet, but I won't stay there for too long."

She couldn't hide the fact that she was a little saddened. If he didn't even know when he would be back, then there was a possibility he would stay there for weeks, months, or even a whole year!

"What about my governess?" Le asked instead trying her best to mask the sadness.

"You don't need one." He pecked her cheek and looked at her one last time before walking out of the room leaving Lei who was still a bit shocked by what just happened.
