Life Can Surprise You

My whole body was weak and aching, but what was more surprising was the fact that I could feel it, why was I conscious? I'm supposed to be dead...

It felt like failure almost, at least death allowed an end to my suffering, even if it meant I'd never see the moon outside TCRC, I wouldn't have to wake up again to see these gray walls and smell the frowsty air that surrounded me all the time.

I finally braced myself to open my eyes and see the same 4 walls that always bring me melancholy.

I opened my eyes, the bright lights dazing me temporarily.

Once I finally looked around I realized I was in the intensive care sector.

I'd been here once before, a very long time ago when finally something they had done to me caught up, you would think when someone is dying, they'd save resources and let the person die, but that was never the case.
