Mother of the Werewolves

Camilia groaned, her head pounding. She stood in a white room, there were no doors or windows, just pure white walls. Camilia touched her shoulder, feeling no pain as she did. She looked down, frowning as she saw she was wearing the navy vest she had been wearing in her dream. She pinched herself, feeling the small sting. So this wasn't a dream. Camilia found her breathing becoming restricted. She had no idea where she was. All she could remember was the moon swelling in front of her, the wolf on top of her.

For now, she had to find a way out of here. She looked around the room, seeing no opening, but she had gotten in, so there had to be a way out.

Camilia jumped as a woman floated through the ceiling, light radiating from her. Camilia froze, her chest vibrating as she clenched her teeth. She paused, did she just growl? What was she, an animal? She shook her head, glaring at the woman approaching her. She clenched her fists, ready to punch the lady and demand her freedom. Who cared if she was floating, or glowing? She wouldn't be able to keep Camilia here.

The woman smiled at her, a crescent on her forehead starting to glow. Camilia found her eyes drawn to it, the moon from earlier coming to mind. She relaxed, feeling peace wash over her.

"Hello, child." The woman said, landing next to Camilia.

Camilia lept to the side, a fraction of her guard returning, "Who are you?" Camilia snarled, her senses heightening she could see everything, the dust in the air, the woman's soft breaths. Her gentle, but calculating stare.

"I'm Luna. The Goddess of the moon." She gave another gentle smile, "The mother of werewolves." Camilia found herself tensing. Werewolves, was that why she wasn't guarded around this lady. Was she becoming a werewolf?

"Nice to meet you," Camilia said, unsure how to address a Goddess. Should she bow? She thought of Neil, how would he react to this situation. She thought of Ryan, what would he say? She pictured his stance, casual, yet confident. She tried to replicate it, spreading her stance just a fraction, meeting the Goddess' eyes. If she was going to be struck by lightning for being disrespectful she should get that over with.

Luna's eyes brightened as she saw Camilia's change in stance. The sound of crickets filled the room, making Camilia jump, searching the empty room. She saw nothing. Did that mean the Goddess sounded like crickets when she was happy? Camilia grimaced, what a pain, to always have your emotions on display.

"Sorry, but can I go home now?" Camilia asked, that was her most urgent need, she could figure werewolves out when she was safe. She could have time to think rationally then. Her eyes started to ache at the constant light and her white surroundings.

Luna nodded, "I'll send you back to your world soon. I just wanted to warn you that the process of turning into a werewolf is a hard one." She looked at the ceiling, "Werewolves are headed for disaster."

"And that is why you needed me?" Camilia asked, wondering if it was this flying lady's fault that she got attacked. Her hand clenched as she prepared to punch if the Goddess said yes.

Luna blinked, "What?"

"Just checking this wasn't a 'chosen one' situtaion." Camilia responded, raising her hands to appease the confused deity. She had read plenty of novels, this was something she had to check, she wasn't about to embark on any journeys to save the species that had attacked her.

Luna laughed, "Of course not. I already have prepared a new alpha. I was wanting to apologize to you. Werewolves don't usually attack people in parks."

Camilia nodded, liking the Goddess a bit more, "Good. That's a wise thing to do." She looked at the Goddess, at her inky navy hair, like the sky just past midnight. She had pearly lorals in her hair, the leaves of the white plants fragile and delicate.

"Yeah, you're definitely a Goddess." Camilia said, figuring the robe she wore had to be centuries old.

Luna nodded, "I'm glad I have your approval." She reached into her pocket, pulling out a navy bracelet, "Show this to a trustworthy werewolf and they will help you." She smiled, waving her hand, Camilia watched the room fade, replaced with darkness.

Camilia felt her shoulder start throbbing, she was in a lying position. She opened her eyes, letting out a small groan as she rolled onto her uninjured shoulder. Her bitten shoulder pounded, every inhale she took making it ache more. Camilia stared at the door in front of her, the wood had scratches on it. She started listening, she could hear a boat's horn, and voices. Loud voices that were talking and laughing outside of the room. The floor was cement, making Camilia start to shiver in her short-sleeves and basketball shorts. Camilia felt a presence, someone was here. She closed her eyes, hearing steady breathing behind her.

Camilia sat up, turning to look behind her. Brett lay unconscious, his head almost touching her leg. Camilia looked at him, his black hair was disheveled and he had a bruise on his collarbone that showed because of the rip in his shirt, but Camilia didn't see any bites. Camilia felt a wave of relief, Brett would be okay. Once he woke up they would find a way out of here and they would be okay.

A stray breeze blew by Camilia, she stuck her hands into her pockets, searching the room for the breeze's entry point. Camilia's eyes rested on a window, propped open with a small stick. Camilia stood up, inspecting the window. It was a good size, about 3 feet wide and 2 feet tall, it would be a tight fit, but she could make it. She lifted it, trying to see where the building was. She stuck her head out, gut dropping as she saw the plummet. This building was on the edge of the cliff, a steamboat passing below her in the river that separated her city, Erying, from their neighboring town, Holland. Camilia licked her lips, the window would not be a way out. She looked at the stick holding it up, wondering if it could be used as a weapon. The stick was nailed into the wall, only allowing it to keep the window closed or open, not to take the stick out.

Camilia sighed, walking back to sit next to Brett, she stuck her hands deep into her pockets, wishing the air didn't feel so cold. Her right hand brushed something, she furrowed her brow, grabbing the object. It felt like rope or string.

Camilia pulled her hand out, seeing the navy bracelet Luna had pulled out in her hand. Camilia wasn't sure when the Goddess had put it in her pocket, but here it was. Camilia looked closer, seeing small white dots on the string bracelet, making it shimmer like the night sky. She smiled, slipping the bracelet onto her wrist, a small wolf head pendant now dangling off her wrist. She took a deep breath. She had just talked with a Goddess, she could make it out of here. Maybe Luna had gone to alert trustworthy werewolves of her predicament, she had seemed to want to help her. Maybe she would come herself, she could come and save Camilia while correcting her errant wolves. Camilia relaxed on the ground, hoping it wouldn't be long before help arrived.

"Let's see if they're up yet!" A man's voice yelled, the voices becoming excited. Camilia froze, that wasn't the attention she had been wanting.
