Chapter 4: A deal with Corazon

Lami collapsed onto the floor which caused her brother to panic yet again and rush to her side." Lami! Are you ok? Argh not this thing again wake up!," he exclaimed pulling her body to his side.

" Hoi Law? Was it what's wrong with that brat," growled Doflamingo , looking down on the siblings in a crisis.

Law looked up to Doflamingo before replying," We don't have enough time to live, I haven't told Lami but she has less than two years to live due to the White Lead disease and I have less than three, I saw our medical record our dead father was a doctor." Law stated with a horrible tone.

' Nani these brats are dying? With all that skill and talent especially that young girl? I need to find a way to cure them that way I can turn them into loyal pawns'. Doflamingo's thoughts raced as he thought of many possibilities.

' This girl showed amazing martial arts skills when she fought Diamante, and the look in Law's eyes, I know it too well that boy is like me filled with hate, seeking only power and destruction, he would make a good right-hand man in the next 10 years' Doflamingo turned to the siblings and said," I made my decision".

All the members of the Don Quixote including Law turned to Doflamingo waiting for his decision with bated breath.

" From now on you two are members of the Don Quixote Family, friendly reminder I don't tolerate betrayal also your sister has to teach some of my men her martial arts skills, and you Law I will train you to be my right-hand man in the next 10 years," announced Doflamingo with a sinister smile.

" Why would you train me to be your right-hand man?" asked Law, his voice filled with suspicion and worries".

" Because I like that look in your eyes you have the quality of what I'm looking for it's filled with desire for power and burning all that stands in your way, and why do I know this you may wonder that because I have experienced it, Yes! Law you are just like me a being made to cause destruction and destroy all!". Law looked at Doflamingo stunned at his sudden claim.

' Nani? Was I made to cause destruction?' Law started to question himself wondering if Doflamingo's words were true or not.

" In ten years I and Lami will be dead, there is no way we can live that long," Law stated causing Doflamingo to grin.

"Since you two are now part of my family I'm going to help you find the cure for your illness, we often deal with devil fruits in the black market, if you are lucky maybe we'll find something that can help," replied Doflamingo, his smile turning into a smirk.

" If that's what it takes to protect my little sister then so be it I'll be a devil that slaughters anyone to ever tries to bring any harm to Lami". Doflamingo chuckled seeing the fire in Law's eyes.

" Someone get that brat a doctor, We don't want her to die too soon". added Doflamingo as he walked away, his plan to turn Law and Lami into loyal pawns in motion or so he thought.

[ A week later]

Law had a very hard time these past few days because Lami still hasn't woken up from her coma. He spent most of his free time by her side, holding her hand hoping that she will awaken.

During this past week, Law has been acquainted with all of the Don Quixote members except for the one who is currently away on a secret mission. Most of the members were welcoming towards him, but one of them had shown his hostility from the very beginning they met.

Law has been physically abused these past few days by a man named Corazon, who turned out to be the little brother of Doflamingo who is mute and he hates kids.

At this current moment, Law and the rest of the members of the Don Quixote Family are on a mission where they are eradicating a town named Rakesh which betrayed them by allying with other groups.

In the hiding base of the Don Quixote Family, Doflamingo was currently taking a nap in his office, while Law and the others were currently out on a mission. Meanwhile, Corazon was walking to a room where an eight-year-old girl( It was never specified how old Lami was so I went with 8) layed on a bed with white marks all over her body, clearly suffering from a serious illness.

Lami looked like a white zombie well except for her hair which has regained its original color which is brown with her heart now beating strongly. Corazon was stunned by how this girl can recover while simply sleeping for days on end.

As he watched her sleep, Corazon decided to take out his den mushi and made a call.*Pepepepepe* The person on the other side of the call said," Rice crackers".

" Rice-cracker pellets, It's me" replied Cozaron, his voice low so as not to wake up Lami." Oh it's Rosinante, isn't it?" the voice came from the transponder snail.

" I'm giving you an update on the current situation," said Corazon as he continued to explain the state of Lami which shocked the person on the other end of the call.

" Nani she did not get killed by the Lead disease and can heal while she sleeps is she a master of Life Return?" the person on the other side of the call decided to ask.

" I have no clue after all I heard she is trained in martial arts," responded Corazon." She is trained in martial arts, such talent at such a young age she is terrifying," replied the person on the other side of the call.

" Well enough of that, What are Doflamingo's current objectives?" questioned the other side of the call.

Corazon then went on to explain the current objective which is to eradicate the people from a town named Rakesh which has betrayed them by allying with other groups.

" Rakesh I see continue monitoring Doflamingo and inform me if they make a move to the sea," the voice on the other side of the call instructed. Corazon nodded as he was about to tuck away his transponder snail and continue watching over Lami, but as soon as his gaze met her his body froze with shock and horror as he saw Lami sitting on her own and staring him directly in the eye and staring with a grin on her face.

Moments ago before Corazon made his call, Lami regained consciousness and had been awake the entire time.

After Lami heard the sound of someone she didn't know she decided to wait and listen only to realize that someone under Doflamingo is working with the Navy, and is planning to betray the Don Quixote Family.

Lami after she collapsed she spent the week trying to cultivate her body to speed up her recovery process. Due to this world not having Mana her cultivation has been rather difficult and she could not get rid of the lead poison in her body completely.

As Lami listened to Corazon while he was on a call, she realized that there is a traitor in Doflamingo's rank.

" I don't remember seeing you before Rosinante who the hell are you supposed to be?" Lami exclaimed as soon as Corazon was done with his call. Corazon froze realizing that Lami is aware of the entire conversation he just had.

' I have been caught? did she hear the entire conversation?' Corazon couldn't help but think to himself while making a horrified expression on his face.

" Yes, I heard everything to think Doflamingo has a traitor amongst his rank interesting," remarked Lami with a sly grin that sent a shiver down Corazon's spine.

' Wait she can read my mind? What's wrong with that brat and that creepy smile of hers?" Cozaron thoughts were currently racing as he realized he was caught.

" No I can't read your mind but everything is written on your face," Lami said letting out a chuckle.

" You don't have to worry about me, Rosinante I won't go sabotaging your plans after all I'm planning to desert Doflamingo as soon as I gain enough strength to survive on my own with Law," Lami added making Corazon widen his eyes in shock.

Corazon couldn't believe what he had just heard. He was afraid to ask but couldn't resist himself," Desert Doflamingo? So why are you joining him in the first place?" Lami's grin widen more as she questioned," Like I said I'm only joining him until I gain strength?"

Corazon nodded slowly processing the information he just received." But why join Doflamingo specifically you could have gone to the Navy if you wanted help to grow stronger?' Lami shrugged in response," Doflamingo was the only available source, and I'm still not sure of what happened at Flevance but I'm sure the Navy is involved in some way or another".

Corazon nodded in understanding,' So she hates the Navy and she seems too smart for her good,' thought Corazon as he looked down at Lami.

" So yeah why do you want to betray Doflamingo anyways," Lami decided to question Corazon.

" Doflamingo is my older brother I have seen his cruelty and I cannot support his actions anymore," answered Corazon with a serious expression on his face.

Lami nodded and responded wisely," Family could be a burden sometimes, trust me I know," leaving Corazon to ponder in silence.

Corazon had a sense of relief when he realized that Lami was not a threat to his mission and she seems to have the desire to leave Doflamingo in the future. However, he couldn't help but fear her intelligence at such a young age and her unpredictable nature.

" Just so you know I won't be keeping your secret for free if you know what I mean," Lami added with a mischievous smile causing Corazon to sigh. Corazon knew that she was a smart girl and will not hesitate to blackmail him if necessary to get what she wants.

" So what do you want?" Corazon asked, knowing that Lami already had something in mind.

" I currently have zero knowledge of most of the things going on in the pirate world so I need you to collect any information that seems useful," requested Lami with a serious expression on her face.

Lami used the term pirate world so that she could hide the fact that she is from a different world and has zero knowledge of the current situation in this world.

Corazon nodded but couldn't help and added," Is that all you need?" Lami smiled back," It's not all but it's the start, I want to know everything about Doflamingo and his operations so that it's easier when I decide to make my move against him," stated Lami with determination.

" Oh yeah I'm also in need of some martial arts techniques, to be specific I need one where I have complete control over my body parts even the ones inside my body," replied Lami causing Corazon to nod.

' Seimei Kikan, I see she wants to learn that technique so that she could try to heal her body from the inside out,' thought Corazon to himself. Corazon realized that Lami's requests were not unreasonable so he nodded.

" If I could get you the martial arts techniques that you need will you keep quiet about everything that happened in this room?" asked Corazon hoping that Lami would not ask for more.

" Of course Rosinante, I'll keep my end of the deal if in the future you stay out of my way and don't interfere with my plans," replied Lami with a sly smile, causing Corazon to gulp.

" Deal, also stop calling me Rosinante, call me Corazon," said Corazon confusing Lami for a moment.

" Why Corazon, isn't Rosinante your name?" asked Lami puzzled. " The Don Quixote Family and Doflamingo call me Corazon and they also have no idea that I can speak just fine, they think I'm mute," explained Corazon.

Lami nodded in understanding and replied," Damn Corazon, you are full of mysteries but I respect that".

Corazon gave Lami a small smile before leaving the room and heading outside to get some fresh air.

Hours passed by and everyone returned to the Don Quixote hideout everyone was seated at a big table having dinner.

Lami noticed some tension between Law and Corazon but decided to discuss it after dinner. Sometime during the day, Law stabbed Corazon but when he found out he was still alive, he started to panic and thought that he has told Doflamingo.

" I'm relieved to see you alive brat, I was getting worried that you will die without me paying you back for the humiliation you brought me," said Diamante with a sinister smile.

" Oh really now I wish you good luck with that Diamante," replied Lami with a smug smile.

" His right Lami we're all glad to see you have woken up," said Doflamingo." Now I can properly welcome you into the Don Quixote Family," added Doflamingo.

Lami smiled in response knowing that with the deal she struck with Corazon she won't have a hard time when she wants to pursue her goals in the future.

" Now that you have joined the family I want you to teach some of my men those martial arts techniques you are skilled in," Doflamingo stated breaking Lami's train of thought.

Lami nodded in agreement, ' As if I will share my best techniques with anyone, maybe with Law but anyone else can forget it,' thought Lami but replied with a polite smile," Of course Doflamingo, I'll do my best in teaching them," promising to herself that she will only teach them the basics moves and keep the advanced techniques for herself and Law.

" Now that we have that out of the way, let's discuss the next order of business," stated Doflamingo, as the group turned their attention to the topic at hand.

" We'll start moving our base towards Reverse Mountain in the southeast and I want everything to be ready before we move," declared Doflamingo.
