Chapter 3

Rose Keegan ❀

I sigh to myself once more, looking outside at the window beside me. Knowing it's pointless to just stare outside and do nothing about it.

My professor said I had to join a group in order to finish my project, but at this point, I would rather work alone. Or just failed…

It doesn't feel right to just share my ideas with others, besides the project I'm working on is a sensitive topic to me.

Reincarnation.

Why should we write an essay about this? It's not like George Washington was reborn, but then again I was reborn. Yet no one knows about it.

Does it mean I was the only one? Was there a reason why I'm still here? Why am I here?

Am I here to die again?-

"Rose, Bella, we have a visitor." As my mother shouted from outside our bedroom, and Bella quickly ran first out to greet him downstairs.

"Arthur! What a surprise!" Hearing Bella, giggling at him.

I smile as I see them now both holding each other close.

Love is crazy…

"Just came here to drop off these for you m'lady," Arthur said and kissed Bella's cheek, as she blushed furiously.

Bella gasped at the sight of roses in a vase next to her, without noticing at first.

"Arthur, nice to see you again." Mother interrupts them from all the kisses and hugs.

"Likewise Mrs. Keegan."

"How was the work opportunity?" We turn to see our Father, who came from the kitchen, with his apron still on.

"Honestly, it wasn't that bad," Arthur says, chuckling with his thoughts.

"How so?" Bella asked, in curiousity.

"Mister Billionaire wasn't what I expected he would be." He said, honestly.

"Oh?" I question, wondering what he meant.

"I'm guessing he isn't a playboy as they said in newspapers." Mother answered, nodding in understanding.

"Yep. He's definitely an awkward type." Arthur responded as we all chuckled.

Imagine that.

"Huh, you learn something new every day," I said, and I looked at the clock on the wall.

Almost dinner!

"Also, Miss Bella, I believe you owe me a date this Friday."

"Oh, stop it Arthur."

"Never love."

As they headed first to the kitchen, my mother stopped in front of me.

"What's wrong?" She asks, looking at me with concern.

"Oh? Nothing, just…tired of my recent assignment. That's all." I said, looking away from her stare and shrugging away that feeling.

"Is there something bothering you again, honey?" She asked again, and I knew I couldn't tell her honestly.

"No…" I mumble in reply.

"Come on, your father and I have been worried about your recent school activities, even after fall is coming up." Mother said, and I nodded.

Being reminded that my first life isn't just Autumn being my name…

Every fall, every year during fall, I go into a deep depression. A phrase, that's what my family calls it.

I don't understand why, it was like I'm not myself anymore. But even after fall ends, everything goes back to normal.

An example of my depression is when I wake up screaming at night with this same awful nightmare of death.

I knew the reason why, why go into a deep depression. Yet I couldn't tell.

It's because I'm reminded of the date of my first life, the first time I felt dead… Every Autumn year after I was reborn, felt like I died.

Knowing this, I died before Winter came in my first life.

Autumn doesn't just mean my name in my first life, but the date I died.
