Chapter 29 - Misunderstanding

Once face to face in Dominic's office, Kang Lei, tried his best to hide their nervousness.

"I hope I didn't cause you any trouble requesting you here on such short notice" Dominic spoke first, staring intently into Kang Lei eyes.

"Oh... no Mr Lanxian, it was no trouble at all" Kang Lei replied nervously, taking a seat opposite Dominic.

The air around them was filled with a mixture of nervousness and curiosity. One thing for sure was both were perplexed as to what they were feeling and why.

Dominic, who had never felt this sort of pull towards another, was most intrigued. Though slightly nervous, in the presence of the man before him, he was surprisingly comfortable. For the past days he has been dealing with such severe headaches, but the faint pheromones coming from Kang Lei were soothing to the point where he felt little to no discomfort, it was baffling.

Dominic decided to test Kang Lei's reaction to his pheromones, he would often see fellow alphas do this on unsuspecting omegas, often releasing such a strong dose that the poor omegas are forced into heat, it was such a despicable and shameful act.

However, he didn't intend to harm Kang Lei, just see his reaction. Releasing a small amount of his pheromones, he was taken back when Kang Lei closed his eyes and inhaled as if he was enjoying his scent.

"What am I doing" he thought to himself, a flashback of his earlier conversation with Michael popped into his head, making a slight blush appear on his cheeks, "god that serum is making go crazy" he thought, clenching his fist to calm himself.

At this point, Kang Lei appeared even more uncomfortable and his face was red from embarrassment, "no…did he just see me enjoy that…. Why did he release his pheromones? His he is testing me? What? His he one of those alphas who prey on their omegas?... oh no, this is bad…. This is bad…. I liked it… I can't believe I liked it... what should I do, should I tell him I can't work here any more?" thoughts after thought was running through Kang Lei's head

Sensing Kang Lei's uneasiness, Dominic immediately regretted his actions, for a short moment he had lost his sanity and became one of those he despised the most.

"Ahem…. Mr Lei, I had called you here today, because there are some formalities I need to through with you before you undertaken your employment here. First, are there any special requirements you need to inform us about?" Dominic asked, trying to regain his original focus.

"Erm… Well..." Kang Lei paused, he was feeling uneasy after what just happened, but looking at Dominic again his heart wavered, "erm well I have a son are there any arrangements that could be made to accommodate that…. Erm what I mean is… his childcare I don't have anyone at the moment.... so could I have some time to arrange that after working here for a month….. I know I am asking too much and I apologize… but" Kang Lei stuttered slightly, nervously playing with his hands. "Oh god, what am I doing? I should be running through the doors, not asking for help…. Wait… why am I worried it's not like I am going to ever see this alpha again, if I make sure to keep out of his way… I should be fine…. What was I thinking…? I need this for me and BoJing… come on Kang Lei, don't get swept up by his handsome face and erm…." again Kang Lei debated it over in his head.

"Am aware you're an omega, and you will need time off for your heats, that is no issue and is part of our employee benefits package, you will also be paid for such leaves. In regards your son, do you not have family or a husband that could help", Dominic was wise with his words, he was somewhat relieved at the request, but he was also feeling uneasy, "from what I saw in his file he was an unclaimed omega and no husband" he thought to himself.

He had asked, hoping to find out more from Kang Lei before Michael's investigation.

Upon hearing Dominic's words, Kang Lei was reluctant to say that he would really appreciate if he could leave early to pick up BoJing. However, He didn't want to appear unreliable, and besides he really needed this job for him and BoJing.

"Oh, come to think of it, I think I'll be able to arrange something for my son, after all" he awkwardly answered, shamefully looking down hiding his gaze away from Dominic.

"Is your son's father going to help" Dominic asked coldly. For some reason Kang Lei's answered infuriated him, he didn't understand why that would be a problem when he had only just met this man, "gosh… feeling is annoying" he muttered lowly under his breath.

The sudden coldness in Dominic's voice startled Kang Lei, he quickly answered "I... have no partner... am BoJing's only father" he quickly averted his gaze away from Dominic, and solemnly continuing in a low voice "his other father died before he was born".

From Dominic's perspective it appeared as though Kang Lei was sad at the thought of BoJing's father dying and this made him even more annoyed. It was bad enough that someone else had touched him, but now it looks like that other person held a special place in Kang Lei's heart. An unfamiliar feeling came over Dominic, he had the urge to dig that man's body up and kill him all over again. The man he wanted already had someone he cared about, and this made Dominic extremely jealous.
