Chapter 28 - meeting Dominic

Early in the hours of the morning, as Kang Lei laid asleep next to BoJing. He was awoken to the sound of his phone ringing.

At first, he thought it was his alarm and accidentally declined the call without looking, a few seconds later his phone again started to ring. Realization dawned on him, he quickly jumped up, picking up his phone to check the caller ID. He didn't recognize the caller, so he was a little hesitant to answer. After a short pause, he decided to find out who it was, but didn't answer straight away, instead waited for the other side to identify themselves.

"Hello... Mr Kang Lei". A male at the other end asked, his voice sounded firm and strong and for an unknown reason, Kang Lei's heart began to race, he wanted to hear more, those simple words made him excited.

Kang Lei struggled to get his words out, "Y... yes, ahem... his him, may I ask who's calling", he spoke with a soft voice.

There was another pause, then the voice replied, in a gentler tone.

"This is Dominic Lanxian, sorry to call you so early in the morning and on such short notice. But do you have time today to meet with me and discuss your recent employment?"

Kang Lei froze, his hands began to shake, he couldn't believe it was him, the one and only Dominic Lanxian was calling him personally. He had assumed someone of his standing would have a secretary to carry out such a tedious task. "His voice it sounds more relaxed than before, and it's so manly, I've never heard and alphas voice so…errrmm…"

"Hello... Mr Kang Lei, are you there?" Dominic's called out after there was no responds for some time.

Dominic's voice pulled Kang Lei from his thoughts, "Y....yes... I'll come right away, I'll drop my son to school and ma..." Kang Lei began to say

"Mr Lei, please don't rush, take your time, I'll wait for you" Dominic interrupted, he didn't know why, but he wanted to make a good impression towards this person.

Kang Lei, on the other hand, became stupefied at Dominic's unintended words "I'll wait for you". 'He'll wait for him', thought Kang Lei, he felt that the man on the other end was trying to give him heart problems too early in the morning. Placing a hand on his beating heart, he could feel it beating fast against his chest.

"Thank you, Mr Lanxian" he said shyly, as he went red in the face.

"No problem, Mr Lei, please come to my home when suitable, again I apologize for calling you so early, and I'll see you shortly". Dominic Softly replied as he terminated the call.

Kang Lei dropped his phone, then placed both his hands on his face and shook his head vigorously, trying to rid himself of all his indecent thoughts.

Kang Lei had never had such a reaction towards an alpha before, "maybe this internship is a bad idea, why am I acting this way?" he mumbled to himself. Since hearing about Dominic from Grandpa Chong, and getting a somewhat warning from Andrew, he had imagined Dominic to be the A-typical egotistical alpha, who thought the world revolved around him, but did the odd good deeds to make himself look good for their own selfish ego. God knows he's come across too many self-loving alphas, who thought because their alpha status meant all must bow to them. Hence, over the past week, Kang Lie was quite apprehensive knowing he would have to a face-to-face meeting with such a man.

Kang Lei quietly got up, not wanting to wake BoJing, and went to the bathroom to take a cold shower.

"Dammit! I didn't expect him to sound like that…. How am I going to hold a conversation with him face to face? ... ahhh… never mind that the more important question is WHY! Am I acting like a teenage school girl.... I must be going mad?" Kang Lei argued to himself, whilst standing under the shower with his arms against the wall and his head hung low, allowing the cold water to beat against his body.

Dominic was just as flustered on is end, after viewing Kang Lei's picture, strangely he hadn't been able to get Kang Lei off his mind, he was going to wait for Michael to send him the information he had requested. But he grew impatient and wanted to see Kang Lei as soon as possible, so even before his HR had got the chance to call and arrange a meeting with Kang Lei, he did so himself.

"Maybe that serum affected more than I thought", Dominic muttered to himself, rubbing his throbbing forehead. Since collapsing, his headaches has been getting worst, and he has been finding it hard to control his pheromones, not to mention the excruciating pain coursing through his body. Additionally, The atmosphere around the mansion has been bothering him, "how bothersome", he muttered bitterly to himself.

By the time Kang Lei got dressed and dropped BoJing to school, it was already nine in the morning. He didn't want to keep Dominic waiting, so he ran to catch the earliest bus to Dominic's mansion. On his arrival, he was greeted by the mansion butler and lead directly through this house that looked like a palace to a large door. The Burler lightly knock the door and spoke, "Master Dominic, a mister Kang Lei is here to see you". Immediately, Kang Lei's hands began to shake, and his heart was beating incredibly fast.

It didn't take long for Dominic to respond, "come in", his voice was cold, and stern, startling Kang Lei. Compared to the tone Kang Lei had heard earlier in the morning, this sent chills down is spin. The butler opened the door, stepping aside and lightly nodding, telling Kang Lei to enter. But he hesitated, looking questioningly at the butler, who gave him a light smile before stepping away. Kang Lei's cautiously stepped through the door, his heart was beating so fast he feared Dominic would hear it.

"Mr. Lei, you're here" Dominic spoke.

The moment Kang Lei's laid eyes on Dominic, he felt the blood drain from his body.
