Manipulated me successfully

"So, how was your interrogation with the department? Did it go well?"

"I-I didn't go there." Both Kelan and Sutasi looked shocked as I thought.

"What?! But why? Didn't you leave Mr. Heriss's place for that reason?"

"Yea' I did but I got into this kid."

"Kid?" (Kelan)

"Kid?" (Sutasi)

Up until now, they didn't even notice that there was a child right next to me.

They gazed at the boy throughout as if he was an alien.

The boy became embarrassed by that and hid behind me.

"Then what? Are you gonna adopt him??" As expected from Kelan. He would say such things.

"Don't be ridicules! Why would I? I don't even have a place to live and I would take a child with me? For what? to die?" I yelled out and then again calm myself, "Here, this is the address his father gave him and told him to got there." I handed the paper that had the address written on it. Kelan lifted the paper in front of his eyes and Sutasi peeked onto it.

"Huh? This… This is the location written on it. Why is it written the store's address?"

"That's also my question."

As we are discussing that matter, Mr. Heriss entered the chat.

"What's happening here? Huh? Jodan? Why're you here? Did you leave something behind? Or did you regret the choice you made?"

"Wait! Wait! One question at a time." I was successful in stopping his pile of questions. "First, I didn't regret the choice, I haven't gone to the department yet, I got caught into this kid…"

I gave him a brief summary of what did happen and what was unknown to us. After hearing all about that he nodded slightly while thinking. Kelan, Sutasi, and I waited for him.

"I see, that's bad, The child is someone's I know. Dr. Luther Adan. This kid must be his."

"But how can you be so sure?" Kelan asked. "You might be wrong."

"I'm sure of that. Looking at the handwriting I can tell that it was him. Sadly, he had to die horrifically." Mr. Heriss seemed depressing to me as if he had lost a comrade. Whether it was an act or not that's only he knows. I don't trust anybody except humans. They can't hide their emotions.

"He was a researcher. Recently he was doing research on us." He didn't want to spell it out in front of the kid, I supposed. "He did his major in psychology and effectively got a job in the police department. He helped me in many ways and I'm grateful for that. He provided solid information about the police as he held a superior position in the police department. He left his child to me."

He went near the boy, "you might be Zane Luther" The boy nodded in affirmative.

I spoke out, "If he didn't do anything wrong why would he have to be killed? He didn't kill anyone, Did he?"

"You can't distinguish everything with right and wrong, Jodan. There lays both good and bad inside of us. It's up to us who would we choose. This world is an exam hall. You have to use your intellectual ability to pass the exam. You can't always take the good guy's side. A certain choice can change how you see the world."

"I see, that might be true in some cases. But—" I was interrupted by that kid.

"Papa told… me to come to this address." That kid further added, "Papa told me to run here, the people living here would help me."

What kind of father is that? Leaving his child in the midst of deadly monsters? This shop is filled with them? There's no way that he could be safe here. But before I could say anything Mr. Heriss took the lead.

"No need to worry, little prince." Huh? What kind of name is that? Is he the prince Bahamut from MNVrop?

[Note: Price Bahamut is a noble person and dark character from the virtual reality game MNVrop. It's well known in the young generation.]

"Hey? How can he live here after all you guy---"

Kelan interfered again, Why was everyone eager to stop my conversation in middle. Was I spelling some kind of curse or what?

"It's fine, we can manage. There wouldn't be any problem." What? It's not like you got a step-sibling, it's A HUMAN CHILD. Your instinct would kill that small child. Did he not understand that?

"Fine then, but beware of the consequences," I said as I gave up trying. After all, why would I care about that kid who I don't even know much about? "I should get my way now."

Saying that I left the shop and began walking onward.

*Aren't you worry about the kid? Would he be safe there in the middle of them?*

"I don't care. I don't know him. I'm just a stranger who helped him out of misery. That's who I'm to him. Besides, I helped him more than ever, I'm not privileged to help him anymore."

*Yea' You're right. However, don't have your heart aching?*

"Don't blab nonsense! Why would my heartache?"

That old fart must have gone out of his mind again. I should focus on my life. What I should do? Right, I should give a visit to the police station. Correct, that's my prime object.

"Papa…. Died….."

Shi*t why am I remembering that scene. That kid's face kept appearing in front of my eyes. I was getting flashbacks of the times I spent with him.

*Sill not returning? You're not very far away.*

"Ahhhehh!!" I screamed out of annoyance. That old man manipulated me successfully. Now, I have no choice to but stay with that kid. Sh*t this sucks.

I turned away from the direction I was going and started walking back to the shop. Why I'm doing it? I didn't even know what was the reason I was coming back to those monsters I hated.
