A Chance Of Freedom [3]

Mr. Lukas said that he had something to deal with. No, someone specifically to meet today. I was a bit confused as to who could he be meeting at the prison wand but I got my confusion vanished as I saw him asking for Renar. Apparently, Renar is held in the 4th wand. As Jodan is in the torture cell, 4th wand it made everything easy. Mr. Lukas just needed to ask the guard for an appointment with Rener. I didn't go inside with Me. Lukas in the negotiation room. But I know all the things that happened. The CCTV camera had a microphone on it. The moment Mr. Lukas went inside, I hurriedly came to the monitoring room, asked the guard to hand me one of their headsets, enlarged the camera placed on the room. The quality was crappy but it was adjustable. There's some part where I couldn't grasp what was happening. Seeing Mr. Lukas coming out of the room, I rushed as if my life depends on it. The quick ran exhausted me much. I would never run like that. It's pretty painful. Looking at my exhausted body, Mr. Lukas grinned. To be honest, I got scared that what if he found the truth.

"I made a deal with-" He was giving a pause for no reason.

"With Renar! That's absurd Mr. Lukas!"

So, you heard everything?" Shit, I took the bait. Mr. Lukas didn't pause for no reason. The reason was to ask me.

"Y-yeah…" I said while looking downcast. A single drop of sweat poured down from my forehead. "Ah! It's all right. Now, I don't have to tell you from the start." He straightened his hands in both directions. He knew that I was glazing at his conversation with Renar. The moment he came out of the room, he got that possibility conformed. It's not like he would scare me or something.

"Do the paperwork for me."

"Paperwork?"

"To get the official permit to take Renar in the torture room. " I did know that Mr. Lukas made a creepy deal like that but I got my confusion. This is way too risky.

"Is this really gonna be alright? I have full faith in you that you wouldn't do anything that would mess the whole thing but it's too risky, to be honest. Having Renar and Jodan in the same room is not something anyone would want to do." I spoke out of my mind. This is wise to predetermine this matter otherwise who knows what would happen.

"I know. I'm way of doing is harsh but this is the only way. Jodan wouldn't speak without us interfering. Renar would do the talking, we just have to take the stage for them. A monster can communicate with a monster. It's the thing that we humans are not capable of." What Mr. Lukas said was indeed the truth. Jodan was not speaking anything that would lead the case, it would be a hinder if he keeps up this. To fast things up, Mr. Lukas took the action of using Renar. It's not a full-proof plan but it works in one way or another.

"It's just a possibility. What….what if… Jodan is not what we think he is?" I finally said it. It's bugging me for a while. I wonder what Mr. Lukas would say. We were on our way to get the paperwork. Mr. Lukas was in deep think but as I uttered that his eyebrows cross in anger.

"It can't be. He's a Monster! And it's a truth no one can deny. If you're saying that he hadn't have the real system. Like he's some kind of delay. That would be possible if we didn't get to see the CCTV footage. It shows proof that he's indeed the person who picked up the diary. By going through the logics we found, the system chooses persons who touched the diary first." Mr. Lukas completely shut the possibility I created.

Within a few minutes, we have reached the place where an officer was seated in his chair, a table with many pages of printed papers was shattered. He was looking at one for a few minutes and then pass on the other one. It continues in a loop. Mr. Lukas stepped and interfered with this loop.

After doing some chit-chat with him we got the paperwork. Mr. Lukas handled them and directed me to do it quickly. It was surely a pain in the ass. Who would do such things nowadays? All the guards have tablets on their hands. Why would we have to go through this? After successfully filling the papers, I passed them to the officer. His loop of work again interrupted as I did that. A pissed expression was all-time visible on his face. Mr. Lukas was fidgeting with his phone and made a call to Ms.Clara. Then with a smile on his face, he ordered something that I couldn't grasp. He has a creepy grin all the time after we caught Jodan. Was it a curse or what? I didn't understand why he was grinning all the time. I prefer the cold-hearted Mr.Lukas who would never smile not even when a person cracks a joke. The heartless Mr. Lukas was the usual one. This seasonal one is hard to use. Seeing me glazing at him continuously grasp his attention. As he put down the cell phone, he uttered responding to my intense glaze. "It's preparation for Renar's arrival. He needs a great party for his long last meet with his future and his detached friend."

"I understand the 'future' part but detached Friend?"

"You're getting old, Reyes."

"I should be saying that."

"It's the torture cells. The friendship that he never wanted."

"I see. I must have hated it much."

"Of course, it might be his worst nightmare."

The office had finished checking the paper I handled. After giving a slight nod he passed it to a person who was standing right beside him. Was he always standing there? Probably not. The office might have called him. Anyway, the paper would now be passed onto the prison master. He would now do the finishing touch.
