Chapter 27. Into the flames

Dungeons , no one knows where they came from but all of a sudden they just started to show up almost a hundred years ago , different analysis have been done to try to discover the secret of the dungeons , but the dungeon is still a mystery .

A dungeon as been classified as a distortion in space which lead to a plane and depending on the rank or type of dungeon , a dungeon may have three layers like floor for a rank C and fire type for monsters which natural habitat is a place abundant in heat, the heat in the dungeon will be able to kill an average man in seconds but with the use of a portion it will be fairly manageable, which means an A rank dungeon will have more than Five layers floor and the monsters there will be stronger than C rank monsters which means they will need more fire to survive or at least can tolerate more heat , the heat coming from an A rank dungeon will kill a man even with a high grade potion.

Mages have tried to figure out why when entering the gate it takes you to another plane , they couldn't figure out the how and the why but they did have an idea of what was going on , they believed it was a distortion in space which not only transferred the adventurers to another plane but also keep the monsters inside trapped inside.

The monsters in a dungeon have always been mysterious entities , The first explorers of the dungeon tried to reason with them and create diplomacy with them but they where always hell bent on killing who ever enters the dungeon , no one knows how they got there or why they can't come outside from the dungeon and it was believed they where trapped inside until the first dungeon break occurred killing over ten thousand people it was a B ranked dungeon which had not been cleared yet , the mages didn't know monsters in the dungeon could come outside they believed they where trapped inside.

But thirty days after a B rank dungeon gate appeared People where busy with their day to day activities when they heard a shattering sound like glass breaking , when they saw where it was coming from they saw a crystal like glass shatter the crystal was like a barrier of some kind that trapped the monsters in but with the Crystal gone all of a sudden a hand came out from the gate , immediately the 9 feet long humanoid abomination came through the gate it gave a mighty roar .

The inhabitants of this particular dungeon where tall humanoid creatures with red thick skin it was completely bald , fat with a large stomach of a drunkard with monstrous strength carrying what seemed like a large wooden stick , and they all wore tattered clothes made of animal skin covering their buttocks and where mostly armour less, who where giving the name orcs.

The sound of the dungeon giving a shattering sound still caused nightmares for those who survived it and this phenomenon was latter called a dungeon break due to the dungeon shattering an invisible barrier which kept the monsters inside.

They caused the destruction of a lot of villages leaving destruction in their wake , the adventurers and knight tried there best to kill them but they had abnormal healing ability with a thorn limb growing back in five minutes , they did manage to stop their destruction but they couldn't kill them all , when the dungeon released this creatures they kept coming till they reached tens of thousand , There was no way the dungeon held this much beast unless they where coming from another plane into the dungeon , which is why mages viewed the dungeons as a distortion in space.

The trolls fled into the forest and steadily grew in numbers until they reached tens of thousand making themselves one of the inhabitants of the planet .

No one knows what this creatures where but they started calling them orcs, the first dungeon break ended up in another species inhabiting the planet , ever since then the dungeons as always been top priority ,but even though they tried to prevent the dungeon break of dungeons the adventurers couldn't be every where and some dungeons which were located in tricky places like under water couldn't be cleared allowing more dungeon breaks which led to more unknown creature into the planet , and an example of those creatures are Goblins who broke out from a C rank dungeon.

After the first dungeon break the kingdom started to take dungeons seriously, researchs where conducted on the monsters in the dungeon and the mages discovered a ground breaking discovery , the monsters in the dungeon carried a type of crystal inside them a crystal that will come to be known as beast crystals found right next to the heart or brain for most species of dungeon beast , a lot of magical experiment where taking to know the use of this crystals and after a lot of failed experiment they finally discovered they could be used for a lot of things like crafting equipment and armour or to power high MANA using equipment.

Dungeon cores were also discovered by the mage , this cores on like the crystals where the heart of a dungeon and taking it out of the dungeon will lead to a dungeon collapse , Dungeon cores held unfathomable Mana which are used to power magical equipment ,but this Dungeon cores are protected by the strongest entity in the dungeon who will risk even their lives to prevent the capture of the dungeon core , this strong entities in the dungeon where given the name boss monsters due to other monsters following their orders .

Research was later done to discover why higher ranked monster have more powerful and shiny crystal or why after a dungeon break the magic crystal suddenly vanish from the monsters body and nothing was discovered.

Although the mages had managed to clear some mysteries of dungeons they are still clouded in a thick layer of mysteries, but one thing is known for sure a dungeon break is a deadly disaster .

Entering the dungeon The adventurers couldn't help but be taken aback by the heat in the dungeon if not because of the fire resistance buff potion they used they would have been steamed from the heat alone , but still with the potion they still found it very uncomfortable with many adventurers already sweating buckets .

This dungeon had the design of inside of a cave with magma coming out from the wall and a pool of lava just to the warriors side the cave had stalactite hanging from the ceiling and if you look closer you will discover that lava seems to be flowing inside the stalactites.

There was a path available to move through the dungeon just wide enough for the group to move without worrying about the lava pool.

" Dammit man it fills like I'm been cooked" , one of the adventurers said.

" Well we might be with this type of heat" , another said .

"But how come those guys there don't look like they are feeling the heat" , another said pointing to the place Avrion and Zatiel stood with some A rank adventurers.

"We are going to have to stay here a while the B ranked Don't know how to use MANA reinforcement so they need to get used to the environment so we will be here for a day", Avrion said.

"What do you mean, we can't stay here a whole day we will be wasting precious time", Vastor said.

"Silence you fool when grown ups are talking children don't talk ", Mariposa said.

"What did you say old hag "? , Vastor asked

"Me old hag , I am going to teach you a lesson," Mariposa said.

"Stop it you two, do you want to draw the beast to us" , Zatiel said.

But just then an adventurer who was standing by the lava pool noticed something moving in the water .

Before he could do anything two lava beast standing 12 feet came running out of the magma pool with magma flowing through their veins moving at high speed towards the warriors.
