The Origin of Rampage

The situation on the scene was no longer something that could be gradually planned and controlled. Everyone, following Nighteye's command, charged out directly at the same time.

Everyone was aware of Nomu's power, so the fully armed special police were responsible for evacuating the crowd and setting up a defensive perimeter. Dealing with Nomu was left to the Pro Heroes.

As the No.1 Hero, Endeavor naturally took the lead and charged forward without hesitation.

After merging with the Phoenix flames, his power had undergone a noticeable transformation in just a few short days. Anyone with keen eyes could see the difference.

"Hmph!"

Watching a nearly three-meter-tall Nomu charging out, Endeavor accelerated and unleashed a burst of flames directly onto Nomu.

Then, the change in strength became evident.

Endeavor's original Quirk, 'Hellflame', mainly focused on explosive and impactful damage during battles. However, when the flames reached Nomu, there was no explosion or intense commotion. Instead, they quickly spread and enveloped Nomu entirely.

Nomu struggled relentlessly in place, unable to free itself from the burning flames specifically targeted at it. After just a dozen seconds, it burned to ashes.

Upon seeing this, Renault couldn't help but whistle. "This newly developed ability is impressive. It can easily grind down villains."

"Something doesn't seem right..." Endeavor, however, wasn't as pleased. He looked at the ashes on the ground and the lingering flames. He waved his hand to extinguish the fire and said, "Although this new flame can have such an effect under my control, it's not yet to the point where it's impossible to break free. This Nomu seems to have no intention of escaping, just flailing around."

"Hmm, it does seem a bit off." Renault agreed, looking towards the battlefield in the distance. He used his black hole teleportation to capture a Nomu that several special police officers were struggling to contain, bringing it back and slamming it onto the ground.

"Groaaaa! Aaargh!"

Suppressing Nomu with irresistible strength, Renault held it down while Nomu desperately swung its arms, attempting to grab Renault, who was controlling it.

Directly grabbing hold of Nomu's claws, Renault broke both its hands, realizing that something was indeed amiss.

On Nomu's head, the bulging blood vessels were highly pronounced, and its eyes were visibly protruding. Its actions were also different from any other Nomu they had encountered before.

Not only was it brutal, but it also seemed more chaotic, clearly out of control.

After observing for a while, Renault snapped Nomu's neck, and then he and Endeavor split up, each dealing with the Nomu that had appeared outside.

Meanwhile, inside the still unconquered base.

'Doctor' stood in the secret chamber, looking at the shattered cultivation tank in front of him, his face filled with frustration.

At the doctor's feet, a Nomu that was about the size of a small dog, but with a unique appearance, bit his trousers and then pointed at the surveillance camera in the room.

"Right, surveillance!"

The doctor immediately accessed the surveillance footage from the secret chamber and finally witnessed the whole process.

Initially, the secret chamber was calm, but suddenly, the chamber's large door started shaking and was smashed open after a few hits. A Nomu that had just completed its cultivation in the tank appeared, directly shattering the only cultivation tank in the chamber.

Then, a figure fell out of the tank and struggled for a moment before grabbing a white lab coat within the chamber and escaping.

And that Nomu followed suit.

"Could it be that she has developed her own thinking? But how is that possible?"

The doctor's face was filled with disbelief. However, he didn't have much time to dwell on it as a warning sign lit up in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Nomu had been mostly dealt with, with only a few still wandering inside the stronghold. The Pro Heroes had also entered the stronghold.

"We have no choice but to abandon this place for now. As for her, she shouldn't be able to run far. We'll search for her in secret."

After saying that, he immediately operated the console, deleting all the data and picking up the little Nomu by his feet.

"Let's go."

Immediately, black mud began to emerge from Nomu, enveloping both of them, and disappeared.

Inside the base, as the Pro Heroes rushed in, they immediately confronted the remaining rampaging Nomu.

While battling the Nomu, Renault also observed the surroundings.

"Indeed, the situation here wasn't triggered by the villains themselves. It seems that for some reason, the Nomu went out of control."

A fiery punch sent the charging Nomu flying. Endeavor said, "It looks like we won't be able to capture the person in charge here."

"Most likely. I just wonder what happened to that secret room we mentioned earlier."

Advancing quickly, whether it was Renault or Endeavor, they didn't concern themselves with the lives of these Nomu. Their attacks were all lethal, even against several strength-type and defensive Nomu, who couldn't withstand more than a few moves.

Soon, everyone arrived at the planned location of the secret room and witnessed what was inside.

Bending down and looking at the shattered glass on the ground, Renault analyzed, "There is indeed something inside here, something the doctor highly values. I'm just not sure if he took it with him or if something unexpected happened here."

Walking alongside Renault, Endeavor asked, while gazing at the cultivation tanks ahead, "Do you think this could be the reason?"

"Very likely. But we can't pinpoint the exact reason." Renault nodded, brushing his hand over the liquid flowing on the ground, leaving behind a touch of blood and a strand of purple hair.

'Hair?'

Nomu doesn't have hair, and judging by the texture of this hair, could it be from a human?

An idea began to form in Renault's mind.

Unfortunately, under the current circumstances, Nighteye's ability wouldn't be of use either. There was no target to foresee the future. The data from the computers in the base had been completely erased upon inspection.

Nevertheless, all the Nomu in this place had been completely eliminated, dealing a significant blow to the villains and the elusive doctor.

After cleaning up the aftermath and conducting another inspection of the surroundings, ensuring no Nomu had been missed, the sky gradually darkened.

"It's raining."

With the operation concluded, Renault looked at the gathering dark clouds in the sky and stretched lazily.

"Well, the operation is over. Let's withdraw."
