Secrets Behind the Door

As Sushi confessing, the main door creaked open, Sushi's heart plummeted to the pit of his stomach. They both turned and saw her parents standing there, frozen in shock, their eyes wide and mouths agape. Sushi's cheeks flushed crimson as she quickly straightened her clothes, her eyes darting around the room for an escape route that didn't exist.

Sushi's mind raced, trying to come up with a plausible explanation for the compromising position they found themselves in. But in that moment, words failed him, and she could only stand there, feeling the weight of her parents' gaze.

"S-Sorry, Mom, Dad, It's not what you think, I can explain..." Sushi stammered.

June stepped forward adjusting his throat and explained, "Aunty and Uncle, this is all my fault. I found out that you were out of town. I was scared to leave her alone so I stayed to give company. We were watching movie together but ended up sleeping. Nothing more than that happened".

With an immediate action, he grabbed his car keys and said, "I apologize for my behavior today. I'll give you a nice greeting tomorrow,' he said, hurriedly departing the house.

Their parents couldn't help but chuckle at the situation, "Well, at least we know they're getting along," her mother remarked, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

Her father nodded, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

Their laughter faded into a comfortable silence as they watched Sushi hurriedly retreat upstairs, her cheeks still flushed with embarrassment.

That evening, Sushi became puzzled; amidst the chaos that broke out in the morning, she was unable to determine whether June had absorbed her confession or not. She was pacing back and forth on her balcony, unsure of whether to give June a call and find out whether he understood.

As she reciting on what she needs to tell after calling to june, she suddenly got call from him. She was too scared to pick up the call up but eventually picked.

"Hello..!!", she said quietly.

June said in a worried tone, "What are you doing outside? Go inside; you might catch cold."

From where he is viewing, Sushi looked down around her spot, but he couldn't find June.

"Where are you?", she enquired.

"I was there a minute ago, I left a gift for you before your door," June said, laughing. I noticed you were having trouble with something; tell me, and I'll be of assistance."

"June, could we get together tomorrow before our family gathers around? She said, "I need to double check something with you."

"Ok, no problem. But for now, head to bed. We'll discuss tomorrow. "Good dreams.." June said as ending the call.

After the call ended, Sushi eagerly tore into the neatly wrapped gift. Inside, she found a beautifully crafted dress, perfect for a lunch outing with their family. The fabric was soft to the touch, and the design was elegant yet understated.

A smile spread across Sushi's face as she admired the dress. It was exactly the kind of outfit she had been hoping for, and she couldn't wait to wear it.

Day 3

Sushi and her family arrived at the guesthouse about midday. They were seated in a lovely courtyard for lunch as June's mother welcomed them. Once the introductions are over, Sushi looks around for June, but he hasn't arrived yet.

"Where is June? Aunty..", she dared and enquired about him.

"He should be in his room getting ready to greet you, Sushi" she said. "Go upstairs and you will see the room in the corner.", giving some space to be with her son.

Sushi went upstairs with

Sushi mustered up all her courage as she ascended the stairs, her heart pounding louder than the bombs. Standing before his closed bedroom door, she hesitated, his hand is about to turn the knob. But then, with a newfound determination, she took a deep breath and steeled herself.

"Don't open the door," Sushi's voice quivered slightly as she addressed the empty hallway. "If you're in front of me, I won't be able to confess myself. Just stay there and listen."

With those words hanging in the air, she knew that what she was about to say would change everything, but she couldn't hold it in any longer. Closing her eyes briefly, she gathered her thoughts before beginning to speak, pouring out her feelings with a vulnerability she had never known before.

She began, her voice trembling, "June, I'm not sure if you understood what I said yesterday or not. But I'll say it clearly this time. When my father proposed this marriage to me, I was also against it. I knew about your feelings for Chloe, and I couldn't bear the thought of causing you pain. But my sister has someone else in her life, and I didn't want her to suffer. That's why I agreed to this marriage."

Taking a deep breath, she continued, "At first, I thought I could convince you to marry me by pretending to be Chloe. But I failed. I couldn't bring myself to confess because I was too terrified of hurting you. And now... now I realize that I've fallen in love with you. I'm afraid of losing you. When I'm with you, it's like I'm not pretending anymore. It feels like I'm being myself, but I can still see your feelings and care."

Her words hung in the air, heavy with emotion, as she waited anxiously for June's response. She had bared her soul, revealing her deepest fears and desires, and now all she could do was hope that June would understand and accept her for who she truly was.

"What are you doing here, Chloe?" a voice came from behind her. Startled, she turned around to find June standing there, her expression a mixture of confusion and disbelief.

Before she could respond, the door to the room swung open. A flood of terror surged over her as she recognized her error and found herself face to face with someone startling.
