Echoes of the Past

"Daddd..!! What are you both doing here", June with soft voice.

Sushi realized that she had been pouring out her heart to June's father, not at all to June. Embarrassed, her cheeks flushed as she searched for the perfect words to describe herself. She was now dealing with the fallout from her actions, which she had never intended to happen in this manner, her breath catching in her throat as she realized what had just happened.

June's father covered up Sushi's reality by saying, "Nothing June, your mom sent Chloe to give me a tie".

"And I have a surprise for you, Chloe," he announced, turning his attention to Sushi. "You don't need to attend lunch with us today. The elders will be discussing the marriage, and I've arranged a fine restaurant experience for both of you. So, enjoy these two days before your marriage."

His gaze shifted to June as he continued, "Take her somewhere nice after lunch. You two don't need to attend downstairs."

With a reassuring pat on June's shoulder, he left the room, leaving June and Sushi to digest his words and contemplate the unexpected turn of events.

Sushi found himself plunged deeper into confusion as she tried to comprehend why her future father-in-law had chosen to cover for her lies and extend his help, leaving her lost in a world of unanswered questions.

As she mulled over these thoughts, a sudden message pinged on her phone. It was from her father-in-law.

"Don't tell him yet. I will handle things till the marriage. Leave from here for today," the message read.

Sushi read the message more than once, her eyebrows wrinkled in perplexity. What on earth might her father-in-law be up to? Sushi looked at June, a feeling of unease gnawing at him, her mind spinning with questions about what lay ahead for them.

"They want to be together, so I sent them out for privacy," June's father explained smoothly, his words carrying an air of authority that quelled any further inquiries. With a subtle nod from him, the conversation seamlessly shifted back to the topic of marriage.

June is driving somewhere in the meantime. Sushi sat silently next to him, her mind a chaotic tornado of doubts. Is it better for her to obey her father-in-law's wishes and conceal the truth from June, or is it better to take a chance on upending the fragile facade of their relationship?

She stole a glance at June thinking, how could she continue to deceive him, knowing the truth lay just beneath the surface?. The weight of her unspoken truths hanging heavy in the air between them.

As Sushi sighed to herself, breaking the silence, June interrupted her thoughts.

"Do you want to go for lunch, or is it okay if I take you somewhere I've been wanting to show you?" he asked, his voice soft yet tinged with hesitation.

Sushi blinked in surprise at his sudden question, her mind still reeling from their earlier situation. But as she met June's gaze, she found himself nodding in agreement.

"Let's go," she replied, a faint smile at the corners of his lips.

Sushi had no idea where he was taking her, after a while, they arrived at a serene countryside estate, the sprawling grounds adorned with vibrant flowers and lush greenery. Sushi's breath caught in her throat at the breathtaking beauty of the place.

"This is... incredible," she murmured, awestruck by the picturesque setting.

June smiled softly, his eyes sparkling with affection. "I thought you might like it here,"he said, taking her hand as they walked through the manicured gardens.

As they strolled hand in hand, June led Sushi to a quaint gazebo nestled amidst a grove of trees. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, and the soft rustle of leaves added to the tranquil atmosphere.

"This is where our wedding will take place," June explained, her voice filled with emotion.

Sushi's heart swelled with love and gratitude. The gazebo was adorned with delicate fairy lights and billowing drapes, casting a warm glow over the surroundings. A pathway of flower petals led to the altar, where an elegant canopy awaited them.

"It's perfect," Sushi whispered, her voice choked with emotion.

With a gentle smile, June turned to face her, his eyes shining with happiness. "It will be even more beautiful with you standing here," he said, reaching out to brush a stray lock of hair from her forehead.

Sushi felt a surge of warmth flood her chest as she gazed into June's eyes, her heart overflowing with love for him. She wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of her life with him, cherishing each and every moment they shared.

"Would you practice walking down the aisle with me?" June asked, his voice trembling.

Sushi's smile widened, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Of course," she replied, taking his hand in hers.

As they walked hand in hand along the flower-strewn pathway, Sushi felt a sense of peace settle over her. In that moment, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of June's love, she knew that their wedding would be nothing short of magical.

As Sushi and June returned home after their day together, Sushi couldn't shake the feeling of contentment that settled over her. She cherished every moment spent with June, and as he dropped her off at her doorstep, she couldn't help but feel a little bit of sadness at the thought of parting ways for the night.

"Text me when you get inside," June said softly, his gaze lingering on Sushi's face.

Sushi nodded, a soft smile playing on her lips. "I will. Goodnight, June," she replied, before disappearing into the warmth of her home.

As Sushi made her way to her own bedroom, her mind was still buzzing with the events of the day. But just as she was about to climb into bed, her phone rang, breaking the silence of the night.

It's Chloe asking about her marriage.

"It's true, Chloe," Sushi replied, her voice heavy with regret. "June and I are getting married but June doesn't know yet that its me. But before I tell you everything, can you please tell me what happened between you and June before you left?".

The silence from Chloe stretched on, making Sushi's nerves fray with every passing second. She held his breath, waiting for her to respond..
