Entangled Emotions

As June slowly woke up, he realized that someone was lying on his side of the bed. His hand had started feeling numb. When he opened his eyes, he saw that Sushi was sleeping peacefully. He couldn't move because he was afraid of waking her up.

Sushi was sleeping soundly, with one hand on her chest and the other one under June's arm. "She's sleeping with her hand under pressure again," he thought.

He just stared at her, enjoying her morning face, and slowly tried to remove a little hair that was bothering her face. Just as he did, Sushi suddenly awoke. Startled, June, overcome with embarrassment, accidentally nudged her off the bed. She teetered at the edge, almost falling.

However, June grabbed her waist and drew her in his direction right away. As she turned, Sushi discovered that she was now on top of June.

Her head was on June's chest. She could hear the pounding of his heart.

"It was beating faster and louder than I had anticipated. Why is your heart beating so fast?" she asked as she carefully raised her head and put her palm on his chest.

When June realized this, he grabbed her shoulders and attempted to remove her off him. Sushi, however, resisted his hands and remained steadfast, refusing to go down just yet.

Her two hands gripped his head as she began to kiss his forehead.

June was taken aback. He yelled, "What are you doing?"

She gave him another cheek kiss.

"Get off me," he commanded.

She gave him a kiss on the lips this time.

"Avoid touching me. Leave me alone". June forewarned, "I won't forgive you if you do it again."

Sushi replied, "I'll do it until you stop talking."

"You...." June was about to make another sound but zipped his lips shut and relaxed his hands off her shoulders.

Sushi, still atop him, began speaking without budging. "If you're trying to upset me by doing things with Nivi, stop it now. Because whatever you do with her won't bother me."

Ignoring his hopeless glare, she continued, "Secondly, I don't understand why you refuse to believe me. I have nothing to do with Huan. If I did, I could've stayed with him last night since you don't remember anything after getting drunk beyond your limits. If I were involved with him, I wouldn't be in this position with you."

June attempted to shift his gaze away, but she forcefully held his chin, tilting it straight to her so he had to pay attention to her.

"That day at your house, it was a misunderstanding. I called you to come and get me. If you had answered, all this misunderstanding would never have arisen."

He was trying to say something, "Don't blame me, you only messag—"

She didn't listen and kissed him again, "Shhhh.... I am not done yet."

June hopelessly zipped his lips again, expecting her continuation of the talk.

"Last thing, what were you dreaming about me last night that made you cry?"

June was taken aback by that question. He had dreamt about her last night. To escape from the situation, he carefully pushed her off to the other side of the bed this time.

"Your talk is done." He got up from the bed and trying to put on his shoes. As he was about to rise, Sushi came forward and hugged him from behind.

June was surprised by her warm embrace. "Can't you stop hating me? Can you accept me?" Her eyes reddened, tears streaming down her face. She started crying, "I'm sorry I lied to you that I don't like you."

June could feel her tears wetting his back, and his shirt became damp. No matter how much he tried to hate her, he couldn't bear to see her cry.

Slowly, he turned to her and hugged her, patting her head as she continued to cry and cry.

"Can you do one thing then if you want me to believe you?" he said.

Sushi quickly moved away from him, wiping her tears. She held his hands. "Tell me. I will do whatever you ask for."

June replied, looking into her eyes, "End your relationship with Huan. I don't care what he means to you or how you feel about him. Just don't talk to him."

Sushi fell silent without answering, just gazing into his eyes.

"You just said you can do whatever I ask for."

"Yes, I did, but June, Huan is like a family member to me. He is a brother to me. I just can't cut ties with my family right now for no reason."

"Don't talk as if he is your biological brother," June said.

"Maybe not, but you have no idea how much he took care of me since I was a kid. He was there in my hardest times. Now I can't just abandon him just because I've grown up.", she replied hoping he will understand.

Hearing that, June let go of her hands and got up from the bed. He approached the room door, but it wouldn't open. It seemed to be locked from the outside. He quickly sighed, realizing it must be Nivi who locked the door.

They were both locked up in the room and just outside, Huan was trying to free them from his trapped situation. He tried all possible ways to unlock the door, banging against it with his body, but the sound didn't seem to carry outside.

Meanwhile, June was searching for his mobile, but it seemed to be missing. He moved around the room to look for it. "What's wrong?" Sushi asked, noticing his lack of response.

He remained unresponsive. Sushi got up from the bed and attempted to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. She realized they were locked inside.

"But who locked the door?" She wondered to herself but felt a sense of happiness inside that she was trapped with June.

The hesitant June looked at Sushi and asked, "Do you have a mobile with you? Let me use it for a minute. I need to call Nivi."

Sushi moved to the bedside to open her handbag. She knew that it had enough charging for a single call, but she intentionally clicked the power button off. "It seems there is no charge, it got switched off."

"Then charge it," he demanded.

"How can I have a charger now?" Sushi claimed.

"Are you not carrying a charger?" he looked straight into her eyes with a frustrated expression.

"How come you are so careless? Why can't you be more careful in the future? What if you end up in a situation where I wouldn't be with you?" he said in frustration.

"It's not like I know what's going to happen," Sushi slowly tried to calm him down.

He couldn't make any comments after hearing it. Helplessly, he tried to bang on the door.

"Moreover, you told me that you will be with me all the time," Sushi mentioned.

"What?" he couldn't understand what she was implying.

"You told me that you will take me wherever I want to go," she said, jingling her face while sitting on the bed.

He came in front of her, "But you left with Huan. How can I keep you company?" he said.

"You first left, leaving me home alone. You broke it first, not me," she silently closed her eyes while lying on the bed.

"Y...Y..You..." June was taken aback by her talking back at his words.

There was no sound from Sushi as if she was trying to get some sleep.

After a while, when Sushi fell asleep, June covered her with a blanket, and sat beside her, thinking about what to do.
