Chapter 2

After a few minutes of silence we left the 'shed.' We walked to the gate and it was obviously locked, so I climbed up the fence and jumped over. I landed on my feet and got up patting off the dust off my clothes and saw Sebastian smiling in front of me.

We started walking and I questioned him about the contract. "So, what exactly is the contract?" I started off.

He kept walking and without looking at me, said, "It's called the Faustian Contract." I nodded and looked down.

"So what's the contract about?" I asked. "Tell me everything about it." I added at the end.

"You summoned me and signed the contract. The mark on your neck represents it. I'll complete all your wishes and commands, but when the contract is over... you'll reward me with your soul." I nodded and thought about the last part.

"So there's no turning back is there?" I quietly asked myself. "Indeed, young master." The tall man next to me said.

I kept walking and finally said, "How can I hide this mark?" He looked at the back of his left hand and said, "You could wear a scarf. Fall is around the corner, so that makes things easier." He stated with a smile.

"How old are you?" I asked, looking up at him. He smiles again and says, "I've lived for over 600 years." I gasp in shock and look him straight in the eyes for conformation.

"So I believe that I'm not the first one you've served." I say, looking back down. "Indeed, young master."

"Just call me, Y/n." I informed and he said, "Understood." I stopped and looked up at him when a question popped up in my head.

"What is it? " He asked, stopping, himself. "What are the conditions of this contract?"

"Number 1," He started, "never lie to the contractor. Number 2, obey the contractor's commands without question. Only applies if the contractor says, 'I command you.'." I nod and he says, "And finally, number 3. Protect the contractor without betrayal until his revenge comes to fruition." I nod again and start walking.

He followed my pace and said, "The more visible the seal is, the stronger the bond will be. You cannot escape from me. I can find you anywhere and at any time." The last part shocked me and I asked, "Will you know what I'm doing?" He shook his head.

"Is it possible for you to die?" I asked. He looked quite surprised to my question and said, "We value our master's lives above our own." Was all he said. "Why do you ask?" He questioned.

I ignored his question and asked another question, "What if the contractor ends their own life before the demon gets the chance to devour their soul?" He looked surprised at the question and said, "You aren't planning to do anything, are you Y/n?" I shook my head and said, "Not much in particular. Just curious."

"So what are your abilities?" I asked.

"Well there are, quite a few." He said with a chuckle, "Well, first off, I can manipulate someone's body. Enhanced endurance, I can keep going and be as if nothing happened even if I was severely injured. But there is a weapon against demons used by Grim Reapers called, Death Scythe. Those could weaken or even kill us." He stopped.

"So you can be killed." I mumbled to myself. "Indeed." He said, before continuing, "Enhanced senses, strength and speed. It exactly what it sounds like." I nodded and he continued.

"Fire control, immortality, levitation, manipulation, mind manipulation, and manifestation. Soul sensing and straining, it's what it sounds like. And finally, transformation. I can go from being a demon to human at any time." He finished off. I nodded rubbing my chin.

"Do you give out a demonic, spirit or aura? If you know what I mean. My parents are religious and I don't know what to do." I said, trying to think of ways to get him in. We were only a few blocks away from my house.

"I believe I don't. I think it'll all depend on my actions." I nod as I finally come up with an idea. "Can you act like a butler?" I ask. He nods and says, "I indeed can."

I let out a relieved sigh and say, "I'm sure my parents will be happy to have a butler. I'll ask them if you can be my personal butler. Will you be okay with that? I'll try to make sure you don't do a lot." He nodded an bowed down saying, "It's a pleasure to serve you."

I lead my way to our house and I stood in front of our gate, walking over to the sensor to let it scan my face. The device beeped and I opened the gates. I walked in and Sebastian followed behind.

We walked down the stone road and arrived at the big building. "This is my home..." I said in a not so cheerful voice.

"Well this is a very luxurious place I must say." I nodded before knocking on the door and and being greeted by the maidens. "Welcome back, young master." The maidens greeted simultaneously in a monotone voice. I walked in and so did Sebastian.

"Mother?" I called out. My mother came out of the kitchen and almost dropped the bowl she was holding. I could see her face pale up and I quickly introduced Sebastian to her, "Mother, please don't worry. This is Sebastian Michaelis. Sebastian, this is my mother."

My mother let out a nervous chuckle and said, "I-It's nice to meet you sir. What brings you here?"

"It's a pleasure to meet you ma'am. I've come here to serve your daughter as her personal butler. I promise, she's in good hands." He said with his usual bow. My mother looked surprised and satisfied at the same time.

"Oh dear. It's a pleasure to meet you them. Let the maids show you around." My mother said before calling out for the maids to go and show him around.

The same 2 maids showed up and gestured Sebastian to follow them. He did and I was left there with my mother. "Dear, where did you find such a charming man? He indeed has great manners, I should say." I nodded before walking up to her and taking the bowl out of her hands, "Where's father?" I asked.

We walked over to the kitchen and she said, "He's with his friends in town. They'll all be joining for dinner." I nod as I start mixing the substances in the bowl until it turned into dough.

"So do you mind if Sebastian becomes my personal butler? He could help me with my school work and he is a great believer." Her eyes widened and she said, "Indeed, he is, perfect. My." I nodded, content by her response and said, "So what are we making?" She looked at the recipe book on the table and pointed at a picture.

I followed her finger and saw a Challah. I nodded and placed the bowl into the table and went ahead and turned on the oven.

"Do you know where the sesame seeds are dear?" My mother asked. I shook my head and walked over to the spice cabinets to get some but there were none.

"I think we ran out." I informed. My mother let out a sad sigh and said, "Could you go get a maid and tell her to get some from the grocery store?" My mother asked.

"I could go myself if you don't mind. I think I lack vitamin D." I said. She thought for a while and said, "If you insist. Just don't go alone. Take Sebastian with you." I nodded and headed to my mother's room to get some money.

Then I walked back out and called out for Sebastian, "Sebastian! Do you mind going to the grocery store with me?!" He walked down the stairs in a few second with the maids following behind him. "Indeed." He said with a bow.

I nodded before heading out of the door as Sebastian followed behind. We walked down the same stone path and headed to the gates. We arrived and I opened up the big doors and we headed out.

"Your house is very religious. How come you aren't like them?" I heard Sebastian ask. I shrugged and said, "I don't know. Maybe I'm adopted." I earned a small chuckle from my sarcasm and he said, "How do you deal with it?" I shrugged again and bluntly stated, "As long as I act accordingly and show how 'righteous' I am, then I get what I want." He just nodded in return.

"The store over there is the one we're heading to." I said.
