Chapter 83: A World Full of Demons

The days that followed were a strange mix of tranquility and turmoil. Jon found himself in a peculiar state of calm after finishing Men in Black universe, a stark contrast to the chaos that had previously after finishing Harry Potter universe when he had to deal gangsters and witches. His nights, however, were plagued by nightmares, reminding him of the black shadow figure.

However, despite the nightmares, Jon's days were filled with a sense of normalcy he hadn't experienced in a long time. He had returned to the main world, a place that felt like home.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks into a month. The rhythm of Jon's life had changed, but the undercurrent of anticipation never left him. He knew that his next spacetime travel was imminent. The thrill of the unknown, the allure of a new world, and the promise of new adventures kept him on his toes.

One night, as Jon was engrossed in deciphering a particularly complex passage in the Darkhold, a familiar sound echoed in his mind.

[Ding! The spacetime travel gate is ready. Do you want to open it? Yes/No.]

The mechanical voice was devoid of emotion, but it sent a wave of excitement coursing through Jon.

Without a moment's hesitation, Jon responded, his voice filled with determination,

"Yes!"

[Ding! The door has been opened, countdown starts, three, two, one,] the voice continued, its monotone rhythm adding to the suspense.

Jon's heart pounded in his chest as he waited for the countdown to reach zero. The anticipation was almost unbearable, but he knew that this was just the beginning of another thrilling journey.

[Zero!]

The voice finally announced, and an ethereal door materialized in Jon's mind. It was a door unlike any other, a gateway to a different world, a different time. It was a door that promised adventure, danger, and the thrill of the unknown.

As the door slowly opened, Jon's consciousness was enveloped in a blinding white light. As the light grew brighter, Jon felt a sense of exhilaration. He was ready to face whatever lay beyond the door, ready to embark on a new adventure, ready to face a world full of demons.

Jon's eyes fluttered open, adjusting to the new surroundings. He found himself standing on a dirt road, sparsely populated and lined with low, traditional Japanese houses. The people passing by were dressed in kimonos, their faces etched with the simplicity and hardship of a commoner's life. The signs on the road were written in Japanese, a language Jon was familiar with.

"Well, judging by the architecture and attire," Jon mused, stroking his chin thoughtfully, "I'm definitely in a Japanese cinematic universe. Now, if only it's a world I'm familiar with, that would be a bonus."

Summoning the system's panel in his mind, Jon scanned the information displayed:

[Spacetime travel has been completed, current universe: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba]

[Travel period: 40 days]

[Main mission has started: Judgment of the Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji, get 3000 penalty points for completing the mission (current progress is 0/1)]

[Side mission has been started: Punish the Twelve Demon Moons, get 600 penalty points for each lower moon destroyed, and 1200 penalty points for each upper moon destroyed. (The current progress is 0/12)]

[Side mission has been started: Kill at least ten ordinary demons. After completing the task, you will get 800 penalty points. For each additional ordinary demon you kill, you will get an additional 50 penalty points (the current progress is 0/10)]

[Side mission has been started: Find the Swordsmith Village, and acquire the Nichirin Sword of Enichi Tsukikuni. After completing the mission, you will get 600 penalty points]

[Legendary mission: Judge a thousand sinful souls in all the worlds (current progress is 62 /1000)]

[You have acquired Japanese language.]

Jon's eyes widened in surprise and excitement. "It's the Demon Slayer universe!" he exclaimed, a grin spreading across his face. This was a world he knew well, a world filled with demons and sinners.

He knew that it was Taisho era, a period in Japan's history marked by rapid industrialization and westernization, yet still deeply rooted in tradition and folklore. A time when the sun's descent marked the rise of demons, creatures of the night that feasted on human flesh. But where there were demons, there were also Demon Slayers, warriors who dedicated their lives to protecting humanity from these monstrous beings.

Jon surveyed his surroundings once more. He found himself in a small town, a place that lacked the hustle and bustle of the big cities he was accustomed to. The town was peaceful and quiet, its tranquility only enhanced by the fresh, earthy air that filled his lungs. It was a place that exuded a sense of calm and serenity, a stark contrast to the world of demons he was about to delve into.

But amidst the tranquility, Jon detected a faint, yet distinct, fragrance. It was a scent that was both alluring and repulsive, a scent that signified the presence of sin. It was a scent that was pure and unadulterated, a scent that was a delicacy for the Spirit of Vengeance within him.

In his past adventures, Jon had encountered such pure evil only twice - in Voldemort and Boris the Animal. Their souls were devoid of any redeeming qualities, their evilness pure and unadulterated. And now, he had stumbled upon this scent once again.

The Ghost Rider within him was ravenous, having been starved of sinful souls for a month. Whether it was to satiate his hunger or to progress in his mission, Jon knew he had to find the source of this scent.

As he pondered over his next move, a man staggered past him. His face was bruised, his eyes dull, and his demeanor haggard. The townsfolk whispered among themselves, their voices filled with pity and sorrow.

"Look, it's Kazumi!"

"He looks so pitiful, so worn out!"

"His fiancé, Satoko, was kidnapped while she was with him!"

"He's been like this all day. It's heartbreaking!"

Jon's enhanced senses, a result of his analyzing of the Darkhold, allowed him to pick up on their hushed conversations. He pieced together the information, realizing that a girl had been disappearing every night, and the town was haunted by fear.

He was certain now. There was a demon in this town, a demon that feasted on girls. The sinful aura he had detected was most likely emanating from this demon.

"Mr. Kazumi!" Jon called out, turning towards the man. Kazumi turned around, his face devoid of any emotion.

"I need to ask you something. Do you have a moment?" Jon asked, getting straight to the point.

"Can you show me where she disappeared?"

Kazumi, the man burdened with guilt and despair, led Jon to a narrow alley. His face was etched with worry, his eyes reflecting a deep-seated fear. "You won't believe me," he began, his voice barely above a whisper.

"No, I believe you," Jon interrupted, his senses picking up on the intensifying scent of sin. A smirk played on his lips as he added, "The sweet smell of sin is stronger here."

Kazumi looked at him, confusion written all over his face. "What did you say?"

"It's nothing, don't mind," Jon dismissed, his mind already working on the task at hand.

Kazumi didn't press further, his concern for his wife overpowering his curiosity. "Can you really help me rescue Satoko?" he asked, his voice filled with hope and desperation.

"As a reward for helping me find that guy, I'll do my best to help you rescue her," Jon replied nonchalantly. He quickly added, "But don't get your hopes up. The chances of survival in such situations are usually slim."

Jon knew all too well the fate of those captured by demons. They were usually devoured on the spot, their flesh serving as a feast for the demons. However, he also knew that some demons had peculiar rituals they performed before their feast. And if his guess was correct, the demon they were dealing with was one such creature - the Swamp Demon, the first demon Tanjiro defeated when he officially became a member of the Demon Slayer Corps.

The Swamp Demon had a penchant for capturing women and collecting their jewelry. This gave Jon hope that Satoko might still be alive, that the demon might be keeping her for a ritual.

"Please, help her," Kazumi pleaded, gratitude evident in his voice.

Jon pulled out the Elder Wand, waving it gently in the air. "Peccatum Filum!" he commanded. A faint trace of blood mist appeared in the air, forming a long strip that led to a distant place.

The Sin String spell, much like the Sin Mark Spell, was a magic Jon had created using his knowledge. It revealed the scent of sin that he could smell, allowing him to track the source. It was similar to the witcher's senses in the "Witcher" series, enabling him to follow the scent and find the target.

With the path laid out before him, Jon was ready to embark on his mission, ready to face the Demon.
