Chapter 10: Damaged Wall

We quickly escalated to the basement and locked ourselves up. For a second, I had everything in slow motion. I saw Leo pushing the shelf to block the exit, and Suzie getting ready for a fight. Cas took out a gun and prepared to shoot. I closed my eyes for a second and recognized something. I had this feeling of known energy, the same one I felt in the forest.

"Those beasts...they are here," I whispered, I wasn't sure if I said that to myself or others. I quickly grabbed my phone to call Jason and already dialled his number, but then Leo grabbed my phone and turned it off.

"That's not a good idea to call the police right now, please hide in the dresser."

"Leo! I can't leave you guys!" I said while panicking. I tried not to scream, but then somebody was trying to breaks in. Three. Two. One. BAM.

The door was wide open, and the shelf was moved out of the way.

"Long time, no see Leo." Some man in the black leather jacket said, with three other beasts by his side.

"Augh!" Leo quickly took out his sword and began a fight with him. He let the beasts go, and one of them was coming towards my side. I immediately jumped to the side and felt my heartbeat speed up even more.

"Sarah, hide!" Suzie screamed while fighting off the neatest with Cas. I met with the monster's eyes. I closed my eyes and tried to find the same energy I had back in the forest that helped me to survive. Warm, a little bit warmer. The beast was already running towards me, and that was when I opened my eyes. The creature flew away a couple of meters and hit the wall. I felt the electricity running through my body, and I was ready to strike bolts of lightning into anyone. Because of this, Suzie and Cas lost their concentration. They were staring at me like I was the monster. That was when I lost my conciseness. Or so I thought.

*Leo's perspective*

The battle was getting harder and harder. That's not how I planned to spend this night. All of a sudden, I saw Sarah, with white eyes throwing that monster into the wall. I came to realize she wasn't a human. So, who is she? She then proceeded to destroy other beasts with just one hand way, and puff, they were gone. She looked mad and scared.

"Pretty interesting," Said the monogoly creature. He looked at me and smiled like a snake. Then, he pressed something on his jacket and teleported somewhere. But Sarah was still in the kill mode.

"Omg Leo, what do we do?" Suzie ran to me and held my arm. I carefully moved to Sarah.

"Sarah, that's okay." She was confused, almost crying like she was in pain. " We're not going to hurt you. I'm not going to hurt you." I touched her cheek, and that was when her white eyes disappeared, and she became normal again. She fell right into my arms and lost her conciseness.

"Leo, that means...her mom and.." Cas tried to say something, but then I continued.

"No, no, she's not like that, I can feel it." I stroke her hair, trying to wake her up gently, but she probably used too much energy to destroy our enemies.

"We have to report this accident to the headmaster, and report Sarah too," Suzie said almost through her teeth.

"Hold up, Suzie, we can't just..." Cas tried to stop Suzie, but she went upstairs. "Come on, Suzie! She just saved our lives! She's on the good side!" Then Cas followed Suzie to calm her down.

I saw something buzzing on the floor. That was Sarah's phone.

"Oh shit." I saw ten missed calls from Jason and the text messages. "I have to wake Sarah up." I picked her up and went upstairs to put her on the couch.

"Tight her up," Suzie pointed at Sarah's body. Her voice was shaking in fear. "Last time I met this kind of beasts I lost my parents, I won't let that happen again!"

"Okay, okay, but you have to let her talk, before reporting her okay?" I said while looking at Suzie. "I know you can feel that too, she's not a bad person."

"Oh, come! She's not one of us! She was hanging out with Jason if you forgot!" Suzie said a bit louder.

"She doesn't have their energy." I continued. I looked at Sarah again and tried to read her memories.

"What do you see?" Cas asked me. I saw how she accidentally killed that monster in the forest, her distant relationship with her mom, and her first memory. I expected to see an infant or something like that. Instead, I saw her laying in the hospital. Like she told us, she wasn't lying.

"She wasn't lying. She lost her memory. And in the forest, her emotions took over her, and that's how she discovered her powers. She doesn't know how to control them." I said as a conclusion.

"We need to help her. She saved us just a few minutes ago." Cas said while pointing downstairs. "And Suzie, she saved you too. You can't judge and suspect every single breed because of what happened in the past."

"You don't dare to talk about that! You have no idea what I went through!" Sarah came up super close to Cas and was ready to fight him. Then she stepped back. "Whatever, I'm with you guys. Don't let me regret this decision in the future.

*From Sarah's perspective."

Pain. Screams. Each part of my body felt that. The invisible wall was breaking, but the process is painful. I slowly opened my eyes to Suzie, arguing with other guys. What have I done this time? I tried to wake up completely. Then I noticed that my hands were tight up to the battery. I began moving my hands back and forth, which got their attention.

"Thank god you alright" Leo quickly began to check my head for any injuries. "How do you feel?"

"Why am I tight up?" I asked him madly. Don't they trust me? What's going on. Everything was still foggy.

"We don't have many reasons to trust you anymore after the show you've done in the basement," Suzie spoke up.

"Don't speak for everyone," Cas continued. "And we talked about that already, everything she said was true."

"I don't remember...let me go!" I begin swimming my hands back and forth. "Leo, let me go!" I looked at him straight in the eyes.

"Not just yet, you need to come down!" he kneeled right beside and tried to calm me down. "That's for your safety. We want to help you."

"I trusted you...all of you!" Is this betrayal? Or my powers scared them? But why didn't I tight them up as soon as I found out about their angelic inheritance? Leo tried to comfort me with Cas, but I shaked it off.

"Don't hate us for doing this. We believe you. We know you're not dangerous. You have to learn how to control your powers because, in the end, you might injure yourself." Leo said, and then l quietly went to the kitchen with others to discuss what to do next, so I decided to use that chance to escape. I pulled my arms even harder, and thanks to my powers, I was able to break it. I saw my phone on the table, quickly took it and ran. I didn't know where to go, so I headed home right away. I think my mother will be happy about me not staying for a sleepover with my friends, or so I thought.

I quietly entered the house and saw something that I shouldn't have—ten to twenty people seating in our hall, and with my mom. I could feel some were angel blooded, and some were the opposite, now I was able to tell that energy apart. My breath got shorter. I was having a panic attack because all of this is too much for me. I didn't close the door, but carefully tried to spy on them a little.

"The gates will be open soon. We have to act now," said one of the demons while spinning some weird old coin in his hands.

"Don't worry, my friend. I have the key to get to that pure shitted kingdom." My mom said while drinking something from her glass. That's not my mom. No way.

"Did you tell her yet?" One of the angels that were sitting by my mom asked her.

"She doesn't need to know." She took another sip from the glass. "Let everyone think she's human since her energy can't be identified."

She knows. She's one of them. But what gate is she talking about? The same one Jason warned me about? I can't stay here anymore. This place is not safe. It's either I have to pretend as nothing happened and stay here or find someplace more reliable.
