Chapter 83:- Tables Turned

"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain." Harvey Dent- Dark Knight Trilogy

With each having their targets set, and cornered the hunt began

All of a sudden there was complete silence in the mansion, and the next seconds light started flickering as well.

Miyuki, caught off guard by the sudden silence, turned to find Kaito looming over her. Panic flooded her eyes as his hand brushed against her neck, a cold iron shutting down the rising tide of her power. Time seemed to stretch, each tick of the clock echoing her helplessness

However between Kaito and Miyuki, Kaito was the first to strike, he immobilized the her, the most dangerous person in the group Miyuki, Miyuki who saw Kaito in front of her, couldn't react in time, as before she could activate her quirk, Kaito immobilized her, rendering her useless, like a stone statue

The air crackled with a potent mix of champagne hangovers and impending violence. Kaito, like a predator savoring the final moments before the pounce, had scanned the room. His gaze found Hana, nestled amidst the remnants of the party, her empathetic heart oblivious to the storm brewing around her. A silent signal. Kenji, a coiled spring of kinetic energy in his fist, waited for Kaito to give his signal, his signal being the immobilised Miyuki, taking the signal Kenji launched himself forward.

Kenji's Seismic Fist smashed into Hana's chest, a thunderclap muffled by the opulent surroundings. The impact reverberated, sending tremors through the floorboards and a gasp escaping Hana's lips. Before she could even process the pain, Kenji was upon her, pinning her arms with steely efficiency. Hana's quirk, her weapon, lay dormant, overwhelmed by the raw shock of the attack unable to process anything.

Across the room, Takeshi and Aiko were locked in a deadly ballet of lead and illusion. Bullets, once destined for Takeshi, curved in mid-air, ricocheting harmlessly off the walls. Aiko, anticipating the deflection, danced behind a shimmering mirage of herself, her mocking laughter echoing in the stunned silence.

Takeshi, face etched with focus, unleashed a final volley, each bullet bending around Aiko's illusory self, until one clipped the edge of her hologram, revealing her startled eyes for a fleeting moment. That was all Takeshi needed. With a swift kick, he disarmed her, the clatter of the fallen metal a punctuation mark in the chaos.

Hiro, the tech manipulator, stood amidst a battlefield of sparking wires and shorted circuits. His initial attempt to jam the signals had been foiled by his own limitations. Akari's jammer, a gift from the shadows, hummed into life, silencing the outside world and amplifying the symphony of fear and defiance within the mansion.

Reina, her nails glinting like obsidian daggers, lunged at Hiro, her fury ignited by the chaos and Hiro's perceived betrayal. Hiro, nimble and resourceful, sidestepped her lunge, using his knowledge of the security system to activate a sprinkler head above her. Water cascaded down, drenching Reina and dulling the heat in her eyes. In that moment of surprise, Hiro slipped behind her, delivering a sharp blow to her head with the back of his pistol. Reina crumpled to the floor, unconscious.

With each takedown, the symphony of chaos reverberated. Screams of surprise morphed into whimpers of fear, punctuated by the occasional guttural roar of resistance.

The room fell silent, the air thick with the aftermath of the storm. Kaito stood amongst his subdued adversaries, a hunter surveying his fallen prey and seeing if there was anyone left.

The mission was a success, the victory brutal and efficient. In the echo of screams and the glint of his own blade, once they were done, all of them brought their fallen targets in a single place, leaving Miyuki aside, all the others, who were either unconscious or unable to move were tied to the chairs or something, and once tied, all of them were tied quirk suppressing handcuffs, rendering their quirks useless so that they don't use their quirks to try to escape from the confines.

And lastly, Miyuki who was immobilised was now brought in front of them, her hands up in the air, tied quirk suppressing cuffs, and even her legs and neck were tied with quirk suppressing cuffs while her mouth was duct taped.

Once their mission was complete, lights were back again, and all of them could clearly see the attackers, all the cops who were victims of Miyuki and her group's treachery.

The silence stretched, taut as a bowstring. Kaito surveyed the room, his gaze lingering on Miyuki. Her defiant eyes blazed through the duck tape, an inferno refusing to be extinguished. The rest of her colleagues lay subdued, a tangle of unconscious limbs and defeated scowls. A bitter tang of victory clung to the air, metallic and hollow.

"It's over, Miyuki," Kaito finally spoke, his voice a rough rasp against the stillness. "The game is up." Said Kaito as he removed the duct tape once satisfied that the quirk-suppressing cuffs were active.

Miyuki, the prideful bitch stripped of her armor, spat at his feet. "Cowards," she hissed, voice choked but spirit unbroken. "You strike in the dark, like rats, while I face the world with open eyes."

Kaito, snorted in anger saying, "Look who's talking, aren't you one hypocritic bitch," Kaito's breath hitched, eyes burning with a mix of fury and disbelief. "You took everything," he rasped, his voice thick. "Our careers, our friends, our families. All thrown away for a promotion? Over a fucking promotion, you ruined our life, just because you wanted to have the promotion, something that I rightfully deserved, and had worked really really hard to get, gave my all, only to serve the people of this country, and you, you made me villain the eyes of the very people whom I gave my everything to serve" said Kaito gnashing his teeth in anger

A wise man once said, "Either You Die A Hero Or You Live Long Enough To See Yourself Turn Into A Villain" said Kaito in anger as he closed his distance on Miyuki, and he whispered, "Congratulations, for you have turned this Hero into a villain,"

Miyuki flinched, her facade cracking for the first time. The room, heavy with the weight of Kaito's accusation, seemed to shrink around them. Was there an answer, a justification for the wreckage left behind? Or were they both now lost in the ruins of their ambition and betrayal?

Miyuki realized that this was the result of her actions, the repercussions of her deeds, an after-effect, something she could not run from, she regretted her decision of not thinking everything through, which has landed her in this situation now.

Miyuki's gaze darted across the room, each tied figure a mirror reflecting her shattered ambition. The silence pressed down like a physical weight, punctuated only by the rasp of her own panicked breaths. This was her nightmare, her meticulously crafted house of cards collapsing around her ears.

Suddenly, Miyuki's face contorted in pain. A strangled gasp escaped her lips as the quirk-suppressing cuffs on her neck pulsed with blue light, applying pressure on her windpipe. It was Akari's doing, a cold calculation cutting through the growing empathy.

Kaito stepped forward, his hand hovering over the switch that controlled the restraints. A choice – silence Miyuki and maintain order, or loosen the cuffs and invite chaos. At that moment, Kaito just pressed the button on the switch which tightened the cuff's grip on Miyuki's neck and her limbs, her face started turning blue, followed by a shade of pale, as she struggled for air, trying to free herself from the constraints only to be met with a failed attempt and loss of even more breaths that she was already running out of.
