Chapter 34:- Was It Worth It?

"Was It really worth it?"

He remembers standing in the shadow of All Might, the number one hero. He had been chasing the top spot for as long as he could remember, but it seemed like no matter how hard he tried, he could never quite catch up.

He looked at All Might, with his bright smile and unwavering optimism. All Might was everything that Endeavor wasn't. He was kind, compassionate, and selfless. He was a true hero, and it seemed that the gap between them was just increasing every day, and it made him a bit jealous, and somewhere along the lines he developed the desire to surpass All Might and become the No.1 hero

Now recollecting Endeavor wondered if it was even worth it to be number one. He had sacrificed so much in pursuit of power. He had neglected his family and his own health. He had even driven his son to do training in secrecy, which caused him to have an accident and die

"Was it all worth it? what did it cost me?" asked Endeavour to himself. He didn't know, or the answer was in front of him and he knew it, it wasn't worth it, as what would be the cost of becoming the No.1 hero when he won't have anyone to celebrate it, he would be all alone driving away the only people he cares about.

He thought about his own life and all the mistakes he had made. He regretted so much.

He regretted not being there for his family. He regretted putting his career ahead of their happiness. He regretted being so hard on his children.

But most of all, he regretted not being a better husband to his wife.

He had always wanted to be like All Might, but he had failed. He had become the very thing he had always despised: a selfish and power-hungry hero.

He knew that he couldn't change the past, but he could change the future. He could still be a good hero, a good husband to his wife, a good father to his children, and a better person, even if he wasn't number one.

He could still make a difference in the world, even if he wasn't the best, infact, he didn't need to be the best.

Endeavor decided as he said, "I still have time, I don't need to chase the top spot any longer. I will focus on being a better hero and a better man.

I'll start by apologizing to my family. I would tell them how much I loved them and how sorry I am for neglecting them, no I'll show them, I'll prove it with my actions how sorry I am for neglecting them and how much I care for them.

I would also try to be a better mentor to my sons. I would teach them everything I knew about being a hero but also make sure they pursue whatever they want to in life.

I know that it will take time to earn back their trust, and I will be met with a lot of resistance, but I am determined to do it. I want to be the father and mentor that they deserve, not some single minded being who just cares about his goals.

I also need to start speaking out against the hero system and its flaws. I will use my platform to advocate for change. I want to create a world where heroes are more than just symbols of power and prestige. I want to create a world where heroes are true helpers of the people.

I know that I can't change the system overnight, but I will try my best as I am determined to make a difference. I want to leave the world a better place than I found it.

Although I may not become number one, but I am still a hero. I am a hero who is willing to fight for what is right, even if it means sacrificing my own pride.

I am Endeavor, no I am Enji Todoroki, and I am determined to be a better hero, a better father to my children, and a better husband to my wife, and a better person altogether.

All might lost everything, he lost his family, he lost his reputation, he lost his respect, he lost the trust of people around him, and he has hit rock bottom, although the public might not know about anything, but still those who know, know that he has lost everything.

Although my situation isn't much different than his, I still have a chance, I know I can't change the past, and I can't change how my kids see me, but I can still change things from now on, and I wish to do so even if I have to suffer lots of hardships which I rightfully deserve, as I need to take responsibilities for my actions." said Endeavour as he clenched his fists in determination as he said, "Tomorrow I'll meet Rei, and apologize to her and try to mend our relationship, then I'll spend the rest of my day finding Izuku so that Fuyumi doesn't have to be sad because of it." said Endeavour as he stood up and went to his room, to rest.

However, what he didn't know was that Shoto and Natsuo had been in the corridor ever since Fuyumi started lashing out.

Although they might have teased Fuyumi before regarding Izuku being her boyfriend, they still felt concerned for her as seeing their elder sister who is always smiling and laughing and trying her best to fix things between her family acting like glue which kept their family together, being so worried and crying for Izuku to the point she hadn't eaten anything since Izuku went missing, they knew the matter was serious and wanted to do anything they could for her, afterall after her mother was hospitalized, Fuyumi was the one who acted as their mother, a mother figure for them.

And they had listened to everything Fuyumi talked about to his father or rather lashed out, they understood how grave the situation was, and also understood why their sister was worried about Izuku.

Listening to all this they felt immense anger towards both All Might and their father, and they were going to give him a piece of their minds as well, but when they heard what Endeavour said, they felt weird and a question popped in their head, 'Is this real father or some alien has taken his place, or has he been hit in his head or something,' they couldn't say for sure what the reason was but they felt weird as if they are seeing someone else in their father's skin.

Cause they had never thought in their lives that they would hear such words from their father.

But it wasn't like they were going to let things be as they said, "We'll keep an eye out on him to make sure he's dad and not some imposter" said both at the same time coming to a conclusion as they nodded in understanding.

Although they both had their personal thoughts as well, as Natsuo's thoughts were, 'trying to be a better father and husband huh, let's see if you are serious or it's just some talk of a senile old man.'

While Shoto thought, 'So now he won't force me to train my quirk and let me have a childhood like normal people, this doesn't sound bad'

"We'll keep an eye out on him," said Shoto as Natsuo nodded and they both went to their rooms back to sleep, waiting for what tomorrow's day was going to be like.
