A D R I A N A

•••••

My beta laughed loudly through the phone call and I chuckled in response. Honestly, the talks with Justin were the best. He always gave the best tea.

"He went straight into the tires at the side of the room. I was holding myself from laughing but I couldn't take- take- take- oh moon goddess, I-" He howled in laughter and I held my stomach on the bed. I had not even finished packing and it was already late. "Training was so funny today. I'm dying."

The laughter that bubbled up in my throat had me wheezing. No sounds came out but I was laughing. "Why do I always miss the good days?" I asked cleaning the tear that escaped from my eyes.

"I don't know! What were you doing?" He coughed out making me laugh again.

"Packing," I answered and the laughter died down from his side.

Oop-

"Packing to where?" His voice was void of laughter. "And you didn't tell me?"

"I'm going to see a friend for a few days." I dragged out getting ready for the scold.

"Wow. What an amazing best friend." He drawled out sarcastically.

"I know right?"

"Fuck you."

"Love you too honey." I ended and the line went dead suddenly. "He fucking hung up on me!"

I dropped the phone on the bed in a huff and frowned. Throughout Justin and I's talk, there was nothing about Chris being there. That made me worried. He wasn't even home yet.

I suddenly imagined a warrior with his head in a tire and I fell again.

The water fell on my skin calming down my nerves and getting my mind ready for the day. I had a dreamless sleep and I wasn't happy about it. He didn't show in it and I had planned to question him.

Sighing, I got out of the shower and dressed up quickly. My things were already packed and ready for my stay at Avery's.

I walked to the mirror and groaned at my reflection. I looked so ugly. My eyes shifted to the pendant on my neck and I smiled.

That pendant was my life, the only thing left behind by my mother who died at childbirth. Its sparkly nature got me smiling again and I held it in my hands feeling my mother's love and protection from it.

I never got to see her but I had pictures and believe me when I say that we looked badly. I sighed and carried my packed bags out of the room.

Walking downstairs, the guard told me the car was ready. I nodded at him and walked to the kitchen to make a toast but was surprised when I saw my best friend chewing on the last one.

"Good morning food stealer." I greeted and he gave me the most wicked eyes ever. "Oh no, are those eyes for me?"

"What do you think?" He asked as he crunched loudly on my toast. "You're leaving me here."

I jacked the remaining toast from his hands and shoved it in my mouth. "Are you kidding? Chris is here." I spoke with my mouth full and he gave me another deadly look.

"He is on his period." He complained and I laughed at his comment and shook my head. "We are over."

"Right, we will have another wedding when I'm back," I said, laughing, and kissed him on his cheek.

He nodded at me with a frown still staring at his phone. I ruffled his hair a little and looked at him unsure but he was already typing away.

I sighed and ran out of the house to the car already missing my teddy bear that was just eating my food seconds ago. The sun shone brightly on the Mercedes and I stepped into the car and sat down comfortably, shutting the door.

Turning back to the door of the house, I saw my best friend giving me a fuck you sign with his two fingers. I put down the glass and laughed out loud while he frowned.

"I love you!" I screamed out and he straightened his finger.

"Drive away from this compound or I'll blow up your car!" He shouted back and the driver sped out in fear while I clutched my stomach dying with laughter in the back seat.

I'll miss you boo.

My eyes widened in awe when I saw the surroundings of the pack change. The trees became more greener and lively as they swished with energy.

I put down the glass and breathed in the fresh air but that was when my eyes caught it. The shimmering lake stood out as a mesmerizing beauty. From far away, I knew this was the lake of my dreams.

"Wow." The driver said in awe. "I heard of its beauty but I thought it would be like a regular lake."

"Same," I replied as we passed through it and entered the borders of the Moon Dust Pack. I heard a howling sound and looked out my window to see a pack of wolves following us steadily, each standing out in its color.

Yet, a large brown wolf was the most noticeable due to its strength and agility. I smiled knowing it was my friend. We finally drove into a castle-like manor.

Excited, I waited for the car to come to a stop before I came down. My eyes shifted around the large packhouse, scanning every bit of it. This was an Alpha house with his relatives. I nodded at my discovery. There was another packhouse, it was up the hill and its modern look made me crave it.

"Hey!" I heard from afar and turned to see Avery running with a huge T-shirt with nothing else. My eyes widened at her bravery. She caught up to me and dragged me into a big hug.

"Hey! Your pack is awesome. The lake—wow." I complimented and she laughed loudly.

"Yeah, I love it too. This is why I respect early morning and noon runs. Come in, let me show you to your room!" She replied and I laughed at her giddiness, following her inside.

The living room stood out beautifully like ours back home. I suddenly fell in love with the house as we climbed the stairs. Getting up, we walked down the hallways with our steps echoing around.

She suddenly stopped and opened the door to a luxurious en-suite. I entered with all smiles and dropped my bag while she hit her lips at me nervously.

"So? Do you uh- like it?" Her question shocked me cause I had liked anything about the place since I entered the borders.

"Nope," I answered, teasing her which successfully went well cause her face fell. "I love it!" She rolled her eyes and punched my arm a little.

"So what do you wanna do now? Do you wish to start the investigation?" She asked already bored so I shook my head.

"Well, I want to arrange my things then, we would watch a movie and eat pizza. How's that?" I asked and she winked at me supportingly.

The last thing, I wanted to do was to make her feel like I was using her to find more about The Tribrid only. I had already started warming up to her and I couldn't hurt her.

So we would go tomorrow.

The water froze his hands and legs as he sat up, dipping both into the lake. Thoughts ran through his mind repeatedly. Why was he feeling like he was waiting for someone?

The cold water calmed his nerves soothingly. He loved the lake which was why he had to take over the pack in possession of it.

Shuffle.

His ear perked up and he instantly knew someone was here with him. Sniffing the air a little, he couldn't quite place the person or its ability.

The person came closer and he could feel it so he waited. He wanted to kill the creature. He stayed near the water and listened again. The creature was definitely at the back of him, walking stealthily.

In a flash, he jumped on the creature expecting to catch it off guard but he received a sounding blow and flew away landing face flat on the sand.

He grunted as the creature held his two arms at his back. He shouldn't have jumped. But still, no one could face his strength so who could this bastard be?

Before he could flip the creature and return the fucking favor, it leaned into his ear and said with so much venom lacing his tone.

"Next time you want to pick a face. Pick wisely shifter," It said and he stiffened at the voice in recognition.

"Tobias? Toby?" He said in shock. The creature stiffened and left his hands standing up. Zayn grunted and stood up too.

"Zayn? It's you. It's you! How are you alive? I thought-" He hugged him.

Hard.

Zayn stood shocked before putting his arms around him slowly. He had missed Toby so much. He thought he had no one left.

Toby had been alive all these years? And for the first time since his awakening, he gave him a small smile which Toby returned to him. Soon, Toby's smile disappeared and he quickly gave Zayn a spank on the back of his head.

"You went against them Zayn after I begged you not to. We were meant to go together," Zayn rubbed his head and grunted while looking at the lake.

"Well, you ran away," He retorted.

"Because you were crazy! As soon as that bastard died, I lost you," Toby said with a hint of pain in his voice.

Zayn ignored his sad feelings and masked his face with no emotion. "At least I killed them all!"

Toby shook his head, "No idiot! Avalon is still alive! The main reason you did it in the first place!"

Zayn looked at him in exasperation. "Impossible! A witch is nothing without her powers and she fucking cursed me with them." He said with a grunt.

Toby's eyes widened in response. "You're a—"

Zayn shook his head. "Don't say that word, please."

"Holy shit," Toby replied and Zayn looked at him vexed.

"She is still alive. She must have done something." He continued talking and started pacing around the sand. His cold body trembled in anger, he was going to do something.

"Wait a minute!" Toby looked at him disappointed and held his arm to stop him from pacing. "So you're telling me you have three beings inside you and I beat you? You're weak. You need to train!"

Zayn sighed but nodded perhaps he would take over that pack later. "I feel weak," He said while sitting down again.

Toby hit his shoulder and he groaned louder this time rubbing the affected spot.

"You haven't stopped this habit of yours," He said and Toby stared at him with his mouth wide open.

"You weak shit! You need to train. Well it's good you have me, little brother."
