I have been asked about MC's on-and-off knowledge about Marvel so I will give a simple explanation.

Our MC before birth lived in near-slum conditions and by 17 he made himself rich enough to renovate his community and buy a car, which takes some dedication and effort from a young age.

Not 3-4-year-old young but 10-11 year old young at least.

So how much time could he give to Marvel and all, you can imagine.

He can't not know about it in the internet age but that doesn't mean he has to be an avid follower.

Second, the Spiderman cartoon I mentioned, the only time he had was in the childhood and children watch cartoons and even then it took him 6 months of living together, to connect Danny and Iron Fist.

Think how many times he must have heard the words iron fist till he connected it to the cartoon character. 

Lastly his birthday as before 1999, I mentioned it. and he died at 17 in a train accident so yeah he didn't watch the snap.

I will try to mention stuff like this more explicitly, but I think sometimes leaving it for readers to find themselves and connect the dots might be enjoyable.
