Chapter 24-Ehadris' Rage

When was the last time I cried? As far as I remember, after my family disowned me for being a cursed child, the woman I loved when I was a mortal died in the hands of her father. I didn't tell her everything. Now that I have a chance in this timeline to tell her how I feel, she always rejects me and calls me a crazy old jerk. I can't afford to lose her again. Even though I am the God of Death, I didn't activate my powers to the fullest extent. I will save Serena this time. I looked downward and blankly stared at the man who threw the hammer.

"You dare to anger me, fool humans?" I looked at them.

I saw our enemies shaking in fear. When was the last time I saw humans shaking in fear?

"Sael."

I held my head because I heard something echoing in my head. Memories from thirty three years ago are flashing through my mind.

"Shall we start the banquet?" a girl asked me. She was beautiful and had a gentle voice. I frowned in disbelief. When does a party become the happiest place on earth? It is the boring thing that I have always wanted to avoid. "Why do you have to ask me?" I answered.

The girl smiled and said, "Because I know you're the one I can count on!"

I opened my eyes and pain struck my heart. Not a physical pain, but an emotional one. I shouted to the top of my lungs and released an emanating amount of power. If her death is the awakening of my power to its fullest extent, then being powerful while being broken makes me the worst of all.

I tossed a large amount of mana to the humans who caused the death of Serena. No, she's Epiphany. I know she can evade death like she did last time. Zain jumps off the top of his magic circle to reach me. "Ehadris! You should calm down! We're not in Eblines right now! If the palace of Driuce finds out what you did, war will break out!" Zain shouted.

I laughed so hard and looked at Zain. "They are the ones who started this nonsense! So why would I stop? They made Epiphany use the Destruction of Chaos spell! Now it's cost her life!" I answered furiously.

They were shaking in fear. I was about to toss the energy ball from my hand when suddenly I felt a warm from my back. It was back then that my family disowned me for being a cursed child.

"It's okay to get angry and cry. But don't forget to be a human being full of love and happiness," she whispered. My eyes widened. I know who she is.

I said her name, "Themis."

When I turned around, I saw it was Epiphany, alive and smiling, hugging me like she hadn't disappeared earlier. "She teleported to my dimension, and when I found her she was unconscious. I did my best to return her to you. Farewell, Methusael. Until we meet again," Themis said.

We fell from the sky because Themis left Epiphany's body, which made her unconscious. Epiphany was lucky that Themis helped her back to this world. I was afraid of losing her again. It doesn't matter if mortals see my wings. I tossed Epiphany upward and caught her to carry her like a bride. A pair of black feather wings grow from my back and we safely land on the ground.

I hugged her tightly and looked at the face of Epiphany, who was peacefully sleeping. I made my wings vanish and caressed her gentle face.

"I thought I'd lost you again," I said as my voice cracked.

I heard some footsteps and saw a familiar face from thirty three years ago. My expression changed when seriousness got plastered on his face.

"Xavier. The greatest traitor of the House of Larmalleve."

"Methusael. The cursed child of the House of Vernifelon."

Zain and Typhon were running in our direction, and their expressions were priceless when they saw Xavier. I tossed Epiphany to Typhon, and he caught Epiphany by gliding down to the ground.

"Ehadris, you idiot! Do you want to kill me?" Typhon shouted.

I stared at him, and he became silent. "Take away, Your Highness, from here. I will never let this Royal Vampire get her," I said in a cold tone and summoned my black sword.

Zain covered their presence using his saber sword and escaped. Xavier summoned his red sword and furiously charged his attack. I defend myself by deflecting all of his blows. We communicated through our swords, and our feelings were fused to our blades. Our untold views on the different paths that we follow.

"Why did you serve a country that participated in the great war of Asulia? You know how this damaged our lives, especially Serena's! " Xavier shouted.

I raised my eyebrows. How dare he speak as if his path will save Serena once more?

"It's none of your business, Xavier! And don't act like you tried your best to save Serena in the past because you actually didn't! You let her die! Remember? The poison that the queen used to poison her was from your family!"

Xavier was stunned for a moment. "What are you talking about?"

I gripped my sword tightly. "You still don't know? I investigated everything. The one who put her on her death bed is you, Xavier. I should not have let her fall in love with you because I thought, in the end, you would protect her! Erasing my existence in her memory is a bad idea! Because I thought moving away from both of you would make her happy! But everything you showed her was just a lie!"

All my rage and untold words that I kept hiding for many years are now unveiled. All the happy memories that I and Serena had shared, only I could evoke them. Again, we continued our swords to clash. I know that his swordmanship is superior to mine. Using my power as a god to win this fight is unfair unless it will save the one I need to protect. When Epiphany joked way back in Alethea's dimension, I was furious. But when Themis revealed to me that Epiphany was Serena, I was happy. But when it comes to my senses that she joked about marriage, I know in myself that I have to win her heart. But it seems that she still loved you, Xavier! Although all of it was a lie!"

I deflected his blow and ignited sparks from our blades, which have been seen on our clashing swords. But still, it didn't give us a flinch to give up. "I love her! No matter how many times I have to remind her! even if she doesn't remember me in this timeline! I will never stop reminding her how much I love her every day! " I shouted.

His red sword slipped from his hands and stabbed the ground as it landed. I pointed my black sword at his neck. "Don't you ever touch Serena with your filthy hands, Xavier. Remember, you're a Royal Vampire, a mere enemy of humanity. Stop hurting her feelings anymore, Xavier!"

He moved backward and escaped from me. I can't believe that I beat his swordmanship. He left his sword on the ground. I burned it with the underworld fire. I dashed back to the location of the fourth regiment. I need to check on Serena. When I saw them, they were giving Serena a high grade potion to recover her stamina and mana. The spell she used earlier, the Destruction of Chaos, is the one that Stacia used against the first vampire who fell in love with Alethea. Speaking of Alethea, where the hell is she? That old hag goddess! She really likes giving headaches! I calmly walked near them and looked at Serena. I must practice myself calling her Epiphany.

"How is Her Highness? Is she alright?" I asked in a worried tone.

Typhon carried her like a bride. I pouted my mouth in jealousy. She was peacefully sleeping in Typhon's arms. "She's stable now. She stopped breathing for a minute, but thanks to Zain, she's still alive," Typhon said in an irritated manner.

My eyebrows had raised when I saw Zain's blushing cheeks and Typhon's irritated face. Then a realization hits me. My blood boils as I imagine Zain doing that indecency to Serena.

"How did you save Her Highness?" I calmly asked, although I wanted to break Zain's neck.

Typhon signaled Zain to answer my question. On the other hand, Zain was nervous about answering my question. His face was sweating and he kept looking in the other direction. I let out a deep sigh and released one of my dangerous staff. "Zain, I'd ask you one last time. How did you save Her Highness?"

"You need to calm down, Ehadris! I saved her by mouth to mouth respiration!" Zain shouted and covered his mouth.

Caileigh and Dionne nodded. I laughed, but a fake one. "Zain Ashford. Do you wish to see the God of Death? How dare you kiss her lips?" I asked.

I was about to kill Zain when Caileigh hit my head with the sword sheath that he grabbed from Typhon's belt. "Sir Ehadris, with all due respect, please refrain from hurting our Knight Commander.You must remember, he was a candidate to succeed in the position of Knight Grand Cross," Caileigh reminded me.

I frowned and made my staff disappear. "Stop this nonsense, Ehadris. Let's not forget that we have a task here in Driuce," Typhon lectured me.

How could I not be in a rage? Serena's lips were in contact with Zain's! I detest this sensation! Not again this time! I'm sick of being a friend only. I'll do whatever it takes to get her back. Even if I have to beg Mneme to unravel the memories I sealed years ago.
