Chapter 25-Arrival At The Capital

I don't know how many sighs I let out this time. The palace of Driuce was far from our location. I can only use voids for short distances, unlike Her Highness, who can travel from country to country. She was still sleeping in my lap because I don't trust Ehadris. He was frowning when he learned that Zain did mouth-to-mouth artificial respiration for Her Highness. I wish I had the courage to do that, but still, I have respect for Her Highness. I let Zain do that since he knows how to save lives.

I looked at the carriage's window. It's raining outside, and the road ahead was a cliff. I looked for Zain, and he was creating a plan on how to travel across without any danger. On the other hand, Caileigh and Dionne help the fourth regiment to find a safe route since Dionne's specialization is earth magic, while my little sister is light magic. Earth magic is a big help in detecting the enemy's vibrations, while light magic helps to deflect dangerous creatures that are sensitive to light. It also wards off the evil spirits around us.

I got distracted when Her Highness opened her eyes. I immediately gave her a recovery potion because it seemed that the potion she drank earlier was not enough to restore her mana. She almost threw up, but she tried to swallow it. "What kind of poison is that? Are you trying to kill me, Lord Typhon?"

I frowned at her question. Why did I want to kill her? I smelled the potion and all I can say is that it smells like a skunk. I moved the bottle of potion away from my nose and looked at Her Highness. "No. We almost lost you, but at least you came back to life. You have to thank Zain for his gratitude for giving you breath," I said in a bitter tone.

Her face was flushed red. The innocent witch was hiding her face. "Did our lips..." Before she could finish her sentence, I interrupted her. "Yes. In order to save you from dying," I said in an annoyed tone. Her Highness' eyebrows arched in confusion. She pinched my cheeks very hard and looked at me.

"Look, I don't know why you were acting like an old woman who just ended her menstrual cycle. But I'm afraid that before I married the man of my dreams, my first kiss, which I reserved for him, was stolen by someone! Not only once but twice!" She shouted.

That's what I am furious about! Before I could marry her, those two were ahead of me! "Her Highness, you should prepare yourself. At any moment, we could be arriving at the capital of Driuce," I said and gave her some clothes. She can't proceed to the Driuce with that kind of clothing.

She started removing her clothing and my face was flushing red. I looked outside, and then I realized that Her Highness was changing clothes, so I immediately closed the curtains. "Hey! What are you doing? I can't even see a thing! Open up the window!" She shouted.

"No, I can't. People may see our princess' naked body, and I can't allow that," I said in an embarrassing tone. I even turned my back on Her Highness. How stupid I am for not realizing that changing clothes inside the carriage is a stupid idea. "You can look now. I'm finished, "she said. I opened my eyes and opened the curtain. I can't believe that she finished so quickly. Even my little sister, Caileigh, and my mother were reaching for two hours before they could finish wearing their clothes. She even folded her used clothes. What kind of sorcery is that?

"Your Highness, may I ask what kind of spell did you use to finish wearing quickly without reaching for hours?" I asked.

I am too curious to know. "Lord Typhon. There's no sorcery. It's just a skill when I was just a peasant," she said, and wore a purple pendant.

My eyes widened. She still have that pendant? And she carefully took care of it. I smiled and still can't believe that she's still wearing it. "What a cheap necklace. You should throw it." I coldly said. For the second time, she pinched my cheeks really hard. I caressed my cheeks and sternly looked at Her Highness. "What do I have done? It feels like my face was the same as the chipmunks'! "

She laughed elegantly and looked at me. "Why chipmunks?" I covered my mouth and looked in the other direction. "Because it's cute and has fluffy cheeks. Besides, it reminds me of you when you eat biscuits," I said, and then I laughed.

She hit my chest continuously. "How dare you?" She was too cute when she was throwing tantrums. Unlike any woman I had met before, she loved adventures. She doesn't give a thought to what other people will think of her. I leaned my elbow on the carriage window and supported my chin using my palm. She stopped hitting me and sat down on the opposite chair. She crossed her arms and vented some air before she looked in the other direction. "Why did you come all the way from Eblines? Did you know that it was a pain that you lost consciousness?"

"It was also a pain if I let my knights die, knowing that I could help them travel safely back to their families. What if all of you died earlier? Do you think you are worthy of my tears? I don't want to attend your funerals," she said.

Why does she think that she is better than the knights? I hate to say this, but worrying about us limits our ability. And she doesn't have to.

"What do you think of us? Weaklings? Mind yourself and never meddle in our affairs. After we arrive and rest in the capital, you should return to Eblines the next morning," I lectured her.

When we arrived at the drawbridge, I showed my permit to the guards, and they allowed us to enter the capital. The capital of Driuce was as colorful as it is. "Heh, so this is the capital of Driuce? I remember I beat one of the thugs here. I wonder how he is. "

Thugs? Did she just come here before? I shook my head and never worried about what she did here before. When we arrived at the capital's palace, the sound of the orchestra had been heard. "I never expected that this palace would have such laborious decorations and statues," Her Highness said in amazement.

I raised my eyebrows and looked at her. I presumed she had previously visited this location. "Driuce was known for its artwork, like paintings and sculptures. You should have known that since you've been here before," I said in disbelief.

She crossed her arms and looked in the other direction. "I came here before, because I was escaping from the Cardinal Order of the Glaustein. At that time, Dionne was in charge of capturing me. Then I came here after I escaped from Dionne. I helped the children escape from their fear. The syndicate. But this city is also near Narlet City," she said while looking around.

Narlet City? What kind of sorcery is that? "How did you travel from here to Narlet City? It's eight hours away from here!" I shouted.

"We rode my broomstick," she said. How convenient! I wish knights and mages had magic broomsticks too! As we were setting foot on the palace grounds, a lady ran towards me and jumped on me. I immediately caught her to avoid our falling to the ground. "Good day, Your Highness. It's been a while. How are you?"

She jumped out at me and swirled around like she always does. "I'm fine, Lord Typhon! Anyway, who is this lady beside you? Your valet?" She asked.

She is Princess Sarin, the first princess of Driuce. She has a controversial rumor because every time she gets married, the next morning her husband dies. That's why no one wants to be her husband. On the other hand, King Corentin the First of Eblines, the current king, made a request to investigate because no nobles could participate in this investigation. Even their knights do not dare volunteer as the princess's groom, as they may end up a cold corpse. The Driuce's current king fell ill and is currently worried that the first princess has fallen into some sort of curse.

"Greetings, Your Highness. Forgive me if I haven't introduced myself to you," Her Highness lifted her long gown a little bit as a sign of respect. A cold glare has been seen in Princess Sarin's eyes, but Princess Epiphany doesn't give a damn. How unbothered she is. "I don't care. I forget the valet's name anyway," Princess Sarin said.

Princess Epiphany covered her mouth and smiled. She rebutted Princess Sarin's insult,"Oh my, Princess Sarin. I even forgot the names of every vampire and mongrel I encountered! Maybe later I will forget your name since you looked like it! "

Although I want to laugh, I need to stop this mockery because it will ruin our investigation. I was about to stop them when the first prince of Driuce interfered. He signaled to me not to intervene in their encounter. "It's the first time I saw someone who rebutted like that to my little sister. She's kind of interesting,"the first prince said, and he held his chin.

I lied. "She was Lady Epiphany, from the House of Saberblade."

It's so tiring to tell a lie, but it was for her safety. The person I'm talking to is Prince Herik, the first prince of Driuce.

In such a cold tone, he said, "It's nice to know that there's still a man who would like to be my little sister's fiancé after the spread of those rumors."

I felt a cold aura from him. I looked back at Her Highness and she was still picking a fight with Princess Sarin. "How dare you call me a mongrel? Do you want to experience death?" Princess Sarin asked.

"Try me. I bet you won't tarnish your hands with blood. After all, you are a puppet who talks according to your position in this society. Right, the power in the state was your source of courage, but without it, you were voiceless. Unless you have the courage to fight, even if you are powerless." Princess Epiphany said, and she crossed her arms.

Princess Sarin bolted, and she even released a poisonous gas. Princess Epiphany creates a barrier that locks them inside. I immediately slammed the barrier she made. "Is that lady insane?" Prince Herik asked and he helped me slammed the barrier.

"So you really wish for your death?" Princess Sarin asked.

"Nope. But I'm saving the people around us. Maybe your furiousness is really the reason why most of your husband died. You cannot control your ability," Princess Epiphany said.

But how did she know about this? Unless someone told her. But who? I never told anyone. My eyes widened when I realized that she'd been helping Cloud with his research last time. That Cloud!

"This is the reason why I was always worried about you. This lady in front of us has the ability to release poison gas without her knowing it. During our research, Cloud told me that those nobles die by inhaling some sort of nerve agent called Sarin. The name of the princess itself. Cloud told me that the knight who handled the corpses was found unconscious and given immediate treatment," Princess Epiphany told us.

Cloud! I'm going to wreck your neck! Princess Epiphany continued and looked at Princess Sarin. If they continued to lock themselves inside the dome, they would be at risk of being killed by the poison.

"We did a little experiment to counteract this poison. Although these might irritate your skin," Princess Epiphany said and opened a bottle. She tossed the bottle, and the poison gas was immediately neutralized. For some reason, I got curious about what was inside that bottle. Princess Sarin was shouting in pain due to irritation of her skin because of the liquid inside the bottle.

"Zain! We need a water mage here! Make sure he covers his nose and mouth using a damp cloth!" she shouted.

One of the knights immediately ran to my side and cast a water element upon us. Princess Epiphany immediately removed the barrier and ran to me, covering my nose and mouth with a damp cloth. While she covered my mouth, I lost consciousness while the water from above soaked us. The last thing I heard from her was my name.

"Lord Typhon! Don't die on me!"
