Chapter 53
Josh took it without asking anything and drinks a little, he is curious about her change of attitude because she has always been rigid even when they saw each other but now she is offering him drink and snacks in her house.
"Were you busy when I called?" She suddenly asked trying to have a normal conversation and checked the time. It's been almost an hour since she text Mike also and he should be on his way.
Josh answered no and took his phone to check the time, he has another appointment with a business partner and he is supposed to go for a business course in the evening to another City.
"Good, then we can spend sometime together" she said and stood up from her seat to sit closer to him
"Aren't you getting married tomorrow?" Josh asked confused by her words and what she meant
"Yes, I am. Are you bothered by that?" She asked like she doesn't care and lean in closer to him but Josh shift backwards
"What are you doing?" He asked
"What are you talking about? Am doing nothing" she answered and suddenly sat down on his lap before he could resist, Josh push her away but she proved stubborn and held until him firmly not letting go.
"Have you gone nuts?" Josh asked again astonished that she is throwing herself into his arms willing like that, he thought maybe she is crazy or something and tries to push her away again but they end up getting more entangled with each other.
They struggle with each other and Amanda managed to remove his suit and pull off his tie, he pull her under him and tries to get away but she held into him tightly not letting go
As the two of them struggle, they heard a sound at the door and someone inputting the passcode and stopped the both of them looked at each other and Josh saw the smile on Amanda's face and realized he has been tricked.
Before he could get up, Mike entered and saw the both of them in that awkward situation.
"What the hell!" Mike said I'm disbelief and that's when Amanda let him go.
Mike was quick to recognize who Josh is because he has done done findings on him as Amanda's boss before getting money and he is also aware that Amanda has stopped seeing him but now that they are together, he is shocked and furious.
"Are you still together?" Mike thundered at her but Amanda remained calm and stood in front of Josh who is still seating and amazed at the fact that he has just been used.
"You are here early?" Amanda answered with a mocking smile on her face. She feels really happy to see his angry face.
"You whore! You have the nerve to bring him to your house a day before getting married to me" he yelled and tried to hit her, Amanda wasn't excepting the hit and couldn't dodge his hand but Josh stopped him before he could.
"Don't hit her" he warned although he knows they are both wrong.
"Of course, you will protect her but did she tell you who I am" he said furious but didnt dare to hit josh out of anger or he might into trouble with him later
"Of course he knows, my Ex" Amanda answered instead. Those words sounds like an arrow is shot at him and Mike calmed down.
"Ex? Who is your ex?" He asked but she didn't say anything, he realizes that she is being serious with calling him her ex and panicked. His girlfriend just broke up with him and he is left with her.
"What nonsense are you saying?" Mike questioned in a loud voice and Josh move out of the way.
He is a bit confused about the actual situation of things and it seems like Amanda is up to something but one thing he is sure of is she is playing the both of them.
He took a seat like he is unconcerned with whatever is happening and eat the snacks in the plate quietly.
Mike keep questioning Amanda about her words and what she mean by bringing Josh to her house but she didn't give him a reasonable reply
"I just changed my mind, my boss is richer and is even generous to give me a huge amount of money to pay your debts" she said after giving him attitude
"Generous?" Mike chuckled not hiding the scorn in his voice
"You slept with that bastard to get the money!" He screamed in her face and Amanda laughed mockingly
"I had no idea you were aware, Gosh am really sorry but now we don't have any reason to get married tomorrow" she retorted which makes him more annoyed, Mike kick the flower vase beside him angrily. The broken vase scattered all over the room
"Are you toying with me right now!"
"You toyed with me first!" Amanda yelled back visibly scared by the broken vase but still not backing down because if she did then that will means that she admit defeat, the both of them stared digger at each other
Josh keep eating without interfering or helping her, he finished the snacks on the plate and drank the whole content of the glass then he heard Mike words which means he knows Amanda cheated on him but is even more shocked when Amanda act like its nothing.
What on earth is going on? What kind of relationship do they have? They both know one of them is unfaithful and still about to get married.
Josh dropped the cup in his hand and move closer to the both of them.
He pull Amanda away from him and stood in front of Mike who turned away angrily and held his hair in anger
"Why don't you leave first, I don't think this noise is going to work" he said and Mike turned to Amanda angrily.
"You haven't heard the last of this" he said angrily and left knowing there is nothing he can do right now since its two against one.
After he left, Amanda relaxed and turned to Josh who has his hands in his pocket and looks at her for explanation.
Amanda turned away from him and head inside the room trying to leave but he stand in her way to stop her and he turned his head sideways for her to explain.
"There is nothing for me to explain, am sure you can already guess the answer you want" she said reluctantly
"I think I need to get the answer from you, did you just play me?" He questioned amazed at her nonchalant attitude pointing his hand to his chest.
"You are the best person to use" she answered in a simple sentence and rolled her eyes
Josh smirked more surprised at her boldness to talk to him that way, he didn't know she has such attitude in her
"Can i come back to work tomorrow? You said to return anytime"
"Sure you can, your office is still vacant but… Are you really not going to get married tomorrow?" Josh asked to be sure
"Yes, I can't marry a man who doesn't love me and he was planning to break up with me any ways" she told him and sat down again.
Josh sighed in in relief first because she wouldn't be getting married to someone like Mike and also because she is coming back to the company.
He can't deny missing her and feeling her absence since she has left the office and wouldn't let someone take her place.
Josh had thought to tell her about the truth of the money she gave him and his unfaithfulness, he is sure that will break them up but he will hurting her feelings also and now that she is the one who want to break their relationship then he is definitely happy.
"Then you don't want to get married anymore?" He queried
"Of course I want to, my dream is to have a loving husband and kids in a small happy home but I guess I won't be able to fulfil it anytime soon" she answered with sadness evident in her voice. Josh sat down and held her hand gently to comfort her
"Why did you like me?" Amanda suddenly asked looking at him directly in the eyes.
Josh was taken aback by her question and caught off guards so he couldn't answer immediately and slowly release her hand.
Amanda sensed his action and her face looks disappointed, she already know that he is not the type to be committed to someone or keep a steady relationship with an woman but she still wanted to know and hear answers from him and his action just confirmed her believes
"The sex right? Because I was a virgin or because I let you sleep with me for money?" She questioned sadly but Josh still couldn't reply.
He is also not sure why he took a liking to her, could it actually be because she was a virgin or some other reason apart from the great sex they had.
Amanda turned her face away to the other side in anger and close her eyes to stop the tears that was threatening to come out then she stood up and tells him to leave
"Thank you for your help tonight, am tired so see you tomorrow at work" she said forcing herself to smile at him.
Josh stood up absentminded but didn't make an attempt to leave the house, he was lost in thought trying to figure out why exactly he doesn't want to let her go and suddenly finds the other women he sleeps with boring and uninteresting
"Its not because of that" he said and Amanda stare at him confused
"What?" She asked
"Its not because you were a virgin or any of those reasons" he repeated, his eyes brighten up like a child that has just realized where his candy is and he held her shoulders in excitement which is confusing to her
"What!" She said again still not getting his point.
Josh pull her into his arms not waiting to explain and placed his lips on hers, he feels that warm and pleasant feelings that he longed to feel immediately their lips touched. Josh kissed her lips more and used his tongue to soak on her mouth making her lips wet.
For Amanda, it was a different feelings of excitement and shock, she is still rendered powerless by his touch that even a kiss makes her heart race.
She didn't try to stop him but kissed him back instead which lead to a steamy kiss between the both of them and they just let their tongues fight and lock with each other.
They stopped after a few minutes to take a breath still not putting away from each other but rest their foreheads on each others breathing heavily.
"Its because I really like you" Josh finally said and move to kiss her again, the kiss starts slowly this time and things is getting heated up again when Amanda suddenly stopped him and pushed him away slightly.
"But you don't want to get married" she said having a mixed feelings, Josh stare at her with no words
"You are a Playboy and even if you like me you don't want to get married or have children but I do" she told him and stopped to take another step away from him and held her forehead devastated with her feelings and the reality of things.
She just got out of an ill-relationship and going into another that might end up the same way isn't really a sensible thing to do
"I don't want a boyfriend, I want someone who will spend the rest of his life with me, together and forever" she added.
Josh sighed and put his hand in his pocket, he knows that he can't promise her those things that she wants and having a family with kids is definitely not on his list, even if he will consider having one he will have to think about it. He pick up his suit and kissed her forehead despite her resistance then turned to leave
"Let's forget anything ever happened between us" Amanda said to his back and watch him leave with tears in her eyes then locked the door after him angrily.
