Chapter 35 : I’m in love with you

The holidays came faster than I expected because, with every passing day, I couldn’t help but think about Della. I kept standing in front of my mirror every night, rehearsing how I was going to confess to her. I still couldn’t come up with a final line to use, but regardless, I didn’t mind. I was still eager to see her.

My father and I headed to the airport together and flew to New Orleans. Throughout our flight, my dad seemed pretty distant, like he had things going on in his mind.

“Father, is everything all right? You don’t seem quite excited about this.”

He looked at him and shook his head. “It’s nothing, Dave. I’m just thinking about random things,” he answered with a smile.

“Right. What was I thinking? I shouldn’t expect you to be so excited about going to New Orleans. It isn’t your first time going there.” I chuckled.

“Right. And, I am going there to work, not for my own pleasure. It’s not the same thing with you.”
