Chapter 19 : I want you

Mr. Cary held my hand throughout the drive back home. He was so worried about me, and I was happy that he was. After hearing those disheartening words, I felt only he could stick by my side because I needed him to, not because he was going to gain something in return. I was so grateful to him for turning up for me when I needed him the most, but I wasn’t sure how to show gratitude to a rich, older man.

“Are you okay?” Mr. Cary’s soft, soothing voice jolted me out of my thoughts.

I looked up and realized we were at my house already.

I glance over at him as a feeble smile lit up my face. “Yes.” I realized tears still lingered at the bottom of my eyes, so I wiped them off with my fingers.

“It’s fine, okay? I’m here now,” he said as he opened the door. He hurried out and rounded the car to get the door for me.

I was amused by it because it was still raining, but he still wanted to get the door for me. He was an absolute gentleman.
