Mr. Cary slid off me and fell to my side, his skin hot and damp against mine. We were panting as we lay weakly on the bed, totally naked. I turned my head to look at him and he did the same. Chuckling at each other, he reached for my sweaty hand and interlocked it with his.

“That was so amazing.” He was still fighting to catch his breath.

“No doubt it’s the best sex of my life,” I responded.

He lifted his brows in awe. “Really?”

“Yes,” I responded with a small smile. We both went silent and stared at each other for what felt like forever.

“I love you, Mr. Cary,” I said out of the blue, without thinking.

His pupils dilated as soon as he heard those words. He reached for my face with his hand, caressing my cheek tenderly.

“I love you too, Della.” His face didn’t look happy when he said such important and happy words.

“Then why? Why does anything else matter? Why can’t we just follow our hearts? Why do we have to worry about what others will think?”
