Just like an iceberg

After coming inside, grandpa said, "Helen."

"Yes dad," mom said. Hearing it, I looked at her.

Mom has not turned to me, and grandpa said, "You will have a lot of explanations."

"I know."

Hearing it, I could see Grandpa Cole coming to us. Seeing us, he said, "What is happening?"

"Dad, we need to talk. Can you call moms to come to us" mom said.

"Oh, why? I heard you need to go," Grandpa Cole said.

Hearing his words, I shook my head and said, "Maybe I should."

"Oh no, Jack. You should stay here," mom said.

Hearing it, I nodded and walked after her. When four of us came into the one room, my grandfather sat. Seeing it, I looked at them, and grandmothers showed up.

Seeing them, mom said, "oh, where is the rest?"

"Girls are changing. Adam talking with Josh, "Grandma Cole said. Hearing it, I looked at mom.

Seeing me, grandma Williams said, "So you called us about him."

"Yes honey," grandpa said. Hearing it, I looked at them. Seeing my look, grandma said, "So, who are you?"

"Jack Smith."

"Jack Smith. Jack Smith. I recognise this name from somewhere," grandma said.

Hearing her words, I said, "You probably had. Especially from first, high school."

"Oh, right. So it was you."

"Yes. Thanks to you, I was suspended. Maybe once you could know the entire story," I said, and as grandma looked at me, I added, "grandma."

"I am not your grandma," she said.

"Mom," mom said. Hearing her words, I said, "mom. Do not worry."

"Jack, what do you mean by being suspended? Why don't I know anything about this?" mom said.

"He argued with the teacher," grandma said.

"You know why?" I asked, looking into grandma's eyes.

Hearing me, she shook her head. Seeing it, I nodded and said, "So you only heard what I had done. No idea why this had happened."

"So give us light about this," Grandpa Cole said.

Hearing his words, I said, "Paula Evans invited me to have lunch in the cafeteria. After coming here, an English teacher came and wanted to throw me away. Just as I am not rich."

"Jack," mom's voice comes.

"So, as I was saying. He just does not like me. Even rules were on my side. He just doesn't want to listen, and I said a few words too much."

"So what?" grandma said.

"Oh, my god" grandma Cole said.

Hearing her, I nodded, and she asked, "You know why he is like that?"

"As I was saying. He doesn't like me. Probably because I don't have money. No more ideas, why it can be."

"Oh, this is a good point," Grandma Cole said.

"Still. You should be nice to your teachers," grandma Williams said.

"Not when you are for him, like trash. Yes. Do not look at me. A slight mistake, and I have minus two or even more points. Everyone else does the same thing. Nothing."

"Grandma, he is like that," Megan's voice came.

Hearing it, I nodded, and Adam added, "yes. He was, is, and will be like that to someone who doesn't have money."

"Why is he like that?" grandma Williams said. Hearing it, I shook my head, and Adam said, "We don't know."

As I looked at them, I could see Joanna coming inside, and when she hugged me, she said, "my little brother. Your older sister missed you."

"Oh, come on Jo." Megan's voice came, and she continued, "You saw him today."

"Still," Joanna said while hugging me.

Seeing it, the grandmothers looked at me, and grandpa Williams said, "Helen."

"Yes, dad," mom said. Hearing it, I looked at her, and Joanna whispered, "Doc is coming."

"Ok," I said.

Hearing me, Joanna nodded, and as she kept hugging me, Grandpa Williams said, "You're saying he is your son. From who?"

"Dad. Can you think for some time? You really cannot see Jack, your grandson. Maybe you should start wearing glasses," dad's voice comes.

"Impossible" grandma Williams said.

Hearing her words, I nodded and said, "For me, this is impossible too."

"You are an imposter. For sure, you will not receive any money from Williams's family. Nothing," grandma Williams said.

Hearing it, I nodded. I want to stay calm here.

Looking at her, I said, "Ok. Just let me have a place to live until I am done with school. I can go away."

This only come to my mind. She is cold to me.

Just like an iceberg.

"Jack" the sisters, mom said.

Hearing it, I looked at them and said, "they taught me. I should listen to my elders. As my grandmother does not want me in the family, I can go away. Just for now, as I am still studying. In front of me, are the last exams. I want to have a place to live."

"Ok. We can have this deal," grandma Williams said. Hearing it, I looked at grandpa Williams.

Maybe he can say something else.

Just don't agree with grandma.

As he looked at me. He finally said, "Your name is Jack."

"Yes," I said.

"Good. As you said. We will follow this."

"Grandpa," the sisters said.

"Dad," mom and dad said at the same time.

"Thank you. I don't want to be homeless once again."

"Wait. What do you mean once again? "Grandma Cole asked.

"Mom, you heard about the Evans girl accident?" mom asked.

When grandma nodded, mom continued, "Jack saved her. From what I know. The family in which he keeps living asked to find their son. So when he came back, they kicked Jack out."

"Oh," grandma Williams only said.

To me, she is stone-cold.

No idea if she is like that to anyone, but still.

This first time talking is hard.

I tried to be strong.

Still, slowly, something started breaking in me.

Knowing it, I looked at everyone and said, "If all is clean now, can I go back to the place where I am living?"

"Jack," mom said. Hearing it, I looked at her and said, "I will talk to you later. Mom. Now I just want to leave you some space."

"Little brother," Joanna said.

Hearing her, I looked into her eyes, and when she smiled, I said, "As I said. I can see you have a lot here to talk about. I will go to school tomorrow, and need to continue being the best."

"Oh, really best? I am curious in what," grandma Williams said.

"He is better than I was," Megan said. Probably her words now mean something.

Seeing my grandparents look at me, I nodded and trudged out of the room.

If I stay there longer. Probably I cannot keep up with my emotions.

Knowing it, I looked at JJ, who was probably there with the rest of the division's commanders. Seeing it, I smiled and said, "JJ, can we go now?"

"Ok. Let's go," he said. Hearing it, I looked at my sister's bodyguards and said, "Sorry for what happened."

"Oh, no problem," Marko said. Hearing it, I nodded, and a bodyguard, who had a knife close to my neck, said, "I am so sorry, young master."

"Do not worry about this. You did not know," I said, and when he nodded, I looked at him and continued, "grandpa orders, so you need to follow them."

"Yes," he said. Hearing it, I nodded and strolled outside.

Seeing JJ waiting there for me, I looked at him, and he said, "So fuck up."

"Yes. Probably grandma hates me. To my place," I said. Hearing me, JJ nodded.

Seeing it, I forced a smile onto my face. I just wanted to break now.

Knowing it, I sat inside and drove back home.

When JJ, who knows when parked in front, I said, "thanks."

"No problem."

"See you tomorrow," I said, and when he nodded, I walked out.

After coming finally to the doors, I could not hold my emotions.

Maybe I was too cold earlier, but I tried to be calm.

Now I cannot hold it anymore.

I opened the doors and walked inside, almost immediately deactivating the alarm. When I had done this, I closed the doors using a lock.

Now nobody should come inside.

Knowing it, I sat, and when I hid my face between my knees, I started crying.

I thought my first meeting with my grandparents would be better.

Grandpa put a knife to my neck. Not him, but his men.

Grandma does not want me in the family.

From the second grandpa, I could see nothing.

Only grandma Cole had some feelings.

I had this feeling. Still, Grandma William's words that I will receive nothing from this family hurt me a lot.

I do not care about money.

I just want a family.

I keep sitting and crying.

No idea how long passed.

My eyes hurt.

I am hungry.

It is cold for my ass.

I finally moved.

When I cleaned my face, I shook my head.

Slowly getting up, I walked to the kitchen, and after grabbing peace go ham, I started eating it and walking to the bedroom.

Tomorrow I will take a shower.

Now I want to lie and continue crying.

Thinking more about what had happened, it hurt more.

I could be cold with my answers.

Still, their words to me were colder.

No idea what I can think about this.

I only lay on my back and continued feeling tears coming down.

No idea when but I fell asleep at one point.
