Vol 2 Ch 30

Valeria had hugged her daughter as she looked at Doom leaving. She had thought that her marriage would have helped her country, but now when she had looked at the King and the prince her husband standing together. She realized that in the end she was once more used. And now she may loose her own daughter because of that.

Victor had left. There was a feeling of relief in his heart as well. Atleast, now he won't have any regrets. He could now truly focus on his own revenge and his own goals.

He had given a call of rebellion and people began to flock to his banner.

He had also heard about the maksed man named Tobi. So he had contacted him and the mercenary had proven himself to be adept. He had no intention of any more of his people's blood been spilled. So, he had made an unusual acquaintance with Tobi and till now he was satisfied. He ordered his doom army to begin distribution of rations among the hungry focusing first one the children.

It was almost dawn, and he awaited his mercenary.

-----------------------------------------------------

Loki had looked around and he was amazed by the amount of people that were pouring into the camps.

They had weapons equipped from sword and hoes to the AK-47 them. Loki was starting sigh as he had started to fear that Victor would use them as meat shields. In the same way, Loki had also scouted their enemies positions as well. While most of them held mostly antique weapon from the era of World War 2. He had also seen soldiers who were more well equipped. Carrying weapon more advanced then what was publicly available. An aura of professionalism about them.

Loki looked at the time, it was time for his meeting with his employer victor.

Loki had re sunk into the ground and had begun to make his way to the rebel camp. There he felt Victor in the vicinity of other people. Loki had continued to utilize hiding like a mole technique as he got closer to see what was happening.

"Here kid, have some food. I can see you are hungry," Victor was taking some gruel and was personally feeding it to the child while he was talking.

"I also have brought some medical equipment and the like. Patch everyone up." He was ordering the bots around him.

"Get those tents set up stat. Use them to shelter those who are sick and old." Victor was ordering a few of his robots.

Loki kept of hearing the conversation. "Food, medicine, clothes. Distribute it among everyone and make sure that my people are well fed and clothed." Victor had clenched and unclenched his hands as he had kept on looking at the people gathered around him. Looking at their disheveled state. If only he had been here sooner. But, it does not matter. He is here now.

One of the old women were thanking him as the robots were applying some medicine to some young children of her tribe. She was weeping and thanking Doom profusely.

Loki was a little bit impressed and a part of him had decided to continue with the contract. If he had not decided to do such a thing, he would have left the gold and then would have returned. But, now he was curious about this man called Victor Von Doom and what he had represented as a whole. He had expected an upcoming tyrant yet what he had gotten was someone very different.

Loki had risen up from the ground in front of Victor when he was done delegating orders. Loki pretended to be stuck with only his torso appearing. "Man, I am stuck."

So he had used his hands to prop himself up from the ground. "Finally free."

Looking at Victor who was staring down at him. He had rubbed the back of his head. "Sorry about that, I was a little stuck."

Victor had sighed, "You were down there for some time." There was no expression on his face as he stared at Loki.

"Sorry about that, I did not wish to disturb you or spook anyone while you were giving orders." Loki said as he waved his hand around.

"And also to see what kind of person you are working for as well." Victor had replied as he had turned around and started to leave.

"Please follow me." Victor requested Loki. As he began to walk, he continued his conversation with Loki. "You need not worry. I would have done the same as you did. I hired you for this very specific reason."

Victor had stopped near a cooking pot as he had taken off his mask and tasted a little bit of the soup. He had nodded to himself and then continued on his journey. "I could have hired anyone, there is no shortage of killers, generals in this world. The gold I gave you could have been used to hire entire armies. Are you not curious why I did not just do that."

Loki was a little bit curious about that fact. Because what he had said was true. Mercenaries would have served him better compared to other people. "I will admit I am curious about that."

Victor had nodded at the confirmation. "I have the forces to take over Latveria personally. Look around you at the different range of robots I have." Victor said waving his hand to call attention to the variety of robots taking care of people. Making food, setting up camp. The other in the outer part of the camp gathered in large ranks. Loki could count up to a thousand of them.

"These are enough to take over Latveria. I do not need any help." Victor had stopped.

He had turned to look at Loki once more. "I do not need killers, what I need are people who can save my people. I do not intend for their to be any Latveria blood spilled today." VIcotr had gained a hard look in his eyes as he looked around the camp. "Enough of my people's blood had been spilled."

"My mother was killed by the Baron's soldiers, my father was killed when he failed to save the life of the Baron's wife. He gave his life to make sure I lived. He froze to death because of me." Hatred burned in his heart as he remembered the scene. A bitter expression was on his face.

"I want you to not kill any Latverian. And rescue them. My rebellion has caught wind and the Baron would order the execution of the normal people to scare them into submission." Victor had clenched and unclenched his hand. "I will not allow such a thing."

"And the foreign armies." Loki had asked.

"So, you discovered their presence as well. Impressive. They are fair game." Victor had continued walking.

"Do not worry, it's only a little while now." Victor had said. They were outside the camp and were walking towards along a path leading up a mountain.

Loki was admiring the local scenes as he saw area untouched by humans civilization. Many small streams of water were running down the mountain as they continued to travel upwards. A few rabbits were hoping around, the air around him smelled like spring. "It is fine, people seldom take time to admire the nature around them."

Victor had laughed at his words. "That is true. I myself am guilty of that fact." He admitted to Loki.

"But lets speed up the trip." Victor said as he activated the thrusters in his armor and began to fly towards the peek. Loki began to keep pace with him by jumping from one part of the mountain to another. Sometimes running up the vertical surface of the mountain. Scaling the mountain in this way.

Loki jumped onto the peak and Victor had landed soon after.

"Impressive." Victor complimented Loki as he had crossed his arms.

Loki had found himself overlooking the entire country. A castle in the center of it. Alot of the landscape surrounded by clouds. Green valleys, flowing clean rivers.

"Beautiful, is it not?" There was a fond smile on Victor's face as he looked down.

Loki said. "Yes, It is."

Victor nodded at that. His face lost its smile and he became serious. "Tobi, why do you think that humanity is as it is."

"And how do you believe humanity to be." Loki had inquired from him.

"They destroy everything in their paths. Treating their fellow humans like cattle. The rich prosper while the poor are slaughtered. So many left to the mercies of the world. Destroying our entire planet, and if they reach other. Those would be destroyed as well. Greed and fear are the primary motivators. And those who hide within shadown wield both as a weapon to retain their power."

Loki replied. "And yet their are humans who show compassion, who fight for what is right and true. Who devote their entire life to attain peace. Those who give their life to shine a light on the people who hide in the shadows. For they cannot survive in the light."

Doom had looked at him with narrowed eyes. "And how do you believe that peace can be achieved."
