Chapter twelve BETRAYAL IS A MUST

"In this day, the commander of the 47th battalion, Gilbert Wil Hawke was found that he was a double spy and he will be punished by beheading him ", the jury of the court said. Murmurs can be heard around the room where Gilbert was after being put in court. "Why don't you pay a visit to the others and bid farewell", Sorano said. "That will just make a mess", Gilbert replied while looking at his chained hands. "The army general told me his plan about making Ranga the next commander of the battalion ",Sorano told the former soldier. "That'll be fine with me. Ranga has the spirit of a leader. Things will go well around him",Gilbert said smiling. "Tommorow will be your execution. Be ready to introduce yourself in hell", Sorano told him and went to put him in a prison made for mages. "So that's how it is...", Ranga said looking down. After Sorano told them about the commander, they gasped in disbelief. The commander who they respected was the traitor who put Parrish in danger. But to Ranga, he felt betrayed. He had been admiring Gilbert since the day he helped them. He was his role model. Ranga tried to ignore the devastated emotions of his but his heart sanked even deeper. "You should stay here again for the night and attend the execution. And Ranga be sure to go there tommorow, the army general will be needing you", Sorano said heading towards the door. He just nodded unable to speak. While going to check on Parrish, Sorano met the old lady. "The brat is fine now. She just needs to rest and wait for her to wake up", the granny said," Now that my job is done, I suppose that I'll be going home now", she continued before getting a teleporting talisman and was ready to leave. "Thanks for that, grandma...",Sorano said making the old lady smile and left. It was a silent night and the sounds of snoring echoed in the hallways. The Aerial squad was in a deep sleep but not everyone. A figure lurked through the halls and stood in front on one of the doors. It slowly opened it and went inside. The room inside is where the major is resting and the figure went and stood beside the bed scanning at the sleeping girl. It reached out it's pocket revealing a syringe with an unknown black liquid inside it. "So you are the friend that Gilbert is talking about...",Sorano said pointing a gun on his head. "Ara! How unfortunate of me",the man said raising his hands and dropping the syringe to the floor. "I didnt expect to see another traitor. It must be good being a double spy". "It was! I had to kill both of my foes and friends. I thought you wouldn't pay attention to her safety after caughting the wrong guy. I guess I was wrong"."Wrong guy? Gilbert isn't with you?!". The next day, the whole military army gathered in the HQ for the execution of the former commander. "Any last words? ",the executioner asked. Gilbert just smirked and said, "I hate being beheaded...". His head was about to cut off when Sorano stopped them. "Don't kill that man! He's innocent!",she said going infront of the crowd while dragging Kalel. "Last night, someone tried to end the life of Parrish, major of the Aerial squad and a great tactician. I was there and stopped the guy which he told me that he's the double spy and Gilbert was not a part of it. That guy turns out to be a military soldier, assigned on the 47th battalion, a member of the Aerial squad with the name of Kalel Kruger!",she yelled throwing Kalel in front. "Hey kid! I'm glad you'll be taking my place", Gilbert said waving his hands after being released. After that, the executioners was about to cut the spy's head when Ranga stopped them. "Let me be the one to kill that traitor! ". The army general nodded in approval and they handed the swords to Ranga. He stood in front of Kalel with deadpan eyes, "You must've enjoyed backstabbing us, didn't you"."Ahh Ranga! That was the most exciting part and also it improved my acting skill",Kalel said smiling. "So you still have the audacity to smile after what you've done. My respect to sir Hawke also went out because of your doings. Gilbert realized what was going on and started to laugh. "Don't worry...your words aren't that harsh, I think. But you had done a good job going there on time", he said smiling at Sorano. She blushed furiously and apologized. "Anyway, Gilbert...the army general is giving back your title. If you hadn't just acted out, I would not be saying those harsh things"."I need to do that in order for Kalel to reveal himself". Parrish trusts her comrades a lot not caring what happens to her life. She doesn't want to lose anyone again. That girl promised to herself that this will be her last squad. ", she said punching Gilbert. Scared of having more bruise, the commander ran away leaving the doctor behind. "You really are a big dummy...and that's what I love about you...", Sorano said watching the commander as he ran away.
