Chapter eleven SILVER BULLET

Sorano and Gilbert had no time to waste and took the fainted girl inside the HQ. The girl is dying and they still haven't contacted the mage doctor they wanted to meet with. They called out every mage who could use teleportation to get the doctor. "Hurry or else her whole body will be poisoned!", Sorano exclaimed checking the girl's vitals. Her heart was beating rapidly and was breathing hard. She started to sweat and groaned in pain while gripping her chest. More blood came out of her mouth than made Sorano panick even more. A mage suddenly teleported infront of them with an old lady beside him. "After parting, the brat is still giving me troubles!", the old lady exclaimed and headed towards Parrish. "Old hag! You're here...", Sorano said glancing at the old lady. "You've grown up as a fine lady, Sorano but you still didn't learn to respect your old grandma...how rude", the granny said checking at Parrish. "Oh my! This brat got herself in really big trouble...she's gonna die", the old lady said unbothered by it. "You all go outside, I don't want to be interrupted but jerks!", she yelled pointing at the door making them leave. Sorano, Gilbert and the Aerial squad waited in the hallway. Ranga couldn't hold back any longer and asked the commander about how the major got into such state with only a bullet. Gilbert cleared his throat, "That isn't just an ordinary bullet, kid". He took out the silver bullet from his pocket and opened it revealing a the contents of the bullet. "Black gun powder? What's so unordinary about it", Conrad said staring at the bullet. "This is not a gun powder. These are ashes from a beast's remains", Sorano said. "Ashes of a dead beast?!", they all exclaimed. "It's kind of hard to explain so I'll just tell you everything about it. Do you know what beasts are? Where they came from?", Gilbert said. They shrugged their shoulders wanting to hear more. "For a long time, there are babies who are born with such powers called magic. They were called mages", Gilbert said facing them. "Uhh...we already know about mages, sir. What does it have to do with beasts? ", Ryleigh asked. Gilbert just laughed and got into a serious mood. "Mages are blessed with only one ability or magic. After years passed,some mages weren't contented with their magic and thirsted for more power. They started to kill the other mages and absorbed their magic. Their magic grew stronger but the problem is that they couldn't control it. The magic inside them soon consumed their life and destroyed their bodies. They got bigger and changed appearance like beasts and they devour all things they see"."So are you saying that the beasts are mages who got consumed by their magic?", Conrad asked. "That is correct...beasts are corrupted mages. Their greediness is also shown after being a beast, devouring anything", Sorano answered to Conrad."What happens when a mage get shot by that bullet? ", Ranga asked. "Nothing..",Sorano said. "Then why is the major like that? "."Mage hunters use black bullets to kill mages...but for Parrish, there is a huge difference. Parrish in not just an ordinary mage. She can use more magic which makes her strong that the other kingdoms feared her. She was immune to any bullets and she heals instantly and we thought she was an immortal. When she was still a cadet, a beast appeared but was killed by her. We burned the beast's body and she inhaled some of its ashes making her lose control that all of us including the army general took a lot of time in stopping her. Afraid for it to happened again, we sealed her magic but was not sealed completely and she can still use a bit of magic. The old hag was the one who healed Parrish after her powers got sealed". They were all stunned to speak after knowing a lot about their major. "Uh", Ranga raised his hand wanted to ask something. "Go on. What is it?", the commander said. "I was wondering...How did they knew about it? ". Gilbert raised his eyebrows, "Know what?"."How did they knew about her weakness when she's the only mage who gets affected by a beast's ash? ". Sorano and Gilbert narrowed their eyes and glanced at each other. "That question makes sense! Infos like that can't easily be known by the enemies...", Liezel said. "Ahh! I don't want to be rude but I think that there must be a double spy among us!", Kalel said making the commander eye at them. "Kalel has a point. The enemies wouldn't know about her weakness unless they sent a spy", Ranga said facing the commander. "A double spy! There is only one person of the squad who would do that! ", Liezel said staring at Eiel. "Don't look at me! I may have hated the major but that was a long time ago!", Eiel said in disagreement and looked at Erix. "Wait- ARE YOU SUSPICIOUS WITH ME! I would never do such disgraceful thing for my dearest kingdom", Erix yelled at Eiel. "Those are the words a traitor would say", Eiel mocked. They began to fight while Viktoria and Ranga tried to stop them. "STOP THIS AT ONCE! ,Gilbert yelled with an angry tone before calming down. That was the first time they saw the commander get angry and it was terrifying. "That'll be enough fight for today...go sleep in my office and don't make a scene. We're in the HQ", Gilbert said telling them to take a rest. After leaving Sorano and Gilbert alone, the two faced each other. "Are you? Are you the double spy, Gilbert", Sorano asked with a dark aura surrounding her. Gilbert bursted out laughing, "You've gotten smarter,Sorano. What made you think of me like a traitor? "."Only you, me and the higher ups know about Parrish's weakness. I also observed that you have been going out of the kingdom for a while. Going outside the kingdom does seem suspicious. What were you doing there? ". Gilbert raised his hands, "Well, you got me. What are you going to do now, Vagondueff?". Gilbert tried to scape from the window but Sorano used her magic and sealed him in a barrier. "Sorry Hawke but I'll be taking you to jail. It disgusts me to know that the highly respected commander was actually a sly fox. But the fox didn't realized that he just entered a lion's den. Get ready to be executed, Gilbert Wil Hawke". "Executed? What a cruel fate that awaits me. I just wanted you to know that I don't want to be beheaded so you may think of other ways to kill me like electrocution or death torture. That would be fun, I guess". "I'll do that. It's not like I hate you so much and my hands are also waiting to kill". "By the way, my friend will be coming soon and finish that girl. If you don't guard her correctly, she would surely end up dead. You wouldn't want your sister to bath in her own blood. That would be very sad". "Gilbert!
