The Ogres

While witnessing the ground rumble, a middle aged woman who was seated on the sofa asked, "What was that?"

I replied, "It's the ogres."

Ogres sent a few of their people through portals to test the strength of the other dimensions. If the ogres returned alive, it meant that the dimension was too weak. However, if the ogres didn't return back to their portals at the end of the day, it signified their deaths. The ogre king would then send an entire army led by a general. This is what we were about to face, however, there was a situation that was far worse. Facing the ogre king.

If the troops led by the ogre general died, the ogre king would enter through the portal himself to fight an all out battle. Ogres tend to be aggressive and strong. Their only weak point, is not being smart enough. They don't have battle formations, they're simply savages. An ogre general is stronger than an ogre, meanwhile, an ogre king is stronger than an ogre general. That's precisely how their hierarchy works.

I got up from my chair and walked into the kitchen. I opened the fridge, and popped a soda bottle open. After drinking about half the bottle, I stepped back into the living room. I began addressing the crowd of heroes.

"Grab anything you find useful. If you know you're a Weaponiser, then grab a kitchen knife. If you know you're a Brawler, grab a pair of gloves to lower the pain on your knuckles when you fight. As for the rest, wear jackets and sweaters only if they're comfortable and if you're able to stretch well in them. Run wild for a minute, and return back to the living room."

After the crowd of people returned, I continued, "All Healers and Buffers will remain at the back of the crowd. As for the Mages, they would be present at the centre. The Weaponisers would lead the crowd, and the Brawlers would follow right next to them. As for me, I'll be leading the crowd. Now, follow me in the order I told you of."

We walked down to see the ogres marching through the streets. Just as I reached, the ogre general slit a woman's head into two with his large axe. You could see the insides of her head from a mile away. The woman was probably mourning down on the streets before this.

After splitting the woman's skull, the goblin general retracted his two handed axe, and rested it on his back. As the ogre general eventually caught my sight, he marched forward towards me with his troop. Approximately 50 ogres stood behind him. As they marched, the ground shook. The troops marched forward, crushing the woman's body into pulp with their feet.

I stood in the middle of the road and waited for the ogre general. The ogre general was far stronger than mediocre ogres. He could jump on a building and crush it till it fell. Facing an ogre was already hard enough for a human, but facing a ogre general, was nearly impossible. An ogre general had the same green complexion as that of an ogre, however, he was much more fit. Instead of a being a big bellied giant, it was more like a muscular giant. None of the ogres were covered in armour, and they only wore a large cloth wrapped around their legs. Except for the ogre general, none of them were armed.

The crowd of people stood behind me, awaiting my orders.

The young girl asked, "So oppa, what do we do now?"

"Now, we wait for them to run."

The ogres were still a mile away. After looking at us with anger, the ogres started running towards us.

The child spoke, "Uncle, I'm scared."

I replied, "Child, you don't have to be. Just use your powers on everyone, and run up to the apartment."

"But I can't use it on everyone."

The ogres were now a few metres away.

I yelled, "Then use it on anyone you can and run back up!"

The child followed my orders and rushed up.

I looked towards the source of rumbling, the ogres. When the ogres were approximately 12 metres away, I let the red aura emit around me. Somehow, I could now control this new-found power. I had many questions in my mind, but I pushed them aside for later.

The ground rumbled further due to my powers. As the ground moved, it produced a small rift between me and the ogres. With the high amount of movement, the crack created rapidly widened.

Due to the amount of kinetic energy the ogres had produced, they couldn't stop. The few ogres in the front tried to stop themselves from falling over, but they were pushed forward because of their brethren. The ogre general however, continued to move forward. He leapt over the crack, and landed on the other side. I was still standing in front of him.

While this was happening, the normal ogres, who were unable to jump up the crack, fell into it. I advanced towards the ogre general. The ogre general tried to end the battle quicker by throwing the axe. I easily dodged the axe by jumping in the air.

While in midair, I realised that the people that were standing behind me, could be faced with the brunt of that attack if they didn't dodge in time. 5 of them dodged the flying axe, however, 7 of them couldn't. I couldn't do anything now. As I was landing towards the ogre general, he moved his right hand to punch me. I used his hand as leverage, and jumped even higher. While in the sky, after repenting for not taking the appropriate action, I landed in front of the general ogre.
