CHAPTER 12: RESTORE FRIENDSHIP

That was the starting of our restored friendship after that night I rescued Callie. We texted each other almost every day and night no particular topics. Even we were not too often hanging out with one another in the campus. Smiling, when we see each other.

In the past years, when we were just kids that we were ignoring each other's presence. I began to know her and me again like a matured one.

As for Brenda and her friends, when I saw them in campus. I warned them not to mess around with Callie or else they will face the consequences.

"Why are you even friends with her?" Brenda pouted raising her brow. "She's just a nobody."

My blood was boiling hearing her words coming from her stupid mouth. "And who told you she is not a nobody? Maybe to you but to us she is not." I said firmly. "I am warning you, Brenda and all your stupid friends. If you do something to Skylar again." I walked closer to her ear and whispered. "You will see what I would do to you and the others. So, you better be thinking twice before you do stupid things to her." I added as I walked away from them, my friends followed me.

I do not know what is wrong with them. Callie did not bother them at all. She always goes to her usual spot during her spare time in school. She never even stays in the cafeteria like any other girls flirting around with some hunks.

Callie has her own world most of the time and I was happy that she is not like some girls in her age. Some were focusing on their body or appearance to always look beautiful even if it is already too much drawings on their faces.

Callie is not. She is totally simple and no need to put make up to look attracted. She has natural beauty and a body of a supermodel.

I guess that was what some girls especially Brenda and her minions were insecurity levels put themselves in higher place.

I looked at my wrist watch to see that I still have longer minutes before my next period after lunch. I do not feel like going to the crowded cafeteria. My feet drove me to the garden in which Callie usually stays.

I walked quietly not to disturb her. She was busy with her sketchbook in her hand. I saw her lunch on the table it seems she was not yet eaten. I shook my head and walked in front of her.

"Hey Cal," I said and she looked up then smiled as saw me. "Why are you not eating yet? Lunch break will be over soon." I added.

"I forgot once I started my sketching." She replied and put down the pad then grabbed her lunch. "Are you done with your lunch? I still have more if you want." She gave me a shyly smile.

"Well, I already had my lunch in cafeteria." I lied to her but I have not actually I am hungry. "However, if you insist to share some with me, why not! My stomach has place for more." I smiled and sat next to her. She laughed then gave me turkey sandwich, slice of apple pie and papaya milk. "Why you have more than yourself? Are you expecting someone to eat with you this lunch?"

"No, no." She answered quickly. "I feel like you will be coming just like now." She grinned in a naughty way. "Just kidding, I always brought more than one for lunch just in case somebody do not have one."

I nodded but did not believe what she said. Was she just telling me the truth? However, I was planning to spend with her during lunch break in this garden.

This is better than in the cafeteria with lots of noisy people around. And beside this is my way of knowing her more in person.

It was not the same as we talk or chat on our phone but talking face to face is something else.

"What are you doing this Friday night?" I asked as I finished my food.

"As usual, stay at home since my parents have some errands to run again this weekend. Then my sister Caria always stays to our cousin's house during weekends. So, typical me, home alone with my drawings. But if Cindy will be planning something, well, that's different case." She said looking at me.

"Why don't we hang out? I mean, we are going for meetup with some guys in our school like bonfire." I said, she was thinking for a while. "I mean, you need to have a little fun for yourself than always staying alone on the weekend. It is our senior year. You need to loosen up a little and beside I will be there if you are scared and I will never leave you. Cindy and Vince will be there too."

I caught her doing inhaling and exhaling thing which I found it cute.

"Okay!" She answered. "Should I bring my car?"

"No, I will pick you up." I smiled wildly.

'Why am I so excited then?' Ever since we became classmates and been seeing each other every day. I could not help myself drawn to her.

We got up after we have done eaten our lunch. She placed back inside her bag her sketchpad. We walked toward the school building.

Everyone was looking at us. Callie seems do not mind as we passed by the hallway.

"Hey!" We both turned and looked behind to see Cindy, Vince and our other friends. We had the same class together. Cindy put her arm around Cal's shoulder as they walked ahead of us towards our next subject.

"Were you two been together at lunch time that's why you're gone?" Vince whispered to me. I did not answer but gave him a small smile.

Looking at Cal's back, my heart was strange. I ignored it as I sat at the back with boys while Cal and Cindy were sitting in front of me.

I shook my head, laughing silently thinking stupidity. I concentrate with the lecture of the teacher in front of us discussing our lessons of the day.

Tonight, we are going to have fun.
