Kaiser of the New World

After the alarms, sirens and nuclear warnings, Kai wakes up in an empty white room. With no idea what to do, he just waits for anything to happen...hoping something will happen. Only when the voice of...something... breaks him out of the monotonous life of the white room, he realises the problems he will have to face just to survive. Note - First few chapters are slow, monotonous and downright terrible, I mean, just going back and looking at chapter three has me cringing. My writing gets better as the story goes on, but it still has a few info dumps. The first few chapter are the shortest by far, like chapter 30 is the same length as 1, 2 and part of ch 3 combined. Honestly, you can just skim the first five and then maybe read it a little more in depth. Thanks, and please, go easy on the first chapters, I already hate them. Schedule is new chapter every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Kai went back to his search with his remaining hundred thousand points and free item choice.

He knew that he wasn't going to spend his free item choice on something expensive but useless. To be honest, he would rather just pick something that was a couple hundred thousand of points that would actually benefit him.

After closing the Limb Enhancement section, Kai glanced at the General section.

Not really to his surprise, it was about the same as what he expected. Mana and Health potions, materials for crafting, herbs for making potions, poisons and antidotes, and just a bunch of other things that were probably common in the outside worlds.

Nothing in that section really caught Kai's eye, so he closed it and went to the Weapon section.

That section was even worse than the general section. Sure there were some great weapons, but none were worth the price. Plus, Kai already had two great weapons stored in his soul, and one would become an Epic rarity after these thirty minutes.

Then, Kai had a look in the Familiar Items section.

He then grimaced after looking at the items available.

To his surpise, majority of people must not have had a good relationship with their familiars. While Kai did see that his contract with Umbra was only one of the ways to gain a familiar, he didn't expect it to be the least common way.

There was slave collars, trackers, binders...

Whips...

Kai shuddered. Why did this remind him less of a section of the shop dedicated to familiars and was catered towards some more... kinky clients.

Still, there was beast pellets and actual useful items for sale, but they were all abnormally expensive. For some reason, they cost even more than a weapon upgrade. Just an Uncommon beast pellet cost two hundred and fifty thousand points.

But looking at it once more, maybe it would be a good idea to spend his free item choice on a Legendary beast pellet...

Time was still ticking away, but Kai was in the position he wanted to be.

His plan for his points was mainly to get a suitable set of armour and some sort of spatial storage. Luckily, he also managed to have enough for a Weapon Upgrade, Skill Fusion Bead and a Mana Vein Enhancement.

Now, the only sections left to check were the Skill section and the armour section once more, Kai was planning on getting another set of armour that complimented the functions of his bodysuit.

First, Kai had a look at the armoir section again. While skills were appealing, he would already be getting one every five levels. But armour...

So far throughout his journey, Kai had only gotten three items from killing things, and two of those came from the final fight.

Kai wasn't sure on how the drop rate was meant to be, but it certainly seemed that there was a higher drop rate for killing things above your level.

And while he had gotten three dropped items, none of them were a suit of armour. Kai knew how bad his luck was, so he would much rather get his protection sorted now.

But Kai wasn't planning on spending all of his remaining points on a suit of armour, he was planning on buying a cheap but useful skill. So he simply set the cost filter to anything under seventy-five thousand and started searching.

There was a lot less variety in the armour he was offered, and none of them actually seemed that useful. Kai was beginning to lose hope on finding a set that was actually worth the cost.

But not even a minute after he had started searching, a grin grew on Kai's face.

Chrome Skin (Rare) - 65000

A malleable, lightweight set of armour. Has the perks of slightly reducing damage received from physical attacks. Because of the nature of the chrome that forms this armour, the wearer will be able to take 50% less damage from one attack. Cooldown is 24 hours from the moment the user selects which attack to endure. Provides the wearer with +125 Constitution and +100 Strength.

Ah, malleable and lightweight, how perfect. A great suit of armour for Kai to wear over his bodysuit. Light is always better after all. And the bonus of being able to endure one attack per day with fifty percent less damage...

The possibilities were definitely there.

Smiling, Kai took a mental note of that armour and moved onto the skill section.

Looking around the section with his remaining thirty thousand points, Kai couldn't help but...

Grimace.

Why... are all these skills so terrible?

Every single skill on display was completetly useless. They ranged from a boost to your eyesight when wielding a bow to the skill that helped you jump higher. Even Telepathy was on sale, shich Kai already had.

Even the more expensive skills were all useless, none of them suited Kai's skillset and abilities, they were all more suited for people like Noelle, Sofia or even the necromamcer.

But that left Kai in a bit of a predicament. He still had thirty thousand points and his free choice remaining, but everything seemed kind of... eh.

There was a little over five minutes left for Kai to make his choice, so he quickly got back to scouring all the shop sections for anything that looked worth the money.

A minute passed, and Kai managed to find something interesting in the Upgrade Item section.

It was exactly thirty thousand, and had quite a few varieties, but Kai settled on one in particular.

Mana Stat Bead (Rare) - 30000 points

Consuming this bead will increase your Mana stat by 36

It was a little lackluster, but Kai saw the use. Eating this bead would give him eleven levels worth of Mana, excluding the unasigned stat points he had in his possession.

But even after that, Kai still had two and a half thousand points remaining. He didn't really want to have any left over points, so he quickly picked out his final choice.

Mana Stat Bead (Common) - 2500 points

Consuming this bead will increase your Mana stat by 3

And with that, Kai had made his choice on what to spend his points on. He still had a couple left over, but there wasn't really anything that he would be buy with that small amount.

But even with his choices made, Kai still had his choice of an item from the shop to take for free.

He didn't need another set of armour or a weapon, so those options were excluded automatically.

Utility had nothing useful, they were mainly just different types of metal detactors, spatial storages and things like that. Plus, Kai would be getting a free utility item some time soon as a reward for coming first. To be honest, Kai didn't really know what to expect. All of the rewards the other top ten received seemed like they were more suited for them, meanwhile this just felt as if that angel couldn't think of anything that suited Kai so she just gave him something that was bound to be useful no matter who received it.

General had nothing that Kai could use as unlike sixth place who received an advanced potion set, all the potions were sold separately, meaning it wasn't worth a free choice.

Skills, Kai was unhappy with that section. How could all the skills be so useless? Kai was shocked that the shopkeeper even had the gall to offer Kai skills like those. He would never be able to use those skills in a million years, let alone now.

Limb Enancement, Kai had already secured his Mana Vein Enhancement. But to be honest, some of the other options were also quite appealing. Maybe he would end up spending his free choice enhancing his brain or something...

Familiar Items... yeah, Kai wasn't buying anything from there. There was no way that he would put a collar on Umbra, and there was even less of a chance that Kai would put some of the more... unsavoury things that were for sale on his familiar. Kai would be shocked if anyone ended up buying anything from that section of the store.

Upgrade Items, that was all sorted, Kai was happy with his choice. There were some other options in that category, so it was between that and Limb Enhancement for the free choice.

Overall, Kai was extremely happy with his selection. Everything he had taken a mental note of were things that would be extremely beneficial to him.

But now there was the final choice he had to make, what to select for free.

It was between something in Limb Enhancement and something in Upgrade Items, those were certainly the only good options.

But there was a little under five minutes left now, meaning Kai didn't exactly have long to make his choice.

But just as he was about to begin his search, Kai let out a:

"Huh..."

There was a section of the shop he had completetly forgotten about until now.

The Unique section.

Surely if it's unique it has to be good, right?

Opening that section of the shop, Kai was a little shocked to see that there was only one item available. What sort of shop sold only one thing?

However, Kai soon became a lot more shocked after seeing what that one available item was.

Glimpse of Your Fate (Divine)
